Manorhaven presents $5.2M budget
Tentative proposal, a 5.6% increase over this year, discussed at March 8 board meeting

The Village of Manorhaven is proposing a tentative budget of $5.2 million for the 2023-24 fscal year, about a 5.6% increase from the current budget.

The tentative budget of $5,177,498 is increasing by $274,030. The current budget is set at $4,903,468.
The village is projecting total revenue of $5.2 million, amounting to the same dollar amount to be spent by the village for the upcoming fscal year. This is greater than the projected revenue of $4.9 million for 2022-23 and the actual revenue of $4 million as of Nov. 30.
The budget anticipates increases in total property taxes and tax items revenues. Real property tax revenues are projected to rise by nearly $69,000.
While the total budget will increase, certain budget reductions are being made. This includes a 13.4% decrease in stafng budgets. Cuts include funds for clerk/treasurer personal services, clerk/treasurer overtime and records management.
The village’s debt service is also projected to decrease. For 2023-24 it is proposed to be $215,480, while the current budget allots $270,936.
During the village board’s work session March 8, no comments were made by any of the members about the budget. Mayor John Popeleski said the board will move forward to vote on the budget next month. No date was provided.
The tentative budget documents do not include a breakdown of the 2023-24 tax levy. The village clerk did not respond to multiple requests for the information.
