The body of a 54-yearold man was retrieved from the water in Port Washington Wednesday afternoon, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
The man, found at 175
Roslyn West Shore, was pronounced dead at 3:49 p.m., according to officials.
A witness who reported the incident noticed a white object floating in the water, which was discovered to be a 2023 BMW X3 SUV, officials said. The car was removed from the water by the Nassau County Emergency Services Unit.

“It’s surprisingly deep right there because it’s a ramp for boats to go in — it’s deep,” North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jennifer DeSena said. “It’s a very sad turn of events to be out here on a beautiful day, seeing all these great first responders, but preparing for a tragedy.”
The homicide unit reported the undetermined death occurred at 3:10 p.m. The investigation is ongoing, according to officials.
