Editor’s Letter I know I said it last issue, and I will probably say it again next issue, but this one might just be my favourite yet. Welcome to our Entrepreneur Issue. Spa and aesthetics has always attracted a particular kind of person. The practitioner who opens her own clinic before she feels ready, the therapist with a product idea scribbled in a treatment room notebook, the nurse who backs herself against the odds. This issue is for them, and for the version of you wondering whether you could do it too. And we have packed a lot in. Across these pages we explore the interior design styles that stand the test of time, walk you through designing your own brand, go deep on creating your own skincare line and ask if brands should be investing in AI imagery or real models? Oh, and we are launching our newest online media publication, Sripted, which is for AHPRA registered HCPs. Like I said, this issue has it all. Now, if being a business owner isn’t on your to-do list right now (we get it), we’ve got you covered too. We sat down with Georgie Cash, a specialist beauty and wellness recruiter, to unpack her unique approach to talent acquisition. Working across the brand side while continuously building her talent pool, Georgie is well placed to help if you’re considering your next move, without burning bridges along the way (no small feat in this industry). Whether you’re actively looking or simply curious about what’s next, it’s worth reading on page 36.

Dr Joseph Hkeik, who shares the story behind why Solta Medical is his heritage product on page 46. It is a masterclass in playing the long game and why evidence based technology is the key to longevity. Switching gears, we take a look at the rise of the fractional CMO (that is chief marketing officer). Depending on your brand or business, investing in one part-time might just be the thing that kicks your growth into high gear before the end of 2026. We also dive into the fascinating science behind human-derived exosomes on page 50 with Monesthetica and unpack the rise of contractors in the wellness space. Does the model actually work, or does it hurt your brand? Lucky last, our themed shoot. This issue we turned the lens on cleansers, and I make no apologies. I have often thought a cleanser can make or break a routine. After SPF, I would argue it is the second most important step on your shelf. Consider this your permission to upgrade on page 94. However you arrive at this issue, whether you are building an empire, plotting your next move or simply here for the skincare and interior inspo (like Wild Soul on page 76), I hope it leaves you a little braver than it found you. That is what entrepreneurs do best, after all. They begin. Stephanie McLean Managing Editor SMCLEAN@INTERMEDIA.COM.AU

I am writing this as though you are a practitioner on the move, but the truth is, our industry is full of entrepreneurs breaking the glass ceiling on the regular. None more so than our cover star,

On Our Shelf The products we keep reaching for

ENRICH Vitamin A, B + C Antioxidant Serum & ENRICH Vitamin C Night Cream

Stephanie McLean, Managing Editor

Testing products has to be one of my favourite parts of my job. However, test too many and my skin throws a bit of a hissy fit, so I have to be careful and selective about what I trial to avoid triggering any unwanted irritation. Generally, I can tell quite quickly if something is going to be my skin’s friend just by the application alone. One thing I’ve always struggled with integrating is Vitamin C. So when Dr Michael Rich’s skincare range, aptly named ENRICH, landed in my inbox, I was keen to see if this would be a different experience. Let me just say this: these products have exceeded my expectations in so many ways. I’ve been trialling the Vitamin A, B + C Antioxidant Serum and the Vitamin C Night Cream, and I think it’s safe to say I might be addicted. Not only are the formulas subtly smooth and surprisingly luxurious, but they also deliver an unmistakable glow to the skin. I’ve had strangers ask what I’m using. My skin’s texture is now satin-soft, and there’s a clarity I haven’t quite achieved with Vitamin C before. Additionally, the packaging is ultra-modern and perfectly on trend, which makes the whole experience feel even more elevated. Give it a try and I promise you won’t regret it.

Glow Culture, The Glow Brush Cleaner When was the last time you or your patients/ clients cleaned their makeup brushes? If the answer is “I can’t remember,” then you probably need The Glow Brush Cleaner in your life and on your retail shelf. In case you forgot, makeup brushes Stephanie quickly turn into a literal petri dish of McLean, bacteria, oil and dead skin cells that Managing Editor get pressed into the skin with every use, often contributing to breakouts and ongoing skin concerns. Enter Glow Brush Cleaner. A simple, brush-safe cleanser designed to dissolve makeup residue while conditioning bristles at the same time. It comes with a textured silicone cleansing pad that makes deep cleaning brushes effortless but thorough, lifting out buildup that regular rinsing can’t reach. I personally use mine in the shower and simply wet the brushes, swirl them through the balm, then work them over the silicone pad under running water until completely clean. After that, I simply pat them dry with a towel and leave them to air dry fully. It’s quick, satisfying, and makes a noticeable difference not just to brush hygiene and longevity, but to overall skin health too.

IKOU, Muscle Relax Magnesium Spray I’m loving the new Muscle Relax Magnesium Spray from iconic Australian skincare and wellness brand IKOU. Inspired by the restorative landscape Kym Cowper, of the Blue Mountains, IKOU has Integrated always been rooted in the philosophy Partnerships of sanctuary — that restoration is Director essential to modern living, rest builds resilience, and taking a moment to pause can restore perspective. After long days on my feet at events (usually in high heels), those aching legs are very real! This light, mistable magnesium spray has become such a welcome addition to my bedtime routine. It sprays on so easily and I tend to focus it on my shins, calves and the bottoms of my feet, particularly after a long day standing or walking. Infused with the beautiful aromas of eucalyptus, lemon, peppermint, kunzea and arnica essential oils, it adds a fresh, calming sensory experience and is now a welcome addition to my end-of-day regime! Shoes off, a few sprays, feet up and a moment to pause.

skinbetter science, Mystro Active Balance Serum

Nadine Dilong, Digital Editor

When a serum feels more like a moisturiser, it’s hard not to take notice. Despite its name, skinbetter science Mystro Active Balance Serum has a light but very creamy texture that immediately feels more nourishing than your average serum, while still absorbing beautifully into the skin. Designed to improve overall skin quality rather than target a single concern, Mystro uses the brand’s proprietary P.A.T.H. Technology, which is a blend of plant-based adaptogens that helps the skin adapt to internal and external stressors. The formula also contains niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, squalane and powerful antioxidants including astaxanthin and ergothioneine, working together to reduce visible redness, improve texture, refine pores and support a healthierlooking complexion over time. The first thing I noticed was the scent. While officially fragrance-free, it has a subtle calendula-like aroma that instantly transported me back to a skincare product I used as a teenager. I still can’t remember what it was called — which is going to annoy me forever — but it definitely evoked a sense of nostalgia. I’m also a fan of the airless pump packaging, which dispenses just the right amount of product without any mess. After using Mystro morning and night for two weeks, I’ve already noticed a slight reduction in redness and my skin appears calmer overall. Clinical studies report visible improvements in skin quality within two weeks, with continued improvements in redness, texture and uneven tone over eight to 12 weeks, so I’m looking forward to seeing how my results continue to develop. spaandclinic.com.au | 15

DESIGN FILES

Dr Andrew Clark, MIRA Clinic Founder

D

escribed by Spa+Clinic’s Integrated Partnerships Director, Kym, as “the Alice in Wonderland clinic”, MIRA Clinic is full of delightful surprises. Behind its stately Edwardian façade lies an eclectic world of designer lighting, quirky artwork and contemporary clinical spaces. In designing the fit out for the clinic, owner Dr Andrew Clark applied the same philosophy to his interiors that he brings to his patients. “I started with the concept of ‘old becomes new’,” says Dr Clark. “When performing aesthetic medical treatments, my goal is to refresh my patient’s appearance while preserving and accentuating their unique character. The goal is to help patients look refreshed and renewed, not different.” He approached the renovation with the same instinct, accentuating the building’s charming heritage features while modernising the overall look. Bespoke designer light fittings and iconic mid-century furniture deliver what he calls “a new look in an old space.” The bones of the building did much of the work. Dr Clark began by uncovering and polishing the original timber floorboards, then painted every wall and ceiling white and hung clean, modern grey curtains. “The idea was to allow the heritage ornate plasterwork, panelled doors and marbled fireplaces to really stand out,” he explains. Rather than reaching for period-accurate fixtures or wallpapers initially, he chose pieces that feel “modern and creative… fun and quirky.” That tension between old and new runs throughout the 300-square-metre space, which houses seven generously sized treatment rooms. For Dr Clark, comfort was the design priority. “I wanted a space that was different and much more fun than traditional medical and dental practices,” he says. “Visitors to aesthetic clinics are often quite anxious about their upcoming treatments, and I believe 18 | SPA+CLINIC

having a comfortable, spacious, quiet clinic with some personality truly helps to put patients at ease.” Achieving that meant deliberately avoiding the visual cues of a conventional clinical setting. In place of stainless-steel medical trolleys and Laminex cabinetry, Dr Clark chose mid-century bar carts and Scandinavian tallboys. Instead of the treatment marketing posters supplied by injectable and device companies, the walls are hung with artwork that is “thought-provoking, random and quirky.” Professionalism and cleanliness still had to read clearly — just not at the expense of creating an impression. Beneath the design flourishes sits serious clinical infrastructure. Skin treatments, particularly with energy-based devices, have become an increasingly important part of the practice, and adapting a heritage building to accommodate them was no small feat. Dr Clark installed a lift to make it possible to move devices into the upstairs treatment rooms, allowing the clinic to expand its treatment capabilities across both levels. The addition also provided an opportunity to redecorate several spaces, including the feature wallpaper (pictured top right), which was added in 2023. Other rooms throughout the clinic also feature full-wall mural-style wallpaper designs, creating a distinctive and considered environment for patients. When we asked Dr Clark for the room that best captures MIRA, he points to the view down the main corridor. “We have modern designer chandeliers overlooking quirky artwork, a mid-century handpainted ‘reception’ sign, a 1920s marquee arrow next to the antique staircase with brass stair rods,” he says. “All of these elements are from different eras and showcase an irreverent and eclectic mix.” It is a view, much like Wonderland itself that rewards a little curiosity by being timeless, memorable and unmistakably unique.

THE TREATMENT ROOM

The Treatment Room

Where the latest treatments and technologies in spa and aesthetics are put to the test.

