PATRICK’S FAREWELL
RESIDENTS PAY TRIBUTE TO 10 YEAR OLD ALEX TRELINSKI
A
round 150 people from Torrevieja’s Torrealmendros urbanisation gathered last Sunday to pay tribute to a 10 year old boy who was stabbed to death in an incident in the early hours of Monday May 4th. A 49 year old Spaniard accused of killing his partner's 10 year old son, Patrick, has agreed to pre-trial detention in jail after appearing before a Torrevieja judge. Residents of the urbanisation came together on Sunday for a special ceremony attended by councillors but not Patrick’s mother, Silvia. An impromptu shrine had been created at a bus stop area, with flowers, candles, and cuddly toys, with the tribute ending in
a minute’s silence and the release of balloons. The president of the community, José Castillejo, condemned Patrick’s death and stressed the importance of community life and people being aware of what was happening close to them. He also bizarrely claimed, in a surprising contrast to extensive witness statements last week, that nobody in the area knew that there were any problems in Patrick’s family until the day of his death. The one hour hearing for Patrick’s alleged killer was at Torrevieja’s Violence against Women court which he was taken to after being released from Torrevieja Hospital, after he had been treated for wounds following an alleged suicide attempt.
