EGG-CELLENT Easter egg hunts 15,000 eggs were hidden at Beaufort Academy & Hunting Island State Park

About 150 kids brought their families to Hunting Island Sate Park on Saturday, March 31 for the annual Easter Egg Hunt in the shadow of the iconic lighthouse. Bundled up against the morning chill, children competed in a coloring contest and got to sit on the Easter Bunny’s lap. For the main event, the kids lined up behind the tape according to age and on the word “GO” — off they went and gathered up all 1,000 eggs in about five minutes.

More than 1,200 kids were pre-registered for the inaugural Great Community Helicopter Egg Drop and many more showed up at Beaufort Academy on Saturday, March 31. “We dropped 14,000 plastic eggs in four separate drops,” said event organizer Jonolyn Ferrier of Beaufort Academy. “We can’t tell how many kids finally showed up”, she said. “This is huge.” Inside two of the gold eggs was free tuition to Beaufort Academy for one year.