Medik8 Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ Pro Concentrate Put to the test by Stephanie McLean, Managing Editor I’ve had my fair share of skin needling over the years, but this was the first time I’d experienced it alongside Medik8’s new Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ Pro Concentrate. Designed exclusively for professional treatments, the concentrate is applied during microneedling to support skin regeneration, hydration and recovery. My treatment was performed by Nathalie at Lavish Skin & Body in Toorak, who began with a thorough consultation before preparing my skin with an LED session. We discussed my key concerns, including my ongoing battle with melasma, and Nathalie tailored the treatment accordingly, spending a little more time focusing on these areas. Once the needling was complete, the Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ Pro Concentrate was applied to the skin, followed by a cooling mask and ice globes to help calm any residual heat and redness. It was the perfect way to finish the treatment, leaving my skin feeling instantly soothed and refreshed. To help maintain the results at home, I was also sent home with Medik8’s Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ serum, allowing me to continue supporting my skin between treatments. I was impressed by how quickly my skin settled post-treatment, with noticeably less

redness and tightness than I’ve experienced after previous needling treatments. I also didn’t experience the breakouts I’ve previously had with other exosome and PDRN-based products, which made the recovery process particularly impressive.

Intraceuticals Oxygen Facial Put to the test by Nadine Dilong, Digital Editor Walking into Melissa Young Beauty, it’s immediately apparent this is no ordinary skin clinic. Following extensive renovations two years ago, the space feels more akin to a luxury day spa, with earthy tones, rich dark timber and striking green-hued marble creating an atmosphere that’s both sophisticated and calming. The experience begins before the treatment even starts. A personalised welcome card, chilled water and a cookie awaited me, thoughtful touches that instantly made me feel less like a client and more like a guest. After settling onto a heated treatment bed, Melissa began with a deep cleanse, followed by a lymphatic massage to encourage circulation and, as she later explained, further enhance absorption of the treatment serum. I had told her she was welcome to talk me through each step as she worked, but instead she smiled and insisted I simply relax, promising 20 | SPA+CLINIC

she’d explain everything afterwards. I appreciated that approach as it allowed me to completely switch off rather than analyse every stage of the treatment (although that IS my job). For the oxygen infusion, Melissa selected Intraceuticals’ new Exosome+V serum, explaining afterwards that she loves incorporating the treatment before more corrective procedures because it helps skin cells “do their job at an optimal level”, creating healthier skin that responds better to future treatments. The Oxygen Facial itself was exactly as promised: cool, calming and incredibly soothing. As the oxygen applicator was guided across my face, there was no discomfort, only a refreshing sensation that made the treatment feel more like a spa ritual than a clinical procedure. Immediately afterwards, my skin looked noticeably calmer, deeply hydrated and visibly more radiant. Rather than the tightness that can follow more intensive skin treatments, my complexion felt comfortable, plump and refreshed.

THE TREATMENT ROOM

Dermapen Put to the test by Kym Cowper, Integrated Partnerships Director I have to be honest. Many years ago, I had a Dermapen treatment and remember it being quite painful. So when I was invited to experience a full treatment incorporating Dermapen’s exosomes, and was told I had to see Fabienne from The Facial Room Bondi — dermal clinician and somewhat of a Dermapen magician — I was excited to give it another go. Fabienne began with a thorough cleanse using Dermapen’s TRI-PHASE CLEANSER and steam. With strong, firm hands, she really worked the skin and I loved it. Next came LED, accompanied by an incredible scalp, shoulder, back and neck massage. I’ve never had a massage under LED before, and what a difference it makes. Then it was Dermapen time. Fabienne’s technique is quite unique. With one hand she works with the Dermapen, while the other massages the exosomes into the skin. The constant movement is a clever distraction from the needling and made the treatment surprisingly comfortable and completely different to what I remembered. Afterwards, she applied a cooling Dermapen mask while I enjoyed yet another massage across my back, arms and hands. By this stage, I was completely relaxed. She finished with Dermapen’s EXO-SKIN SERUM and VITAMIN RICH REPAIR. I loved experiencing more of the skincare range designed to support Dermapen 4 treatments. Fabienne treats many VIPs and media clients, and I can understand why. Her care, precision and technique were next level, turning a clinical skin treatment into a genuinely relaxing experience.

Whimsy Signature Facial Put to the test by Stephanie McLean, Managing Editor I’ve often thought there is a gap in the market between clinical treatments and traditional spa-style experiences. A treatment that could utilise clinical-grade products, devices and advanced skin knowledge, yet still exist within a deeply relaxing, sensory environment. That is exactly what dermal clinician Molly Sugrue, founder of Whimsy Facial Studio has created. Using Lira Clinical as her backbar product of choice, Molly seamlessly blends her dermal expertise with products often found within an aesthetics clinic but delivers them in a way you don’t expect. To this day, this remains one of the most relaxing treatments I have experienced. It feels incredibly indulgent, but knowing every step is performed with a deep understanding of the skin, rather than simply delivering a “fluffy facial”, makes the experience feel even more considered. I believe the secret lies not only in Molly’s incredible touch, but in the thoughtful details throughout the treatment. Her use of artist knives rather than traditional single-use tongue depressors creates an application experience that feels almost otherworldly. She also performs the most magical arm and hand massage while under the healite. The treatment is deeply restorative, not only for the skin but for the mind and body. Spending 90 minutes completely immersed in slow massage techniques allowed me to switch off in a way that few treatments achieve.

It’s this balance that makes Molly’s treatment so unique. A facial that supports the skin barrier while also giving you something equally valuable. The opportunity to pause, reset and leave feeling genuinely renewed.

Inside Clinic Connect 2026

SkinCeuticals and skinbetter science bring industry leaders together to explore growth strategies, the evolving consumer landscape and their upcoming innovations.

I

t began as some of the best events do, around a table of industry peers, with a branded cocktail and a three-course dinner. But that’s where the similarity to other events ended. L’Oréal and the team that manages SkinCeuticals and now skinbetter science have created an education day like no other. From the venue location to the agenda, the planning is chef’s kiss. More than 75 delegates were welcomed to Melbourne to start the event by enjoying panoramic views over the city at Blacksmith Bar & Grill, which resides inside the Voco Hotel. A space whose interior style matches the brand DNA of the SkinCeuticals range. Rather than starting with long talks on a Monday evening, guests were invited to mingle, network and enjoy dinner before heading off for an early night to enjoy their goodie bags, which included the iconic Biocellulose Restorative Masque and a chance to pre-skin ahead of Tuesday’s full day.

The Market, In Motion Sam Russell, General Manager of the two brands, opened by highlighting the strength of SkinCeuticals, which is currently the number-one medical aesthetic skincare brand in Australia. She shared that even within today’s economic climate, skincare is showing resilience, particularly when paired with in-clinic treatments. Behind that resilience sits the power of recommendation, with forty-eight per cent of Australian women buying a product when a clinician recommends it. Looking ahead, she pointed to the Japanese skincare influences and the broader Asian trends now shaping what Australians are looking for.

Strategy And Leadership Stewart Gillies of Red Sky Consulting opened his session by asking the delegates to reflect on what really matters in their business, and how to turn ideas into action. A key filter he offered: just because you could do something, doesn’t mean you should. Less is more. Could versus should. The principle applies across the board, whether chasing 22 | SPA+CLINIC

efficiency, weighing up a new device, launching a treatment, or any of the everyday decisions shaping a business. From there, he helped the room workshop their priorities, how they’ll be applied, and the action steps needed to actually move the needle.

Marketing And The Clinic Floor Perry Henderson of Missing Link Social Media shared how to build a marketing engine that works. He covered how to create compliant ads, how to build custom GPTs to support marketing compliance, and how paid ads translate into revenue. Perry also encouraged the room to look closely at sales KPIs and to understand how many raw leads a clinic is getting, how many are sales-qualified, how many have purchased or booked in, and just as importantly, where those leads are coming from. Hanya Oversby followed by turning the room’s attention inward. Before chasing more leads, look at the database you already have. Simple strategies and levers will surface more revenue than another ad campaign. Start with the basics: rebooking rates, customer feedback, skincare follow-ups, and reactivating cold leads. Her advice was simple: every patient should leave with a clear next step prepared at the conclusion of their treatment. Retention, she stressed, is where lifetime value is built.

Innovation On The Horizon The event closed with Dr Tania Remano, Head of Medical and Education, sharing some exciting new product innovations on the horizon. A new P-Tiox Cream is on the way later this year, as well as a newly redeveloped Phyto Corrective PDRN serum. More than a traditional brand event, Clinic Connect reflected the growing appetite for education that supports not only clinical outcomes, but the broader realities of running a modern aesthetic business. 9 Key Learnings From A26 Every Practitioner Should Know What the experts taught us over the 4-day conference.

F

ew conferences have a personality quite like Aesthetics (A26). Founded by Dr Steven Liew, the annual event has become known for blending world-class education with thoughtful design, theatrical storytelling and a refreshingly modern approach to aesthetic medicine. This year’s opening was unlike anything delegates had seen before. In a blacked-out room, a spotlight illuminated five speakers who each embodied a different layer of facial anatomy – I am the Epidermis, Dermis, Fat, Muscle and Bone. Through performance and science, they explored each anatomical part’s role, how to preserve it, and perhaps most importantly, what not to do to it. Across four days of injectables workshops, skincare education and longevity discussions, these were some of the biggest takeaways.

1. The Epidermis Deserves More Attention After the age of 30, the epidermis thins by around 6.4% every decade, reinforcing the importance of maintaining skin barrier function. The session highlighted that healthy skin isn’t simply cosmetic – it’s the foundation upon which every aesthetic treatment is built.

2. Not All Facial Fat Ages Equally The sub-orbicularis oculi fat (SOOF) appears to be the only permanent, well-defined compartment within the deep facial fat layer. Other deep fat compartments are influenced by age and BMI, highlighting the complexity of facial ageing and why treatment plans should be highly individualised.

3. Be Conservative With Fat-Reducing Treatments Once facial fat is destroyed through lipolysis or radiofrequency treatments, replacing it is extremely difficult. Speakers encouraged practitioners to exercise caution, particularly as volume loss remains one of the defining characteristics of facial ageing.

4. Platysmal Bands Aren’t Just About Muscle Visible platysmal bands don’t simply occur because the muscle becomes stronger. Instead, surrounding tissues lose structural support over time, allowing the muscle to become more prominent. Understanding the underlying cause is key to choosing appropriate treatment strategies.

5. Hyaluronic Acid Can’t Lift Ligaments One of the anatomy sessions reinforced that hyaluronic acid filler cannot lift facial ligaments. Rather than attempting to reposition ligamentous structures, practitioners should focus on restoring support and respecting facial anatomy to achieve natural-looking outcomes.

6. Technology Is Only As Good As The Operator Whether using ultrasound, radiofrequency or other energy-based devices, speakers repeatedly emphasised that clinical outcomes depend less on the device itself and more on the practitioner’s knowledge, assessment and treatment technique.

7. Treatment Plans Should Constantly Evolve Patient retention isn’t about repeating the same treatments year after year. Delegates were encouraged to continually reassess patients, adapting treatment plans as their anatomy, concerns and life stage change to deliver better long-term outcomes.

