The board said that they would address the matter again in two weeks, once they receive further information about the applicant’s forms regarding proper zoning, certificate of occupancy if any existing special permit exists on the premises, and if any permit exemptions would prevent the approval of the grant.
New business for the board also included the establishment of a safety zone by reconfiguring parking in Parking Field 4, adjacent to 523531 Middle Neck Road, which was unanimously passed.
“We’ve been told that the fire marshal needs to have a formal resolution by the board in order to be able to issue tickets to someone who parks in the fire safety zone,” Bee said. “I’ve drafted the resolutions which would resolve that the superintendent of Public Works is authorized to reconfigure parking in Parking Field 4.”
Additionally, a meeting to “designate three members and one alternate to be available for the meeting [of the Board of Assessment Review] and hear oral assessment grievance arguments at Village Hall, 767 Middle Neck Road,” on Feb. 21, 2023, was approved in a united vote by the board. The members include Morris Lavi, Michael Goldman, and Alexia Friend, with sitting Village of Great Neck trustee Steven Hope acting as the alternate.
Two additional hearings were scheduled for later dates. A proposed hearing involving the keeping of certain animals such as ducks, chickens and geese as pets being a nuisance was voted to take place on Feb. 21 at 7:45 p.m., and a hearing to provide parking spaces “to nonresidential structures by handicapped persons who have appropriately designated vehicles” was set for March 7 at 8 p.m.
