Dear Franchisees and The Joint Community, As we move into the second half of 2026, I want to take a moment to reconnect all of us to why we do this work every day.

Our mission has not changed: improve quality of life through routine and affordable chiropractic care.

Every system we build, every dollar we invest, and every conversation we have with a patient should support that mission. What has always stood out to me about The Joint is the deep connection our franchisees, doctors, Wellness Coordinators, and Support Center team members feel to that purpose. Let’s continue bringing it to life every day.

The vision I shared when I first became President and CEO also has not changed: to build America’s most accessible health and wellness services company.

The way people think about their health is evolving, as we discussed at Align26. They are thinking not only about care, but also about movement, longevity, sleep, recovery, and overall wellness. Recently, the Executive Leadership Team traveled to Nashville and saw the new MoveScore™ in action. MoveScore responds directly to this shift by helping patients understand that chiropractic care is about moving and living better for the long term. It gives doctors and patients an objective, visit-by-visit measure of mobility progress, turning what has always been felt into something we can show and track together. With MoveScore, we are differentiating The Joint by helping patients see and pursue the kind of wellness they are seeking: the ability to move through life better.

Growing our Active Members is one of the clearest ways we bring both our mission and vision to life.

Active Member growth is not a separate initiative. It is one of the key levers we are using to continue building toward our vision. Right now, every clinic can support that growth through our $19 Re-Activation Promotion, which runs through August 30. This campaign gives former patients a simple, low-barrier reason to return to care, while the non-advertised $45 first month on a Wellness Plan offer gives teams a strong conversion tool to help turn one visit into renewed, routine care.

I also want to reiterate something I’ve said before: we are listening, and we are acting on what franchisees and the system are telling us. On page 8, we have outlined the specific items you have asked us to address and the actions we have taken in response. This remains

an ongoing commitment, and we will continue to share progress on the issues and opportunities that matter most to you in future issues of BackBone, at the Forward Forum, and through our Connection Calls and Listening Lab events.

Our Development Team has also been working hard to create resources, materials, and partnerships that support growth through successful clinic openings, including: 1.

Built a construction management playbook and toolkit that helps franchisees save time and expense.

2. Identified a regional and national network of approved General Contractors capable of completing clinic construction in under 45 days.

3. Secured furniture, fixtures, and equipment vendors offering strong quality, pricing, and terms.

4. Built a real estate broker network to help franchisees identify high-potential sites in trade areas that align with our strongest demographic and market criteria while securing favorable commercial terms.

5. Expanded our list of lenders who are supportive of and committed to our franchisees.

6. Developed pre-opening Operations and Marketing playbooks.

As a result of these changes, our 35 most recent clinic openings over the past 18 months have outperformed any clinics we opened in the prior two to three years.

I am confident in what we can accomplish together when we stay focused on our mission and vision, support one another, and keep listening to the needs of our patients. The work happening across the system, from strengthening clinic openings to growing Active Members to advancing innovations like MoveScore, is positioning The Joint for a strong second half of the year and an even stronger future. Thank you for your continued commitment to the people we serve and to bringing routine, affordable chiropractic care to more communities every day.

Innovation in Action: Pilot Programs Across the System A

cross the system, clinics are helping test and refine new ideas that could shape the future of patient care, clinic operations and revenue growth.

From new tools that measure patient progress to AI-powered technology designed to improve the call experience, these pilots are giving us valuable insights into what works best for patients, doctors and clinic teams.

MoveScore™ and "Signature Treatment" Concept Testing Underway Last month, some clinics in Nashville and Arizona started two pilots that will explore new ways to measure and communicate patient progress.

The Joint’s MoveScore provides a trackable measurement of patient progress that both the patient and DC can see, understand, and build on together. It is designed to align the patient and doctor on progress, meet patients where they are in their care journey to keep them engaged, and help the patient understand the transition from pain care to wellness care.

Our “Signature Treatment” concept includes the use of a Range of Motion and Posture app to measure patient results as well as the use of a Rapid Release massage device.

We will monitor results into Q4 to see how these new initiatives impact patient outcomes and clinic performance.

Clinics Testing AI-Powered Phone Agent and Call Answering System A group of clinics have begun piloting a new AI auto attendant, Cara, to see how an AI-powered phone agent can improve how clinics handle incoming calls from current and prospective patients. The goal is to determine whether an AI voice agent can reliably answer every call and automate common conversations to ease the workload on front desk staff, recover missed revenue opportunities, and improve the overall patient experience.

Cara picks up every inbound clinic call automatically, so no call goes unanswered, and can respond to questions about clinic location, services and plan options in a natural conversation. If a caller requests to speak to a live person, Cara will connect them right away with no pushback or deflection.

The pilot is expected to run for approximately 6 weeks.

Hardware Readiness Many clinics' current hardware and internet will already meet what C3 Front Office needs. The C3 Readiness Checklist is a diagnostic step to pinpoint if a slower computer needs a hardware upgrade, a network fix, or another simple health measure.

Download the C3 Readiness Checklist and use it to check your clinic's computer(s) and internet connection.