8. Hormones Matter For Skin Health Early hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may help reduce some skin changes associated with menopause, but experts noted it cannot fully replace the dramatic decline in oestrogen or completely prevent the associated loss of collagen.

9. Longevity Conversations Are Expanding Longevity medicine extended beyond skin health, with emerging research suggesting NAD+ may have the potential to preserve egg quality and support fertility. While the evidence continues to evolve, fertility is increasingly becoming part of the broader longevity conversation. From anatomy and injectables to skin health and longevity, A26 once again demonstrated why it continues to stand apart on the aesthetics conference calendar. Rather than chasing trends, the program challenged delegates to rethink established concepts and return to the fundamentals – with patient-centred care and evidencebased practice at the core. Of course, there was also a memorable social function, runway-themed and glammed up, which saw delegates strut down the stage runway and celebrate in style! WRITTEN BY NADINE DILONG, DIGITAL EDITOR

Community Takes Centre Stage At Juv’ae’s Cosmetic Collective 2026 A conference created by nurses, for nurses.

J

uv’ae’s Cosmetic Collective Conference returned to The Langham Gold Coast from 21-23 June, drawing 40 per cent more attendees than the previous year alongside 19 exhibitors and sponsors, 23 speakers, 17 workshops – and an unlimited amount of opportunity for cosmetic nurses. This year’s conference quickly confirmed its drawcard: as one delegate summed it up, the weekend delivered “100 per cent community, connection and inspiration.” That sense of connection was felt from the outset, with a striking digital media wall delegates could sign via tablet on arrival, setting an interactive tone for the rest of the program. 24 | SPA+CLINIC

The speaker line-up tackled some of the industry’s most pressing clinical and business questions. Dr Van Park addressed the aesthetic needs of patients on GLP-1 medications, sharing injection techniques adapted for rapid weight-loss-related volume change, a topic also explored across multiple Day 3 workshops. Dr Lucas de Siqueira examined the neuroscience of facial perception, unpacking how the brain is wired to read certain features as aged versus youthful, ahead of his workshop on V-shape restoration. Wendy El-Khoury walked delegates through building social media-driven patient acquisition while staying AHPRA and TGA compliant, while

This year’s conference quickly confirmed its drawcard: as one delegate summed it up, the weekend delivered “100 per cent community, connection and inspiration.” Rana Kennelly, who runs a successful medispa and training facility in Chicago, educated nurses on treating the lower face. We particularly loved the panel of Juv’ae nurses at the end of Day 1, who gave a candid look at the challenges and learnings of running your own aesthetic business including specifics, such as the hidden costs of rebranding a clinic. Despite the breadth of topics on the program, one theme drew universal agreement: the value of a long, comprehensive consultation as the foundation of good patient outcomes, a thread that ran through sessions from Suzie Hoitink’s consultation masterclass to the closing nurses’ panel. Day 3 shifted gears entirely, with dozens of hands-on workshops running across injectables, photography, skincare and energy-based devices, giving nurses the chance to immediately apply what they’d absorbed across the first two days. Beyond the clinical content, the conference’s heart was its origin story. Juv’ae co-founders Nicole Schmid-Sanele and Melissa Isaia gave a heartfelt account of why they built the event, rooted firmly in community, with MC Jacinta King steering the conference with warmth throughout. Melissa Isaia emphasised that education doesn’t end on the stage. The real impact happens when knowledge is translated into hands-on workshops and implemented back in clinic, turning inspiration into better patient outcomes. That mission appeared to land particularly strongly with newer faces in the room. A noticeable number of nurses new to aesthetics said they felt relieved to have found a community willing to share its knowledge so openly, soaking up advice across every session. “CC26 completely changed my mindset. I left believing I can build a bigger business, open my own clinic, and make cosmetics my full-time career. The knowledge shared throughout the conference far exceeded my expectations. I left feeling inspired, motivated, and ready to grow,” Ashley Jarnell, RN, told us. This sentiment was shared by the team at Vue Aesthetics, who said “CC26 was filled with world-class education, honest conversations, and incredible people. Investing in education means investing in our patients. Every conference inspires us to deliver safer, more evidence-informed care. I left feeling inspired, recharged, and excited for what’s ahead.” Juv’ae’s commitment to that support extends beyond the conference itself, with grants now on offer, in partnership with its brand partners, to help nurses travel to other industry conferences for further training and education. With record attendance, a packed clinical program and an unmistakable sense of camaraderie, Cosmetic Collective Conference 2026 reinforced exactly what its founders set out to build: a community-first event where education and connection go hand in hand. CC26 proved that the future of aesthetic nursing is strongest when nurses lead it themselves – a conference created by nurses, for nurses, delivering the education, connection and sense of belonging our profession has been searching for. Australian guests spent three days becoming certified ARTOLOGISTS™, exploring the science behind a more personalised approach to skin treatment. Rather than simply teaching treatment protocols, the program challenged attendees to think outside the box, exploring advanced customisation techniques and the science that allows clinicians to move beyond a one-size-fits-all approach. The 2026 Conference theme was UBUNTU – a South African philosophy meaning “I am, because we are”. Travelling together and immersing themselves in a new culture brought this philosophy to life, reinforcing the power of connection with one another and a global community united by a shared passion for skin health. Terrie of Skinclair Beauty Room described the atmosphere simply as “heartwarming” and the education as “exceptional – the best I’ve experienced in my 21 years in the industry.” For Joanne of Elara Spa, the experience became a defining moment. “Experiencing the ART Club and completing ARTOLOGIST™ certification was one of the best educational experiences of my career. Being around some of the most talented skin therapists from Australia was inspirational and has already changed the way I coach my team and treat my clients.” The Conference program concluded with a final day at Johannesburg’s luxurious Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa, where

delegates reflected on the week, celebrated their achievements and strengthened the friendships formed throughout the journey. Professional education grounded in science has always been at the heart of pHformula. ART CLUB represents pHformula’s ongoing investment in the professionals who deliver skin treatments every day, providing therapists with access to international educators, global perspectives and expansive learning. Director of Fleur Skin and Wellness, Naomi, shares her experience, “My time at the pHformula Art Club in South Africa was nothing short of inspiring. The education was exceptional, but what impacted me most was the passion, warmth and purpose behind every part of the experience. Listening to Diana share her wisdom, meeting Petru, and seeing firsthand the care, innovation, and heart that goes into pHformula reaffirmed exactly why we chose to partner with the brand. I returned home with a renewed passion for our industry, a fresh perspective on my business and an even deeper belief that great education and genuine care are what truly set exceptional brands apart.” Applications are now open for the next pHformula Australia ART CLUB Conference, taking place in Barcelona, Spain. Next Generation Of Regenerative Skincare With ALASTIN On July 27, we enjoyed a beautiful morning at Centennial Park Hotel in Paddington, joining the ALASTIN Skincare team for an intimate and exclusive breakfast. More than 30 leading practitioners, nurses and doctors were invited to join ALASTIN Brand Manager Zoe Sultani and BDM Paras Cladkis, who had the honour of accompanying leading London consultant Plastic Surgeon Dr Priyanka Chadha for a morning dedicated to education, clinical studies and the science behind ALASTIN’s patented technology. One of the most interesting conversations was around skin quality versus skin health, and what patients often perceive as “good skin” compared with what Dr Chadha looks for clinically when assessing truly healthy, functioning skin. She also challenged the perception that a higher price tag automatically means a better skincare product. It’s not simply about cost, but the science, formulation, stability, delivery and clinical evidence behind it. We learnt more about ALASTIN’s proprietary TriHex Technology® and the new C-RADICAL Defense Antioxidant Serum, including the importance of vitamin C stability and how Dr Chadha incorporates ALASTIN into her own practice, particularly alongside energy-based treatments to prepare and support the skin before and after procedures. The clinical data was equally impressive. In one study, 98% agreed their skin hydration improved, 89% reported an improvement in overall skin texture and 93% reported overall satisfaction. We also saw some incredible before-and-afters demonstrating amplified hydration.

Powered by Octapeptide-45, the technology is designed to support the skin’s natural regenerative ability, helping support the production of fresh collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. An incredible room of industry professionals, fascinating clinical data and a morning that really reinforced the conversation around skin health, science and regeneration. Regenerative skincare on a whole other level.

Strategy Before Aesthetics LBD STUDIOS founder JESSICA LONGMORE on what it really takes to build a brand that grows

B

rand is no longer just a logo, according to Jessica Longmore, founder and creative director of LBD STUDIOS — it is a framework for growth. With more than a decade of experience spanning luxury design and real estate, including Whitefox Real Estate, Jess has helped shape brands such as HÜD Skin + Body, Refined Wellness, Dental Boutique and Tahnee Raine. Even the name of the studio, LBD (Life by Design), speaks to a broader philosophy of intentional creation and manifestation. We sat down with Jess to understand what it really takes to build a brand in a market where consumers are increasingly brand conscious, and aesthetics alone are no longer enough.

The Most Common Branding Mistake For Jess, brand failure almost always stems from the same issue: starting too far down the funnel. Businesses often rush straight to logos and visual identities before defining the foundations that should inform them. She says the culprit is usually speed. AI tools and template-based design make it easy to produce something polished in an afternoon, but those shortcuts often bypass the thinking required for a brand to endure. A visual identity, she notes, cannot resolve a lack of clarity at the core. The real work lies in understanding what an audience values, and translating that into something they connect with and return to.

Strategy Before Anything That conviction shapes every project LBD STUDIOS undertakes. Before a single colour is selected or font considered, Jess focuses on positioning. Examining business objectives, brand goals and target audiences. At the 30 | SPA+CLINIC

BUSINESS

“Commercial intent remains the guiding principle, ensuring every decision is anchored to a clear rationale and built to deliver measurable outcomes so that brands are investing in results, not just something visually appealing.” centre of the process sits a defining question. What sets this brand apart, and why should a customer choose it over another? Only then does the creative brief take form, guiding everything that follows from tone of voice through to identity design. She is clear that this is not a design exercise, but foundational infrastructure. As essential to a business as its accountant or legal counsel.

Jess with Chiara McKeller. Client and creative strategist

Never Cookie-Cutter This approach also explains why her work resists repetition. Because each brief is built from a client’s own objectives and point of difference, no two outcomes are the same. The brief for HÜD, for example, sits worlds apart from Refined Wellness. One moody and elevated, the other nurturing and comforting. To avoid category sameness, Jess actively looks beyond the sector for inspiration. “It’s our job to look outside the sector. To fashion, luxury and broader global influences, so we’re not always pulling from the same well,” she says. While aesthetics play an important role, beauty is never the end goal. Commercial intent remains the guiding principle, ensuring every decision is anchored to a clear rationale and built to deliver measurable outcomes so that brands are investing in results, not just something visually appealing.

