LOCAL ANIMALS HAVE A MAINLY HAPPY ENDING
Albujon, halflway between Cartagena and Torre Pacheco, was under a foot deep, but it was enough to have the puppies trapped and covered as the tar solidified. A neighbour heard the barking and called for help. The puppies are a cross breed between a podenco and galgo and are ideal for hunting, and so the Guardia Civil are concentrating their investigation on hunters, hoping the help of the outraged public who help them track down the individual involved. He would face a charge of animal cruelty which carries an eighteen month prison sentence, as well as substantial fines.

pony that was stolen from a local show in the Vega Baja some three months ago has been reunited with its owner, after the animal was spotted wandering on a road in the Orihuela area. The local police were told about the pony being on the CV870 by the hamlet of Virgen del Camino a few kilometres south of La Murada from where it was taken back in March.