Then, submit your results via the Clinic Technology Readiness Survey.

Register for a Live Training Session If you have not yet attended a live training session, there are still multiple events to choose from. Sessions are scheduled across time zones before clinics open, and all sessions will contain the same information.

O The Joint Engaging in MAHA's Efforts to Expand Chiropractic Access and Influence

n July 20, the MAHA Chiropractic Hub hosted a roundtable to bring together the International Chiropractors Association (ICA), the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), leaders from chiropractic institutions, leaders in chiropractic research and large multi-unit clinic operators to discuss a shared vision for growing the chiropractic profession.

Dr. Steve Knauf, D.C., The Joint's Vice President of Chiropractic and Training, attended the event which featured panels on topics including expanding Medicare coverage for chiropractic services, increasing funding for research and bringing chiropractic care into schools. The event combined policy strategy sessions with personal, mission-driven stories from practitioners about why they entered the field.

"MAHA is a non-partisan group that is looking to expand access to services of providers who seek to prevent health issues and promote true health and wellness of their patients," explains Dr. Knauf. "As the largest provider of chiropractic services, this is absolutely our time to seize this opportunity, step into the spotlight and really claim our right as the primary provider that holds this interest for their patients. It's what chiropractic was founded on, and it's our mission. It makes absolute sense that we work with this group to drive awareness and utilization of chiropractic."

Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act (H.R. 539 / S. 106) A large focus of the event was the Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act, a top legislative priority for the Hub. This Act and its proposed amendments would provide parity for chiropractors, allowing them to be reimbursed for more services at a rate comparable to other primary care providers. Most importantly to The Joint and our patients, chiropractors would be allowed to opt out of Medicare and contract privately with Medicare patients, providing them more options when they seek chiropractic services.

"As the largest provider and employer of chiropractors, The Joint must engage in this initiative," said Dr. Knauf.

"It's the closest it's ever been to succeeding, and will require support from franchisees, doctors, and patients to get this over the line. The Joint Corp. has already reinforced its support of this Act and the work of the MAHA Chiropractic Hub via a financial donation, and we hope others follow the lead."

Expanding Chiropractic Access to Youth, Active Military The Joint's mission is to improve the quality of lives for those in our communities, and the MAHA Chiropractic Hub's advocates believe wellness-focused chiropractic care can become part of a broader support system for children and active-duty service members and veterans. Presentations on expanding care to youth outlined a model in which chiropractic becomes a valuable preventative resource for students alongside services such as dental care or occupational therapy.

Discussions on expanding access to military personnel focused on removing barriers that can delay care.

"The Joint has unique pricing for Medicare patients, military personnel, and youth patients, which aligns exactly with MAHA's focus on how they envision growing the profession. It's something we identified years ago but can amplify with MAHA's support," says Dr. Knauf.

What's Next?

The MAHA Chiropractic Hub envisions a future of greater access to chiropractic care, greater funding for research and innovative practice models, and greater emphasis on the role chiropractic care can play in improving health outcomes.

"Over the next year or so, the group will continue to bring chiropractic leaders together and provide them with opportunities, like at this past event, to meet with those in the government who can drive regulatory change that will benefit the future growth of the profession," says Dr. Knauf. "This is a relatively new group that needs financial support, so donating and speaking with your local representatives will demonstrate that chiropractic is a powerful, aligned voice ready for its next chapter."

Speaking the Same Language: Training Terms to Know The Learning Center offers a variety of training tools and formats to support employee growth. As our library of courses and resources continues to grow, so does the vocabulary used to describe them.

Whether you’re a WC, DC, clinic owner, or manager, understanding these common training and development terms can help you navigate learning resources more confidently, communicate more effectively, and make the most of the tools available to support you or your team’s development.

Use this glossary as a quick reference for some of the most common terms you’ll encounter in The Learning Center (TLC) and throughout training communications.

Blended Learning A course or curriculum that uses more than one way to deliver learning experiences. (Usually a mix of inperson, eLearning, and workbook experiences.)

Learning Objectives Actionable goals of a training session. Describes what learners should be able to do if they have fully engaged in the learning activities as designed.

Catalog A collection of available training courses and curricula. The catalog is accessed by clicking the “Catalog” button on the TLC Dashboard.

Quick Reference Guide (QRG) A short, easy-to-read document summarizing key information for quick use. QRGs are considered Justin-Time (JIT) tools.

Course Used to describe a single training session or module that is assigned as a stand-alone learning experience in The Learning Center.

Resources Training resources, such as guides, videos, or job aids, that support learning. Resources may be found by clicking the “Resources” button the TLC Dashboard.

Curriculum/Curricula Bundled courses (two or more) that are assigned as a package. To complete a curriculum, learners must complete each course bundled in it.

The Learning Center (TLC) The Joint’s Learning Management System (LMS). TLC is the centralized platform used to deliver, manage, and track training.

eLearning Self-paced learning available on The Learning Center.

Elearning courses and curricula are interactive and completed online.

Transcript A learner’s training record within The Learning Center that tracks enrollments, completions, certifications, and other learning activity.