How A Brand Lives In The World Jess’s approach is less about isolated assets and more about how a brand is experienced over time. Each element is mapped and tested prior to launch, then applied across considered touchpoints to shape the full customer journey. The result is a cohesive brand world that feels consistent and intentional at every interaction. At launch, clients either carry the work forward independently or continue with LBD STUDIOS for ongoing brand management.

Why Brand Is Everything For Jess, branding’s influence on perception, trust and decisionmaking is absolute. “The power of brand, and understanding what the customer wants, is the foundation to the success of any business,” she says. “Without that, you don’t have customers.” She points to Refined Wellness as an example. A young business that appears so established and refined can attract opportunities well beyond its years. But she is quick to emphasise balance. Looking the part is only half the equation. “You’ve got to look the part, know the part and deliver the part,” she says, “over and over again.”

HÜD Skin + Body

The Bottom Line It all returns to a single principle. Strategy before aesthetics. From positioning through to identity, launch and ongoing stewardship, every stage ensures a brand is both visually compelling and commercially sustainable. It’s this clarity of approach that led us to trust Jess and her team with the design of our new Scripted platform. WRITTEN BY STEPHANIE MCLEAN, MANAGING EDITOR

New Spaces Discover the newest spas and clinics making waves in wellness and aesthetics. The Skin House Tamika Pilcher didn’t set out to build Bendigo’s most talked-about skin clinic. She set out to do something far more personal. To change the way people think about and care for their skin. With a background in nursing and a deep passion for evidencebased skin health, Tamika founded The Skin House on three things she believes in deeply: trust, genuine human connection, and creating a space that feels reachable for everyone who walks through the door. What followed has been a story of quiet, consistent growth. In May 2026, that story entered a new chapter with a considered rebrand and a move into a purpose-built new home on Wills Street, Bendigo. A space designed not just to look beautiful, but to feel like somewhere you belong the moment you arrive. Today, The Skin House is home to a close-knit team of registered nurses and dermal therapists who take a truly collaborative approach to skin health and ageing. Consultations bring together both the therapist and nurse perspective, ensuring every client receives a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses their skin from every angle. From personalised treatment planning to laser treatments, skin needling and the signature Japanese Head Spa experience, the offering is as comprehensive as the care behind it. The clinic partners with SkinCeuticals and skinbetter science — two of the world’s most

respected medical-grade skincare brands — because evidence-based results matter here as much as the experience of getting them. The clinic’s loyal and growing client community reflects something harder to manufacture than clever marketing. Genuine trust. For Tamika, the mission has never changed. “I want every client to leave understanding their skin better than when they walked in. That’s what real skin health looks like.”

Sanctuary Prahran Having recently established Sanctuary, her own multidisciplinary wellness destination in Prahran, Ellie Livaditis has created a space where elevated aesthetics and holistic wellbeing exist under one roof. Now the home of Aesthetixx, Sanctuary brings together a collective of like minded practitioners, offering clients a destination dedicated to beauty, wellness and self-care. LÚUM Aesthetics & Vitality Three years ago, LÚUM Aesthetics began in a small heritage building in Perth CBD with a simple vision from founders Hayley Anderson and Dani Gardner — to create a space where people felt genuinely cared for, educated, and empowered in their skin journey. Today, that vision has grown into LÚUM Aesthetics & Vitality, a purpose-built clinic in West Perth and a team of 12 passionate professionals dedicated to delivering collaborative, patient-centred care. The clinic now brings together a diverse team including two dermal therapists, five registered nurses, a Nurse Practitioner, a General Practitioner, and an exceptional customer service and frontof-house team, each contributing their unique expertise to provide truly holistic care. At LÚUM, we believe that healthy skin rarely exists in isolation. Increasingly, the future of aesthetic medicine is recognising the connection between inner health and outward appearance —

considering factors such as hormones, nutrition, inflammation, lifestyle, and overall wellbeing alongside advanced skin and aesthetic treatments. While we are still learning and evolving every day, this philosophy has become the heart of our approach. The clinic offers a comprehensive range of technologies and services, including the Hollywood Spectra laser, Sciton BBL and Moxi, and Sylfirm X RF microneedling, alongside treatments for acne, rosacea, dermatitis and skin health concerns. Through LÚUM Vitality, the team has also expanded into women’s health services, offering support in areas such as hormone profiling, menopause, weight management and integrative health. The New Rules of Brand Imagery In The Age Of AI Choosing between AI imagery and real talent? We sat down with TARYN WILLIAMS, founder of Wink Models, to understand where each belongs — and how to hire talent that actually builds trust.

A

ccording to Meta, imagery and creative assets are the single largest driver of advertising performance and brand value. Yet with the rapid rise of AI image generation, many brands are unsure what to use, and where to invest for the greatest return. The instinct, says Taryn Williams — founder of Wink Models and a Harvard-trained AI strategy advisor — is to frame it as a competition. AI imagery versus real people. But the more useful question is not which one wins. It is where each belongs, and how they should be used together.

Where Real People Win

Cindy N for Skin Control AI Imagery by @somm_bird

Start with what only real people can do. In aesthetics and wellness, the person in a campaign image is there to communicate something specific: this result is possible, on a real person, who could look like you. Taryn Williams is the When a clinic runs a campaign for founder of Wink Models, The Right Fit, The Influencers skin rejuvenation or body contouring, Agency, #Gifted, and the talent is signalling that this result Notable Co, a multi-exit founder, board director is achievable on a real person the and AI strategy advisor. audience might actually relate to. “That is a fundamentally different brief to fashion or e-commerce, where casting is largely a fit exercise,” Williams says. “Beauty and aesthetic casting is about skin texture, age, ethnicity or energy. It is about what the brand believes is beautiful, and who it believes it is for.” Few people are better placed to judge. Williams founded Wink Models in 2007 and built and exited theright.fit which, by 2023, connected 17,000 talent with 11,000 brands across APAC. A graduate of Harvard Business School’s AI program, she now advises boards on growth and AI transformation.

Where AI Earns Its Place Williams argues AI-generated imagery is not where the strongest commercial return sits for clinics despite being pitched as a replacement for traditional shoots. AI imagery does have a role as social filler content, background assets and early-stage creative testing but it is not, in most cases, the right tool for hero campaign imagery. Nearly two-thirds of consumers say they are uncomfortable with 34 | SPA+CLINIC

AI-generated ads, and around 90 per cent want brands to disclose when AI has been used. “In a category built on trust, that is a real commercial risk,” she says. She points to a telling contrast. When J.Crew replaced human models with AI-generated imagery without disclosure, backlash followed quickly. H&M, by contrast, licensed real models and created AI versions of them with consent. “The difference is transparency,” Williams says. “If you are using AI-generated content, say so.”

BUSINESS

Emily K for O&M

Hiring Real Talent: What Actually Matters If a campaign calls for real people, Williams says the process begins long before a shoot day. It starts with casting. The most common mistake she sees is defaulting to a single type of model: typically young, smooth-skinned and ethnically ambiguous, chosen because it feels safe. But safety is not the same as effectiveness.

“Want to position as the clinic for mature skin? Cast women in their 50s with faces that show character,” she says. “Positioning as inclusive? Diversity in age, skin tone and texture does that faster than any tagline. Your talent choices tell a client whether they belong there before they ever book.” Casting, in other words, is messaging, not decoration. The next layer is commercial structure, where Williams sees expensive mistakes made repeatedly. “Paying for a shoot does not mean you own those images forever, or for any purpose,” she says. Usage rights are negotiated separately from production costs. Standard usage today often sits at around 12 months of online use. Anything beyond that such as print, point of sale, out-of-home, or new regions like New Zealand or China requires additional licensing and fees. Plan your usage before you shoot, but avoid overbuying. “Are you really going to be using the same campaign in five years’ time? Do not pay for usage you are not going to use.” Real people don’t only mean hired models. Founder-led and practitioner-led content is increasingly valuable. “If you are the face of your clinic, that is an asset worth investing in,” she says. On creators, Williams wants brands to rethink their starting point. “Follower count is the wrong question.” What matters is credibility

within the category: “Would they use this product if no one was paying them?” A beauty creator with 50,000 engaged, aesthetics-focused followers will consistently outperform a lifestyle creator with 500,000. “Category credibility, content quality and real audience trust are what you are actually buying.”

The Payoff According to the State of Medical Aesthetics Report, only 18 per cent of medical aesthetic clinics have a formal marketing strategy in place, meaning most are marketing reactively. Clinics that invest intentionally in high-quality imagery, professional photography and a cohesive brand aesthetic immediately separate themselves from competitors still treating marketing as an afterthought. The throughline is not choosing between AI and real people, but understanding what each is for. WRITTEN BY STEPHANIE MCLEAN, MANAGING EDITOR

Cash’s career reads like a map of the industry itself. Cutting her teeth in London working across international markets, she went on to recruit cross-border into new markets including Hong Kong and Singapore, working with everyone from founder-led start-ups to multinationals like L’Oréal and Unilever. Placing everything from executive leadership to niche R&D and sustainability roles. Mentored by industry experts, she now runs Talent Lab Co from the Gold Coast, servicing Australia and New Zealand alongside brands launching into Southeast Asia, the UK and US. So what makes her different? For starters, she’s not afraid to leverage her network and target candidates specifically. “Usually the best hire isn’t actively looking,” she explains. “It’s someone with a unique skillset but could also be from another transferable industry.” It’s a philosophy backed by accountability. Every placement comes with a six-month guarantee period, and if the hire doesn’t work out, she’ll replace them for free. Her process is equally considered. Every search begins with a deep brief, understanding not just the role but the business, team and culture behind it. From there it’s direct search, screening, verifying and qualifying, before a selective shortlist is submitted and interviews arranged. No volume sending, no resume brokering. “The perfect candidate on paper might not be the right fit for the team,” she says, which is why cultural alignment sits alongside technical capability in every search, with honest market feedback relayed both ways. And for those who baulk at recruitment fees, Cash argues the real question is what it costs not to engage a recruiter. The average direct cost of a mis-hire typically starts at 30 per cent of the employee’s

first-year earnings – a minimum of $17,000, rising with the seniority of the role. “It’s an expensive mistake most businesses can’t afford,” she says. When you factor in advertising spend, management hours lost to screening, and the commercial impact of a role sitting empty or, worse, filled badly, the maths quickly changes. It’s also why she’s launching a subscription model, designed for businesses with higher turnover who need a consistent pipeline of quality talent without paying full placement fees each time. Launching in September 2026, it’s a completely tailored retainer approach, with a custom monthly pricing structure shaped by each business’s unique needs and the type of roles being filled.

