The majority of our products are handcrafted from lumber certified to the highest standards of sustainable forest practices, with as much as possible originating from local sources. Each piece you order will be wholly built, and proudly signed, by a single woodworker who has the skills – and takes the time – to create an object worthy of a place of honor in your home. The finish on all of our pieces is so distinctively smooth and sensual that you can identify our furniture with your eyes closed. You can even recognize the subtle and soothing aroma of our custom-formulated oil, which highlights the natural beauty of the wood. The Joinery respects our furniture’s place in the environment. From the solar panels on our roof to the briquette machine that recycles sawdust into briquettes we donate to the community, we invest in maintaining the highest ecological standards. We have been a certified B Corporation™ since 2010 — companies committed to using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems — and have been honored among B Corp’s “Best for the Environment” list for four years. We have also been recognized multiple times by Oregon Business Magazine as one of the Best Green Workplaces in Oregon, named as one of Oregon’s Most Admired Companies by the Portland Business Journal, and achieved Gold Certification by the City of Portland’s Sustainability at Work Program. The quality of our craft may be our single greatest environmental contribution. With most furniture built today destined for a landfill within a few short years, the lifetime guarantee on The Joinery’s products ensure that our valuable natural resources are used wisely and efficiently. We recycle all scrap lumber, and our dust collection system and briquette machine recycle sawdust into wood briquettes that we donate to the community. Additionally, our truck runs on biodiesel fuel, our facilities are powered by solar and wind energy, and we use highefficiency lighting throughout our facilities. Perhaps the capstone of our recycling efforts is our annual Metamortise Award, which recognizes the employees who create the most innovative pieces of furniture from scrap lumber.
COMMUNIT Y We demonstrate our strong community ties in many ways. Through the Bella Fund, we design and build custom beds for children with special needs. We donate lumber to local high school woodshops, give away all wood briquettes we make on the premises from our woodshop sawdust, raise money to support tree plantings with Friends of Trees, and support numerous other local charitable causes each year.
WOOD SOURCING The Joinery offers a variety of different wood species for our standard products and frequently searches out other distinctive woods in response to specific customer requests. In all cases we seek to find an environmentally responsible source. Much of our lumber is certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council, which maintains the highest standards in the country for environmental stewardship. The overwhelming majority of our wood is either locally sourced from Oregon and Washington, FSC certified, or both. Lead Times Joinery furniture is typically built to order in twleve to twenty weeks. Orders may be able to be completed within a shorter lead time for an expediting fee on a case-by-case basis. Alternatively, you may purchase one of the many pieces of furniture off of our showroom floor, most of which are available immediately. Check with us for current availability.
Delivery & Pick-ups CUSTOMER PICK-UPS: If you choose to pick up your furniture yourself, please arrange a pick-up time in advance. Be sure to bring blankets or other padding, plus tie-downs to protect your furniture. Our pickup times are Monday-Saturday from 10-5 Pickups are not available on Sundays. WHITE GLOVE DELIVERY: For deliveries within Oregon, we will arrange for your furniture to be brought into your home, placed, and assembled. Delivery personnel will remove all packaging materials, but cannot move your existing furniture, attach anything to walls, or connect electronic equipment unless such services have been discussed prior to delivery with your salesperson. Additional fees will apply. For white glove delivery outside of Oregon, we can recommend third-party carriers who provide exceptional service. The carrier will work with you directly to schedule the delivery. CURBSIDE DELIVERY: Furniture will be crated by The Joinery, shipped to your home, and delivered to your curbside by a third-party carrier. You are then responsible for unpacking and disposing of crate and placing the furniture in home.

Warranty The Joinery is proud to offer a lifetime warranty for all residential furniture for the original owner of the piece. The warranty covers any defects that occur with the furniture structure or wood materials. The warranty does not cover wear and tear; upholstery, fabric or leather; hardware or other third-party components; damage sustained during shipping; misuse of furniture; or repairs that were not completed by The Joinery or its designated representatives. Some customer-requested design specifications may also be excluded. Please refer to our Product Care on page 81 for simple steps that will keep your furniture looking great for decades.
Returns The Joinery’s goal is complete customer satisfaction. We honor return and exchange requests on all standard products that are received within 14 days of delivery. Unless the merchandise is damaged, the transportation cost is non-refundable. We will facilitate the return delivery or shipping as needed, and will deduct that cost from the price of the returned merchandise. Items that have exceeded the 14-day limit are evaluated on case-by-case and, if accepted, will incur a restocking fee. Unfortunately we are unable accept returns on custom furniture, mattresses or special ordered items.
Damaged Merchandise Please contact The Joinery immediately if your furniture arrives damaged or defective. We will resolve all issues as quickly as possible.
Cancellations The Joinery will accept cancellations on all standard products within seven days of the order date. After that, or for custom orders, we will review cancellation requests on a case-by-case basis and will charge for design/build time incurred or materials purchased for the job.

PRODUCT INFORMATION Our Wood Finish The beauty of hardwoods is brought to life with our hand-rubbed finish composed of a proprietary blend of clear oils. Our oil finish provides excellent protection and durability while maintaining the natural beauty of the wood. It does not show fingerprints, requires minimal upkeep, and is easy to repair.
Upholstery Options The Joinery offers a range of standard fabrics and leather options for upholstered pieces. Contact us to request a fabric sample, or make the request directly from our website. For additional fabric options please stop by one of our showrooms to see our fabric library, or contact us for additional resources or questions about COM materials.
Product Care You can fully expect our handcrafted furniture to be cherished and enjoyed by generations to come. Depending on the hardwood species you select, your furniture from The Joinery may be affected by light, temperatures and humidity differently. Over the first few weeks and months, as the oil finish cures and the wood matures, we recommend periodically moving items placed on the wood surface so the patina develops evenly. And we always recommend using coasters or trivets to prevent direct heat and moisture contact with the wood surface. To help maintain the smooth Joinery finish, it is recommended to apply Feed-N-Wax to the surface every 6 to 12 months. The Joinery oil finish with Feed-N-Wax is very effective in repairing dents, scratches, and white rings. WOOD OPTIONS The Joinery uses only high-grade hardwood lumber. Each builder hand selects boards based on color and grain match. The wood species we offer include Cherry, Madrone, Maple, Oregon White Oak, Eastern Walnut, and Western Walnut. We can source other wood species upon request. Contact us to request wood samples, which are available in all six standard species with our standard oil finish. Alternatively, you may make your request directly from our website product pages.
