1st winter pep rally

Roslyn High School hosted its frst-ever winter pep rally on Jan. 6 in the main gym. The RHS Pep Band kicked of the event with some talented playing.

From there, it was a schoolwide celebration of varsity and junior varsity sports, including basketball, gymnastics, wrestling, bowling, fencing, swimming and track.

The event wrapped up with a 3-point competition by grade level, with students competing against several teachers and staf members.

“We thought a winter pep rally would be a great opportunity to celebrate our school spirit and provide recognition to our high school athletes,” said Michael Brostowski, director of health, physical education, and athletics. “It succeeded in being a fun and inspiring event that allowed all our student-athletes to be in the spotlight and show their Bulldog pride!”

Katie Dufy-Schumacher, founder and president of Don’t Press Send, Inc., visited East Hills Elementary School to host an assembly for 3rd and 4th-grade students.

Schumacher, a New York State certifed teacher who founded Don’t Press Send in Rockville Centre, has made it her mission to discuss the challenges of raising children who are growing up with social media as their primary means of communication.

She is dedicated to helping today’s children, adolescents and adults embrace the benefts of technology while avoiding its pitfalls.