“Not only does this model help manage cash-flow, it guarantees our commitment in prioritising your roles and acting like a true brand representative in market” With phase two of Talent Lab Co already underway, including a consulting board featuring doctor and dermal expertise, Cash is building more than a recruitment agency. She’s building the industry’s talent partner. And in a market where 86 per cent of her clients come back, it seems the fit is exactly right. 36 | SPA+CLINIC

In-house, Agency Or Fractional CMO? Choosing the right growth model for aesthetic businesses with ZOE GOODHARDT

F

or service-based aesthetic and spa businesses, marketing is what keeps the pipeline moving. It brings in new clients while building a brand people remember. The question isn’t whether to invest in marketing, but how. Do you build a team in-house, engage an agency or hire a fractional chief marketing officer (CMO)? The answer comes down to where the business is at – stage of growth, internal capability and how aggressively you’re looking to scale. Drawing on principles from Byron Sharp’s ‘How Brands Grow: What Marketers Don’t Know’, growth comes from being easy to find and easy to choose. That means showing up consistently, staying top of mind and removing friction in how clients discover and book with you. How you deliver that matters.

In-house: Control And Proximity An in-house marketer brings immediacy. They’re embedded in the business and understand the nuances of your treatments, your team and your client base. For early-stage clinics or founder-led businesses, this proximity can be powerful. But one person can only go so far. Marketing in service-based aesthetics now spans paid media (Google Ads and social), search engine optimisation, content, customer relationship management (CRM) and now AI – all of which need to work together, with a clear view of what a viable cost per lead looks like. Expecting a single marketer to be strong across all of these is a stretch. In-house works well when you need day-today execution and brand stewardship, but it often requires external specialists to fill capability gaps.

campaigns, building consistent content and CRM activity that drives retention, referrals and repeat bookings. For growth-stage clinics looking to scale lead generation, this can be a significant advantage. Agencies also bring diversity of thinking. One of the most underestimated risks in marketing is the ‘echo chamber’ – when all ideas come from the same perspective. That said, agencies require clear direction. Without strong internal leadership or a clear strategic brief, even the best agency can end up working without alignment to broader business goals.

Fractional CMO: Strategy Without Full-Time Overhead A fractional CMO sits between in-house and agency. They bring senior strategic oversight on a part-time or contract basis, without the cost of a full-time executive. For many aesthetic businesses, this can be an attractive option – particularly when transitioning from founder-led marketing to something more structured. The limitation? A fractional CMO is still one person. While they come with experience and strategic direction, they don’t inherently bring delivery capacity or a team of specialists. The role itself now spans performance, brand, data and customer experience – which is difficult for any individual operator to cover end-to-end. Without the right support network – freelancers, agencies or internal staff – progress can stall.

Agency: Depth And Breadth Agencies bring a team – strategists, media buyers, creatives and developers, each focused on their craft. This breadth allows for more sophisticated work across channels and faster adaptation as platforms evolve. It also allows clinics to move beyond one-off 38 | SPA+CLINIC

Zoe Goodhardt is a Partner at TAG, a digital growth consultancy combining strategy, people, marketing and technology to unlock growth across the full customer journey.

So, Which Model Is Right? Early-stage clinics may lean in-house for agility. Growth-stage businesses often benefit from agency support to scale. Those in transition may find a fractional CMO provides the strategic bridge. Often, the right approach is a hybrid – strategic oversight paired with specialist execution. In a category where trust, visibility and consistency drive growth, the focus shouldn’t be on choosing one model over another. It’s about building the right ecosystem around your business.

The Consultation Is The Treatment Why Dr Cara McDonald is redefining aesthetic education

I

n aesthetic medicine, technical skill is essential. But according to Dr Cara McDonald, some of the biggest challenges practitioners face don’t stem from treatment technique. They come from communication. After more than a decade of educating aesthetic practitioners, Dr Cara recognised a gap in industry training. While there is extensive education around products, anatomy and injection techniques, the consultation itself is often overlooked, despite being one of the most influential parts of the patient journey. We sat down with Dr Cara to discuss why consultation skills are becoming increasingly important in modern aesthetic practice, where practitioners commonly struggle and what clinicians can expect from her new 12-module course designed to elevate their consultation approach.

What prompted you to develop a course focused specifically on the aesthetic consultation? Over the last decade of teaching aesthetic practitioners, I realised that very little time is devoted to the skill that arguably has the greatest impact on patient satisfaction: the consultation. Many of the challenges practitioners experience—whether it’s patients declining appropriate treatment plans, dissatisfaction despite technically good outcomes, complaints or consultation fatigue—often have their roots in communication rather than clinical technique. I wanted to create a practical framework that helps practitioners communicate more effectively, build trust, manage expectations and ultimately enjoy practising more.

In your experience, where do practitioners most commonly struggle during the consultation process? One of the biggest challenges is moving beyond simply responding to the treatment a patient asks for and instead conducting a comprehensive aesthetic assessment. Many practitioners lack confidence in discussing the bigger picture, explaining facial ageing, presenting staged treatment plans or talking about costs without feeling like they are selling. Others struggle with setting realistic expectations, recognising psychological red flags or navigating difficult conversations when a patient has unrealistic goals. These are rarely technical problems. They are communication skills that can be learnt, practised and refined.

Why has the consultation become more important in aesthetic practice today? Patients today are far more informed, but they are also more influenced by social media, misinformation and unrealistic expectations than ever before. As aesthetic medicine becomes increasingly competitive, patients

have more choice. The consultation is often what differentiates one practitioner from another. It is where trust is built, expectations are aligned and patients decide whether they feel understood.

How does the quality of a consultation influence patient satisfaction, treatment outcomes and long-term relationships? One of the concepts I discuss in the course is that patients often judge the overall experience by the functional quality of care, not just the technical quality. Patients remember whether they felt listened to, whether they felt understood, whether the consultation was personalised and whether they trusted your recommendations. Those factors heavily influence how they ultimately perceive their results. In many ways, patient satisfaction is determined before treatment even begins.

What can practitioners expect to learn from the 12 modules, and how is the course designed to translate into everyday clinical practice? The course is designed to provide a practical consultation framework that practitioners can implement immediately in clinic. Across the 12 modules, we cover topics including patient psychology, building trust and rapport, consultation structure, communication techniques, comprehensive facial assessment, presenting staged treatment plans, discussing costs confidently, managing expectations, recognising Body Dysmorphic Disorder and other psychological red flags, handling difficult conversations and improving long-term patient relationships. Rather than focusing on theory alone, every module is centred around real clinical scenarios and practical strategies that can be applied in everyday consultations. The goal isn’t simply to help practitioners become better communicators. It’s to help them feel more confident, improve patient satisfaction, reduce difficult consultations and complaints, increase treatment acceptance where appropriate, and ultimately build a more enjoyable and sustainable aesthetic practice. How To Create Your Own Skincare Line Inside UA Manufacturing, the TGA-licensed skincare facility that has been building Australia’s next generation of skincare brands from behind the scenes — until now.

A

sk any clinic owner, nurse or dermal clinician who has dreamed of launching their own skincare line and they’ll tell you the hardest part isn’t the vision. It’s knowing where to start. Enter UA Manufacturing (UniAsia Technologies), a high-capacity manufacturing partner in Melbourne’s west that has positioned itself as the facility building brands behind the scenes, at scale. UA is the fourth factory in a multinational network, whose portfolio spans almost 30 brands and more than half a billion units sold, including cult classic MOR Boutique. The Australian facility was established six years ago with one clear ambition: to become a TGA-licensed site. In March this year, that ambition became a reality.

One Facility, One Standard That TGA licence is what separates UA from a standard cosmetic manufacturer. While cosmetics can technically be made without oversight, therapeutic goods cannot, and UA now operates its entire facility, whether producing cosmetics or therapeutics, under a single GMP (good manufacturing practice) clinical-grade quality system. “You can’t cut corners on standards in business,” the team explains. “Whether you make cosmetics or therapeutics, there has to be one standard.” The licence currently covers sunscreens, with variations underway to extend across gels, ointments, creams and lotions listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG). For brand owners, it means one partner can manufacture an entire portfolio, from cosmeceuticals through to AUST L-listed products, rather than juggling 40 | SPA+CLINIC

BUSINESS

multiple vendors. And thanks to mutual recognition agreement, a TGA-manufactured product carries serious credibility in international markets with one team member commenting, “the TGA certification is regarded as the best quality skincare worldwide”.

Two Pathways In UA supports founders through two distinct pathways, depending on how quickly they want to launch and how bespoke they want their product to be. Private label is the fastest and most costeffective route into skincare. Founders can select from a catalogue of pre-developed, clinically tested formulations, trial samples, and then tailor the final details such as fragrance and packaging. The typical turnaround is six to twelve weeks, depending on packaging choices and order volumes. Custom formulation is designed for founders seeking something entirely unique. The process begins with a detailed brief outlining key ingredients, texture, performance expectations and desired claims. From there, in-house chemists develop initial lab samples, followed by multiple rounds of refinement. Products then undergo stability, compatibility and microbial testing, along with regulatory review and scale-up. On average, development takes around six months per product, though more realistically nine to twelve months from first consultation through to final delivery. As the team notes, “It comes down to the partner, how clear their brief is and how difficult the concept is.”

Science-backed

The Barriers No One Warns You About

Ingredient integrity runs deep. UA’s parent company operates its own raw material division, complete with nurseries, tissue culture facilities and herbal extraction capabilities, supported by an R&D team of more than 70 chemists. Locally, the quality control lab conducts rigorous testing, including HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) analysis of UV filter concentrations, alongside stability monitoring and physical assessments such as viscosity, pH and density. Crucially, the team insists on clinically supported concentrations. It’s not enough for a hero ingredient to be listed on packaging. It must be included at an effective dosage that delivers real results, with all claims substantiated before ever reaching a label.

So what trips founders up? Minimum order quantities are the big one. Factories need a threshold spend, and warehousing physical stock is a reality many first-time founders underestimate. Unclear briefs are another, dragging development through endless iterations. And for brands manufacturing offshore, shipping delays can leave clinic partners waiting on empty shelves — a growing argument for local manufacture. UA’s answer is to operate as consultant rather than salesperson, shaping a founder’s brief into something that scientifically works, and backing people as much as products. “You’re viewing it on the merits of the product, but also the person,” the team says. “You’re investing time in them, and they’re investing time in you. It’s a two-way thing.”

