Herricks Teachers’ Association Reaches Out With Holiday Spirit Herricks Teachers’ Association members coordinated outreach programs and supported our community throughout the year. As an organization, the HTA has helped our own Herricks community by supporting families in need this holiday season and beyond. The HTA has given over $4,500 to less fortunate families during the pandemic and the holiday season. •Marianne Marsigliano, RN, an HTA member, coordinated a school-wide Holiday Adopt-a- Child Program. This annual event started with contacting the Nassau County Department of Social Services and obtaining the names of 68 children from ages 18 months to 17 years old. The requests were made for items like coats, boots, toys, and books from their wish list. HTA members from the transportation department as well as teachers participated. “It was unbelievable how generous everyone was, each child received more than one gift this year,â€? said Marianne. “This is always a very rewarding experience.â€? •Danielle Gigante and other HTA members from the high school guidance department also showed the season’s generosity by coordinating a “Giving Treeâ€? to help families in need during this holiday season. •HTA member Jodi Thompson, Middle School Librarian, coordinated the “Holiday Wishesâ€? program at Herricks Middle School. Through the Nassau County Department of Social Services, this program con

This year the HTA members and chairpersons, Kelly Scardina and Caitlin Breen, helped organize National Junior Honor Society members to load the trucks and donate dozens of gifts for the children on the list.