Just-in-Time Training (JIT) Quick and easily accessible training content or resources created to provide focused learning at the time of need.

Validation Steps to take to confirm each learning objective has been achieved and to ensure successful application in the clinic.

Beyond the Adjustment:

Meet Dr. Alex Taylor, D.C. W

hen he was just 15, Dr. Alex Taylor, D.C. was involved in a serious car accident and began seeing his mother's chiropractor to receive care for the neck injury he suffered. His neck pain and mobility improved quickly, but what really surprised him was everything else that felt better along the way.

The everyday tension and soreness he'd always assumed was normal started to ease, and he noticed real gains in range of motion, flexibility and recovery. Once he realized how chiropractic care was transforming his quality of life, he knew he wanted to provide that same experience to other people.

Dr. Taylor earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Logan University in 2018 and began working at The Joint Chiropractic – Cottleville (MO) in 2021.

In 2024, he was part of the clinic team's milestone achievement of reaching 1,000 active members and now serves as the clinic's Managing Clinic Director.

“I have always seen chiropractic in the wellness lens,” he says. “The Joint allows patients to come in regularly at an affordable price to keep them out of pain and functioning optimally. It's also helped me become a better chiropractor in terms of diagnosing patients because of the walk-in setting. You never know who is going to walk through the door and without prior preparation, you have to stay on your toes and examine, diagnose, and treat in real time."

Now, he works every day to give his own patients the same feeling he had when he first started receiving chiropractic care – the opportunity to get back to living healthy, active lives.

"I had a patient that was coaching her daughter’s volleyball team, and her right neck and arm pain was so intense that she could no longer lift her arm up," he recalls. "She struggled to sleep comfortably, could not swing and hit a volleyball at practice, and she was almost in tears on her first visits. After a couple weeks of care, she was back to overhand serving at practice and was sleeping through the night for the first time in months. Stories like this are exactly why I became a chiropractor."

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Taylor loves cheering for the St. Louis Blues and listening to NHL podcasts. He can often be found on the golf course, training for his next half marathon or planning his next hiking trip with his wife, Sara. Most of all, he loves spending his days off with Sara and their 6-month-old son Miles.

Q&A with Dr. Alex Taylor, D.C. How do you build trust with New Patients?

“Communication is key. It doesn’t matter how great a doctor adjusts if the patient does not know what the doctor is doing or why they are doing it. When a new patient is educated on their diagnosis, treatment, treatment plan, and expected outcomes, trust is built throughout the visit which hopefully leads to patients' compliance of their care plan.”

How do you partner effectively with the Wellness Coordinator(s) in your clinic?

“Whether it is tweaking our warm hand-off, focusing on clinic goals and metrics, or practicing overcoming objections, we are always working together to improve in clinic. The WC is just as important as the doctors in the office, and when everyone is striving for goals and the growth of the clinic, that's when you have a perfect WC/ DC partnership."

Where Care Begins: Getting to Know

Wellness Coordinator Kaiya Dublin S

ince joining The Joint in July 2024, Kaiya Dublin has become a steady presence across five clinics in Colorado Springs and Pueblo in Colorado. Ask her what keeps her coming back, and the answer is simple: her team, and the patients they care for every day.

“Our WCs not only put their best foot forward, but openly care about each other’s wellbeing as well as the patients,” she explains. “The culture that The Joint has created keeps me grounded and focused.

I love coming in and seeing both new faces and the consistent ones, and being a part of their care brings me joy!"

Kaiya's commitment to excellence, consistency, and a patient-first mindset has earned the trust of both patients and her team. As a Lead Wellness Coordinator, she plays a key role in supporting clinic operations and performance by mentoring other WCs, reinforcing best practices, and ensuring smooth day-to-day workflow. In 2025, she achieved a 79% overall in-clinic conversion rate, including a 74% New Patient conversion rate and an exceptional 83% conversion rate for existing patients.

She goes above and beyond with patients, taking the time to educate them on their care in a way that feels supportive and trustworthy. She anticipates patient needs, follows through on concerns, and ensures every patient feels welcomed, informed, and valued from start to finish.

Her team recalls a time when a New Patient came in overwhelmed with questions, unsure whether The Joint was the right fit for her care. Kaiya answered every one of their concerns, offering reassurance without ever letting the rest of the busy, high-volume clinic slow down. That patient went on to leave a five-star Google review naming Kaiya as the real reason she chose The Joint. When Kaiya is out, patients will notice and often ask about her until she’s back.

"Being able to be a part of someone's transformation into their best self is beyond rewarding," says Kaiya.

Outside of the clinic, Kaiya loves reading, game nights with friends, and journaling. Her ideal day off starts with coffee and a book with breakfast, then time outside hiking, fishing or just taking a walk. Her go-to wellness habit is simple: no phones and sunlight first thing in the morning. “Even if the sun isn’t out,” she says, “just step outside, breathe and ground yourself!”

“Open your ears as well as your heart, lead with empathy and work to understand all who come into your clinic. The WC is an imperative part of The Joint experience. A smile or an acknowledgement of understanding is sometimes all someone needs to feel heard and comfortable.”