What’s Trending In The Lab

From Idea To Shelf

The ingredient on everyone’s lips right now? PDRN (Polydeoxyribonucleotide), alongside exosomes and peptides. But the team is quick to note the gap between buzz and understanding. “Consumers hear the buzzword, but what are they really getting? You’re not buying for the concentration of the active, you’re buying the feeling.” It’s exactly why practitioner-led brands, with their efficacyover-hype positioning, are resonating so strongly.

For the clinics, nurses and dermal clinicians watching their retail shelves and wondering what if, the path to your own line has never been more accessible. Strong market traction, investment in growth and readiness to meet realistic order quantities are the entry requirements. The rest, from formulation to compliance to packaging, can happen with one partner, under one roof, to one standard. WRITTEN BY STEPHANIE MCLEAN, MANAGING EDITOR

Four Launches, One Vision

High Tech Medical accelerates into 2026 with Glacial® Skin, Aura 3D Imaging, EXO|E and a landmark Hydrafacial partnership

I

f the first half of 2026 is anything to go by, High Tech Medical is having one of its biggest years since opening its doors in 1999. The Australian and New Zealand distributor has added four significant names to its portfolio: CryoAesthetics® technology Glacial® Skin, Swiss-made Aura 3D Imaging, plant-based exosome range EXO|E, and, in a major industry shift, its appointment as the official ANZ distributor of Hydrafacial. The new additions join an established stable including DEKA, EndyMed, EmCyte PureTWO® and iS Clinical, and reflect the company’s long-held philosophy of curation over volume. “My vision has always been to provide a carefully curated range of technologies that are streamlined with minimal overlap,” says Managing Director Matt Moncrieff. “Our latest launches represent leading innovations that complement our existing portfolio while helping practitioners meet the growing demand for non-invasive and minimally invasive treatments that deliver outstanding results.”

Cool Factor Glacial® Skin is the world’s first and only CryoAesthetics® system, powered by patented Cryomodulation™ technology to treat signs of premature skin ageing caused by inflammation. The precision cooling platform calms redness, encourages exfoliation and boosts brightness across a range of customisable modalities. Used before or after laser, microneedling and RF treatments, Glacial minimises discomfort, erythema and oedema, enhancing patient comfort without numbing or downtime.

The Consultation Reimagined Aura 3D Imaging captures a photo-realistic digital twin of a patient’s face and neck in 0.2 seconds. With 13 integrated cameras and 0.1mm 42 | SPA+CLINIC

accuracy, the Hexagon-powered system analyses facial structure, skin condition and volumetric change within 30 seconds, combining six diagnostic tools in a single capture, including clinically accurate beforeand-afters, vector overlays and treatment simulations offering up to three scenarios per scan. The consultation becomes a shared visual experience between practitioner and patient.

Exosomes Evolved Tapping into one of aesthetics’ most talked-about categories, EXO|E is the first multi-source patented revitalising complex derived from plant stem cell secretory factors. Rather than isolating a single component, the three-step system (D|TOX, EXO|E and RE|PAIR serums) delivers the entire secretome: thousands of bioactive molecules including peptides, growth factors, lipids and exosomes. Designed to work synergistically with microneedling, energy-based devices and laser treatments, it helps minimise post-procedure reactions and downtime, while supporting long-term smoothness, firmness and hydration.

The Hydrafacial Homecoming Perhaps the biggest news of all: Hydrafacial Australia and New Zealand has transitioned from a direct sales model to local distribution, appointing High Tech Medical as its official distributor across the region. One of the world’s most recognised professional skin health treatments, Hydrafacial’s Vortex-Fusion® technology cleanses, exfoliates, extracts, hydrates and nourishes in a single nodowntime protocol, and has become a cornerstone for clinics driving patient retention. Together, the four launches signal a clear direction for High Tech Medical, centred on stronger results, minimal downtime, reduced risk, and a more streamlined portfolio designed for sustained clinic growth.

Introducing SPA+CLINIC A dedicated space for deeper clinical insight, education and industry progression

F

or over 25 years, SPA+CLINIC has been the trusted voice of Australia’s aesthetics, medi and wellness industry. As the landscape continues to evolve, so too does the need for a more defined, clinically focused space. One that speaks directly to healthcare professionals (HCPs) operating at the forefront of the aesthetic industry.

“Scripted is that next step.” Designed as a gated, HCP-only channel, Scripted delivers a more considered layer of content. Bringing together insight across areas often limited by advertising restrictions. This includes navigating Schedule 4 products in market, introducing services such as HRT, and exploring advanced procedures spanning threads, subcision and plastic surgery. Alongside this, there is a clear focus on the realities of practice—

complications, adverse event management, documentation standards and the broader responsibilities of clinical risk and governance. Accessible exclusively to verified healthcare professionals, the platform connects doctors, cosmetic nurses and surgeons within a compliant environment designed for education, progression and professional alignment. Beyond editorial, Scripted introduces a more structured ecosystem for practitioners. A fortnightly newsletter delivers timely, relevant insights, supported by dedicated EDMs aligned to clinical topics and product innovation. A curated events calendar will showcase everything from injecting workshops to cadaver masterclasses, supporting ongoing education and industry connection. More than a content platform, Scripted creates a space where clinical knowledge, business strategy and continuous education intersect and it’s something the team is incredibly proud to bring to the industry.

Launching With Australia’s First All-in-One Schedule 4 E-Book As part of the launch, SPA+CLINIC Scripted introduces a foundational resource for the industry: Australia’s first all-in-one Schedule 4 e-book. In recent years, the volume of injectable products entering the market has accelerated rapidly. indications and integration into treatment plans has become increasingly complex. This e-book has been developed to simplify that. Bringing together key treatments into one cohesive, clinically relevant resource, it offers practitioners a clearer way to understand and navigate the current market. Structured for practical use, it categorises Schedule 4 drugs across key areas—including anti-wrinkle, fillers, biostimulators and more—supporting both day-to-day clinical decision-making and longer-term treatment planning. Accessible as soon as users register and are verified, the e-book will sit alongside ongoing content and fortnightly communications, forming part of a broader, integrated knowledge ecosystem.

A New Chapter For SPA+CLINIC SPA+CLINIC Scripted marks a natural evolution for the brand, strengthening its role beyond traditional media to become a more active partner to the aesthetic medicine industry. Working alongside leading brands and industry partners, Scripted supports practitioners with the tools, insights and education needed to navigate an increasingly sophisticated and rapidly advancing field. As aesthetic medicine continues to move towards more integrated, clinically driven models of care, the need for credible, practitioner-focused platforms will only grow. Scripted has been created to meet that need. Sign up today via the QR code.

“Launching this dedicated HCP channel marks an exciting new chapter for the SPA+CLINIC team. There has long been a desire to speak more openly and in greater depth, though increasingly stringent advertising regulations and the broader medicalisation of the industry have required a more restrained approach. Our focus has always been on going beyond the surface. Moving past general commentary to meaningfully unpack what is happening within clinics, treatment rooms, and behind the scenes of the aesthetics industry. Scripted provides the platform to finally do this with the depth and clarity it deserves. We hope this space becomes a trusted reference point for the aesthetics sector—an essential resource for brands, products, and peer insight within the HCP community.” Stephanie McLean, Managing Editor

“I’m genuinely so excited to bring this to our industry—a much-needed, neutral platform designed to give our readers access to clear, trusted information on Schedule 4 products, from botulinum toxins and HA to bioregulators and stimulators. Over my years at SPA+CLINIC, I’m constantly speaking with both brands and practitioners who are all saying the same thing, they want and need more balanced, non-biased information, and rightly so. The market has evolved so quickly; it’s very different to 10 years ago when there were only a handful of key players. This is about cutting through the noise and supporting our community with credible, considered education.” Kym Cowper, Integrated Partnerships Manager

“Launching SPA+CLINIC Scripted feels like the most natural next step in our publication’s evolution. In the past eight years that I’ve worked at the magazine, we’ve taken SPA+CLINIC to the next level and have succeeded at keeping the aesthetics and wellness industry informed and inspired. Due to the strict advertising regulations in Australia, there was just one puzzle piece missing: the prescription medicine part of our industry. There is so much happening with injectables and HCP-only treatments, and we can’t wait to finally offer our readers a 360-degree portfolio of information that includes all relevant sectors of the ever-evolving aesthetics industry.” Nadine Dilong, Digital Editor

The Originals Still Lead DR JOSEPH HKEIK on why innovation starts with proven technology

You’ve built All Saint Clinic and Le Petit Saint on a philosophy of subtle, considered refinement, your “Three Triangles of Beauty”. Where do Solta’s resurfacing technologies fit within that approach to natural-looking results? Skin is the foundation of everything we do at All Saint Clinic. As an aesthetic doctor, most of my work is about balance and proportion, but none of that reads as considered if the skin underneath is telling a different story. Laser technologies like Fraxel and Clear + Brilliant allow us to support each client’s journey to looking like the best version of themselves. Laser resurfacing complements what we do in clinic. It is not a replacement for aesthetic treatments, but a way to support and enhance them by improving overall skin health and resilience. By supporting the skin’s own natural renewal process, we’re able to achieve better, more consistent outcomes from other treatments, and 46 | SPA+CLINIC

maintain results over time. It reflects our holistic approach, where technologies work alongside aesthetic medicine to deliver longer-term, more refined and natural skin outcomes.

Clear + Brilliant Touch and Fraxel FTX sit at different points on the resurfacing spectrum. How do you decide which device and wavelength is right for a particular patient, skin type or concern? It starts with listening, not with the device. Some patients want to stay ahead of ageing rather than correct it, and for them a lighter, more preventative treatment with almost no downtime is the right call. Others come to me with genuine sun damage, pigmentation or scarring, concerns that need real change, not just polish, and that calls for something deeper. Technology gives me a spectrum to work across, but the decision is always led by what the skin in front of me actually needs and how much downtime that person’s life allows.

esthetics has never been short of new devices. Every year brings another launch promising faster, flashier, better, and every year most of them quietly disappear. Which is why longevity might just be the ultimate measure of innovation. Few names carry the history of Thermage®, Fraxel® and Clear + Brilliant®. The Solta Medical trio helped build the categories practitioners now rely on, earning their place as ‘true icons of energybased aesthetics’. From radiofrequency skin tightening and fractional laser resurfacing to non-ablative rejuvenation, these technologies continue to set the benchmark. But heritage alone doesn’t secure a place on today’s treatment menu. Patients now expect clinically proven results with less discomfort and downtime, while practitioners demand platforms that are faster, smarter and more intuitive, without compromising the consistency and reliability that made the originals industry icons. We sat down with Dr Joseph Hkeik, founder of All Saint Clinic, to explore the enduring appeal of Solta Medical’s best-known technologies.

Fraxel has long been recognised as a pioneering technology in fractional resurfacing. What keeps it central to your treatment menu, and what results are your patients seeking most? Longevity earns trust, and I’ve had more than a decade of consistent results with it. My patients aren’t chasing a different face. They want even tone, refined texture and skin that photographs well without looking like it’s had anything done. We don’t chase trends at All Saint Clinic, we chase what’s trusted and clinically proven. New devices come onto the market every year promising something faster or flashier, but Fraxel has earned its place on our menu through results I can stand behind, session after session, patient after patient. Every decision on our treatment menu is made because I trust it, not because it’s new.

What excites you most about the Fraxel FTX, and what are you hoping to see in patient outcomes and comfort? Comfort changes outcomes more than people realise. A patient who tolerates a treatment well is a patient who completes their program properly, and that consistency is where real results come from. What excites me about the newest generation of this technology is exactly that, a more refined, more comfortable experience built on a platform I already trust. I’m hoping to

see patients move through their sessions more easily and, as a result, more consistently.

All Saint Clinic was one of the earliest adopters of Clear + Brilliant in Australia, while in the United States it’s long been considered one of the most popular preventative laser care. What made you invest in the technology so early, and what do you think Australian patients should know about where Clear + Brilliant fits into a modern skin journey? I’ve never believed in waiting for a technology to become fashionable before trusting it clinically, and the evidence behind Clear + Brilliant was already strong. In the US, it earned its reputation for delivering genuine skin health benefit with next to no downtime, something patients could build into a regular routine rather than an occasional intervention. That’s the shift I wanted to bring here early. For Australian patients, it’s maintenance in the truest sense, and it comfortably fits into most clients’ skin journeys. or decades, aesthetic medicine has been driven by correction. Patients sought treatments to reverse visible signs of ageing once they had appeared. Today, however, the industry is embracing a more proactive philosophy. One centred on preserving skin health before concerns become more complex. This evolution has fuelled the rise of prejuvenation: an approach that prioritises prevention, skin quality and long-term resilience over reactive intervention. Rather than pursuing dramatic transformation, today’s patients are investing in healthy, radiant skin that continues to perform well over time. Regenerative treatments, personalised protocols and combination therapies all reflect this broader shift towards skin longevity. At the heart of prejuvenation is a simple but often overlooked principle: every successful treatment journey begins with healthy skin. Whether a patient is considering laser resurfacing, skin needling, chemical peels, IPL or cosmetic injectables, the condition of the skin beforehand can significantly influence both treatment outcomes and recovery. A strong, hydrated skin barrier provides the ideal foundation, allowing advanced procedures to perform more predictably while supporting optimal healing and patient satisfaction. This is where Hydrafacial has cemented its place within the modern aesthetic practice. Far more than a traditional facial, Hydrafacial is a clinically driven treatment designed to cleanse, exfoliate, extract impurities and replenish the skin with targeted antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid. By improving hydration, supporting barrier function and enhancing overall skin health, it prepares the skin for more advanced procedures while delivering immediate visible results without downtime. Importantly, its value extends well beyond treatment preparation. Regular Hydrafacial sessions contribute to cumulative skin health, helping maintain hydration, clarity and resilience over time. Like 48 | SPA+CLINIC

exercise or preventative dental care, consistent investment in skin health often delivers greater long-term benefits than relying on occasional corrective treatments. The growing popularity of treatment stacking has further reinforced the importance of foundational skin health. While combining technologies can enhance clinical outcomes, practitioners increasingly recognise that results begin with skin that is functioning optimally. Preparing the epidermis before introducing more intensive treatments enables patients to better tolerate invasive procedures and supports a more predictable treatment journey. Consumers are also arriving at clinics better informed than ever before. They are seeking evidence-based recommendations, personalised care and treatments that enhance rather than change their appearance. This growing emphasis on skin quality presents an opportunity for practitioners to reframe consultations around prevention, education and long-term planning instead of correction alone. As the aesthetics industry continues to evolve, one message is becoming increasingly clear. Exceptional outcomes are built, not rushed. By placing skin health at the centre of every treatment plan, clinics can create stronger patient relationships while delivering results that look natural, healthy and enduring. Because in the era of prejuvenation, the best aesthetic results don’t begin with correction. They begin with the foundation.

Choosing The Right Skincare Partner Beyond The Product Why education, science and personalised skin health should be at the heart of your clinic partnership

W

hen it comes to selecting a professional skincare partner, clinics are faced with more choice than ever before. From emerging ingredients and trending treatments to an ever-growing number of brands entering the professional space, knowing which partnerships will truly support long-term client outcomes can be challenging. The right skincare partner should offer more than a product range. They should provide the science, education and clinical confidence required to understand skin at a deeper level. Empowering practitioners to make informed recommendations and create personalised treatment pathways for every client. For clinics looking to build lasting results and stronger client relationships, the question is no longer simply “What products do we stock?” but rather “Who will help us become better skin health experts?”

Education: The Foundation Of Confident Skin Prescribing A professional skincare partnership should begin with knowledge. While effective formulations are essential, it is the understanding behind those formulations that allows practitioners to achieve meaningful outcomes. Comprehensive education enables therapists to identify underlying skin concerns, understand the function of the skin barrier and confidently prescribe solutions tailored to the individual, rather than simply treating surface-level symptoms. This is where a true skincare partner stands apart. By investing in practitioner education, clinics gain the tools to assess skin more effectively, communicate with confidence and guide clients through a personalised journey towards healthier skin.

Why Barrier Health Matters Healthy skin begins with a functioning barrier. For decades, dermaviduals has championed the principles of authentic Corneotherapy. An approach focused on restoring, maintaining and protecting barrier integrity as the foundation of optimal skin health. Rather than relying on aggressive approaches or one-size-fits-all solutions, Corneotherapy takes a considered approach to supporting

the skin’s natural processes. By understanding the structure and function of the stratum corneum, practitioners can work with the skin to address concerns while preserving its essential protective mechanisms. This barrier-first philosophy has become increasingly relevant as clients seek treatments that deliver sustainable improvements rather than short-term fixes.

Science Over Trends The professional skincare landscape is constantly evolving, with new ingredients and trends emerging at a rapid pace. However, effective skin health is not built on following every new trend. It is built on understanding the science. A science-led skincare partner prioritises research, formulation integrity and proven principles over simply responding to market demand. Innovation should have purpose, with new developments introduced because they contribute meaningful advances in skin health. This commitment to scientific formulation ensures practitioners can confidently recommend products that align with the individual needs of their clients and support long-term skin function.

Personalised Skincare For Personalised Skin Every client’s skin is unique, which means their skincare approach should be too. Bespoke skincare allows practitioners to move beyond generic recommendations and create tailored solutions based on the individual’s skin condition, concerns and goals. By considering the skin as a whole, rather than focusing on isolated concerns, clinics can provide a more personalised and effective experience. This level of customisation not only supports improved outcomes but also strengthens the practitioner-client relationship, positioning the clinic as a trusted source of expertise and guidance.

Building A Partnership Beyond Product Supply The strongest skincare partnerships extend beyond what is delivered in a box. For clinics, the ideal partner is one that provides ongoing support, education and the confidence to grow. spaandclinic.com.au | 53

Beyond C E Ferulic

Finding your SkinCeuticals vitamin C match

M

ention SkinCeuticals and one product is almost guaranteed to come to mind: C E Ferulic. The iconic antioxidant serum has earned its place as one of professional skincare’s most recognised formulas, becoming synonymous with Vitamin C innovation. But while C E Ferulic may be the best-known product within the SkinCeuticals portfolio, it is not the only Vitamin C powerhouse available. SkinCeuticals has developed a trio of topical Vitamin C antioxidant serums — C E Ferulic, Phloretin CF and Silymarin CF — each formulated with different skin types and concerns in mind. And that distinction matters. Because while C E Ferulic remains a favourite for many patients, particularly those with normal-to-dry skin and concerns around visible signs of ageing, it is not necessarily the right formula for every complexion. The key is personalisation. “While C E Ferulic remains our gold standard for normal to dry skin, Phloretin CF and Silymarin CF allow practitioners to tailor antioxidants for more complex skin types. Phloretin CF combines L-ascorbic acid with phloretin and ferulic acid to target stubborn hyperpigmentation, photoageing, and uneven skin tone. Meanwhile, Silymarin CF is specifically engineered for oily and blemish-prone skin, uniquely pairing Vitamin C with silymarin and salicylic acid to neutralise free radicals, prevent sebum oxidation, and minimise blemishes. For Australian aesthetic professionals, prescribing these specialised antioxidants bridges the gap between clinical treatments and daily home care, ensuring optimal skin health and targeted efficacy for every patient.” – Dr Tania Romano, Head of Medical and Education for SkinCeuticals & skinbetter science Dr Tania Romano SkinCeuticals’ approach to antioxidant science is built around decades of research, including the work of founder Dr Sheldon Pinnell, whose research established the parameters required for an effective Vitamin C serum. These include the use of pure L-ascorbic acid at an optimal concentration and pH range to support stability, absorption and efficacy. Each of SkinCeuticals’ Vitamin C formulations features L-ascorbic acid, but the supporting ingredients and formulation approach are tailored to address specific skin needs. For normal-to-dry skin types and those concerned with visible signs of ageing, C E Ferulic remains the benchmark. Combining 15 per cent L-ascorbic acid with Vitamin E and ferulic acid, the formula helps defend against environmental aggressors while improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness and visible signs of photoageing. For those seeking support with uneven skin tone and discolouration, Phloretin CF offers a targeted alternative. Designed for normal, combination and oily skin types, this lightweight formula combines Vitamin C with phloretin and ferulic acid to help protect 54 | SPA+CLINIC

against environmental stressors while improving the appearance of discolouration. Then there’s Silymarin CF, developed specifically for oily and blemish-prone skin. Alongside Vitamin C and ferulic acid, the formula contains silymarin and salicylic acid to help minimise oil oxidation, refine skin texture and support clearer-looking skin. At its core, Vitamin C works by helping to neutralise free radicals, the unstable molecules generated by environmental factors such as UV exposure, pollution and lifestyle stressors that can contribute to premature visible ageing. When paired with complementary antioxidants, these formulations provide targeted protection while supporting overall skin health. The SkinCeuticals Vitamin C trio is a reminder that even within one of skincare’s most celebrated ingredients, there is no one-sizefits-all solution. C E Ferulic may have achieved icon status, but the best antioxidant serum is ultimately the one selected for the individual skin in front of you. For practitioners, that means looking beyond product recognition and focusing on skin assessment, patient concerns and long-term skin goals — ensuring every antioxidant recommendation is as considered as the skin journey it supports. Bridge the Gap Between In-Clinic and At-Home LED C

lients are increasingly investing in their skin between appointments. For clinics, this creates an opportunity to extend the treatment journey beyond the clinic while creating an additional retail revenue stream. Dr D’Lyte was developed to bridge the gap between professional in-clinic LED and at-home LED - not to replace professional treatments, but to complement them. It allows clients to continue their LED routine between appointments while supporting the professional treatments and skincare recommended by their clinic.

Wavelengths: Know What Light You’re Delivering Wavelengths are measured in nanometres (nm) and determine the type of light delivered. Don’t simply compare how many ‘colours” a mask offers - look for clearly disclosed wavelengths. Dr D’Lyte features seven carefully selected light modes incorporating Red (630nm), Blue (415nm), Green (520nm), White (630nm + 520nm + 415nm) Near Infrared (830nm) and Deep Near Infrared (1070nm) wavelengths.

Irradiance: Understand the Power Irradiance (mW/cm²) measures the amount of light energy delivered to the skin and is an important specification when comparing devices. Dr D’Lyte delivers up to 125 mW/cm², compared with many competing at-home LED masks offering approximately 20-55 mW/cm². Rather than relying on terms such as ‘high powered’’, ask for the actual irradiance.

LED Density & Light Distribution: Numbers Aren’t Everything The number, size, density and positioning of LEDs influence how light is distributed across the face. Dr D’Lyte incorporates 264 extra-large, high-density LEDs, strategically positioned to provide comprehensive facial coverage.

A Brand Clinics Can Trust With many white-label LED masks entering the consumer market, knowing who is behind the device matters.

Dr D’Lyte was pioneered by a team of doctors and cosmetic nurses with experience in aesthetic medicine. It has been developed with both the practitioner and client journey in mind, giving clinics a premium at-home LED device they can confidently recommend alongside their professional treatments and skincare.

Test Client Demand Before You Commit Introducing a new retail product shouldn’t mean committing to large quantities of stock. Dr D’Lyte provides clinics with advertising and marketing materials to help generate interest before ordering, allowing you to promote the device to your client database, take pre-orders or deposits and gauge demand before investing in stock. With no minimum order requirements, clinics can start small, order according to demand and grow their Dr D’Lyte retail offering with confidence. Australian-designed and owned. Regeneration Is More Than Collagen And Elastin Why Restoring Skin Architecture Is The New Standard In Rejuvenation

Dr Gina Messiha, founder of Ocean Cosmetics Perth

F

or years, aesthetic rejuvenation has spoken one language: collagen and elastin. Devices, injectables and skincare alike have been designed, and marketed, around the promise of stimulating these two structural proteins. But the conversation in clinics is changing. Patients are no longer chasing correction alone; they want skin that is healthier, more resilient and better functioning for the long term, and clinicians are rethinking what true regeneration actually requires. Dr Gina Messiha, founder of Ocean Cosmetics Perth, is one of them. Her evolving philosophy on skin health recently led her to introduce EMFUSION, BTL’s latest innovation, into the clinic. A noninvasive facial device, EMFUSION uses gentle dynamiq technology to exfoliate, boost circulation and drive active ingredients deeper into the skin, with a focus on restoring the skin barrier and supporting long-term 56 | SPA+CLINIC

skin health rather than chasing surface-level correction. We sat down with Dr Gina to find out why the industry is looking beyond collagen stimulation, and how supporting the skin’s architecture can optimise outcomes across the entire treatment journey.

For many years, regenerative aesthetics has focused on collagen and elastin stimulation. Why do you believe the industry is now looking beyond these markers and placing greater emphasis on overall skin health and architecture? Collagen and elastin remain important, but we now understand that true skin regeneration is more complex than simply stimulating these two markers. Healthy skin relies on a well-functioning architecture. That includes

“Patients are increasingly seeking natural-looking, long-term improvements in skin quality” the extracellular matrix, hydration levels, barrier integrity, cellular communication, vascular support and the skin’s ability to repair and respond to stress. Collagen and elastin are important, but they are only part of the bigger picture. This is particularly relevant in peri- and post-menopausal women, who make up a high proportion of my cohort. Hormonal changes can affect collagen, hydration, sensitivity, repair capacity and barrier function, so supporting overall skin health becomes essential. Patients are increasingly seeking natural-looking, long-term improvements in skin quality, which is why regenerative aesthetics is moving beyond isolated collagen stimulation and towards a more holistic view of skin health.

What role does skin barrier health play in the success of aesthetic treatments, and why has it become such an important focus in modern skin rejuvenation? The skin barrier is fundamental to healthy, resilient skin. When it is functioning well, the skin retains hydration more effectively, tolerates treatments better and recovers more predictably. In peri- and post-menopausal women, barrier function is often compromised due to hormonal changes. The skin can become drier, more sensitive, more reactive and slower to repair, which can influence both treatment comfort and outcomes. That is why barrier health has become such an important focus. It is not just about stimulating regeneration; it is about creating the right environment for the skin to heal, remodel and maintain results over time.

You recently introduced EMFUSION into your clinic. What attracted you to this technology, and how does it complement the regenerative treatments and devices already available at Ocean Cosmetics? What attracted me to EMFUSION was its focus on supporting skin health, particularly barrier function and overall skin quality. This is highly relevant to my patient cohort, especially peri- and post-menopausal women, whose skin can become drier, more reactive and less resilient. EMFUSION complements our existing treatments by helping optimise the skin environment, rather than only targeting visible correction. For me, it supports a more complete approach to rejuvenation: improving skin quality, recovery and resilience, while aligning with the future of aesthetics, which is natural-looking results built on healthier skin.

Where rejuvenation is heading For Dr Gina, the future of regenerative aesthetics won’t be defined by any single marker, but by how well the industry supports the skin as a whole. Collagen and elastin will always matter, yet it’s the architecture around them, from barrier to hydration to repair capacity, that determines whether results endure. As patients continue to prioritise skin health over quick correction, technologies like EMFUSION point to where rejuvenation is heading: creating the conditions for skin to function, heal and age well, and letting natural-looking results follow. Cooling, Reimagined

The Australian-first foilgel mask raising the bar for post-treatment recovery

E

very practitioner knows the moment. The treatment ends, the patient sits up, and the skin tells the story. Hot, flushed and working hard to recover. Elevated skin surface temperature after needling, energybased devices and peels is one of the most overlooked drivers of erythema, transepidermal water loss and delayed recovery, yet very few in-clinic aftercare products are actually built to address it. BRUCKE’s Keep Cooling Foilgel Lifting Mask was created to change that and it has just landed in Australia. As the first mask on the market built entirely around A.C.C. (Advanced Cooling Composition), a 100 per cent plant-derived active complex protected by five patents, the Foilgel is less a sheet mask than a new category in skin recovery.

The Science A.C.C.’s anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-apoptotic activity is documented in two indexed, peer-reviewed studies, three hospitalbased clinical trials and more than 30 human application and efficacy tests. The complex is formulated entirely from four traditional plant extracts, peony, Amur cork tree bark, Baikal skullcap root and corn mint, with no animal-derived or synthetic cooling agents. The mask itself is vegan, ECOCERT COSMOS certified and classed as non-irritant by the Korea Dermatology Research Institute, making it safe for the compromised, post-procedure skin it was designed for. Independent thermographic testing measured skin surface cooling continuing for at least 10 minutes after the mask comes off - cooling the skin by up to 3.9 degrees. No refrigeration is required, so it is ready the moment a patient steps out of treatment.

The Natural Partner For Skin Needling For Kelly Beasy, NP and owner of KB Aesthetix (pictured above), 58 | SPA+CLINIC

the mask has become a fixture of aftercare, applied the moment she finishes skin needling with KLÁRDIE R+. “Patient aftercare is very important to me. I use the BRUCKE Foilgel Mask immediately after treatment and then send one home with my patients so that recovery continues outside the clinic. The fact that it cools the skin so significantly makes it so much more than just another sheet mask. Patient comfort is very important and this mask significantly improves post treatment recovery.” Kelly’s serum of choice for needling is part of the KLÁRDIE range, distributed in Australia by Pinkit Medical. KLÁRDIE combines some of the industry’s most sought after ingredients in one treatment. A hero ingredient in R+ is 1% tranexamic acid, highly regarded for targeting pigmentation and uneven tone, yet still relatively uncommon in professional needling formulations. It is complemented by 2% niacinamide, salmon derived PDRN, vitamin C, glutathione, hyaluronic acid, alongside peptides, amino acids and growth factors to support repair, hydration and rejuvenation. Together, these targeted actives help brighten uneven skin and restore radiance. It is expected that following needling, skin will be warm and flushed, making the cooling Foilgel Mask a ideal next clinical step to calm, comfort and complete the treatment.

Beyond The Treatment Room The Foilgel’s usefulness does not end at aftercare. Practitioners are reaching for it post-sauna, when heat-stressed skin needs rapid calming, as a pre-event treatment to refresh and prime the skin before makeup, and as a soothing go-to for reactive, rosacea-prone skins that flush at the slightest provocation. Retailed to patients, it also becomes a source of recurring revenue between visits. To learn more or enquire about stocking the range in your clinic, visit pinkit.com.au.

O COSMEDICS Launches Clinical Care Therapeutic skincare bringing compromised skin into the treatment room

O

COSMEDICS has announced the launch of Clinical Care, a range of nine face and body products designed to support clients with compromised skin including mild eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Skin conditions that have, until now, sat just outside the professional treatment conversation. Available exclusively through professional skin clinics, the range supports the skin barrier by soothing inflammation, relieving dryness and promoting skin recovery. Spanning Cleanse, Repair and Relief, the collection includes the Clinical Soothing Foaming Cleanser, Clinical Barrier Repair Cream, Clinical Healing & Soothing Serum and Clinical Intensive Relief Oil, alongside an ingestible, Advanced EFAs. Every formulation is dermatologically tested, developed to meet strict regulatory requirements and designed

to sit within a broader management plan rather than replace it. For clinics, the opportunity is significant. With an estimated 2.8 million Australians living with eczema alone, these clients are already walking through clinic doors, often seeking more than cosmetic improvement. Clinical Care gives therapists the tools and language to support skins that may have previously felt outside their scope, moving beyond product recommendation and into guided, ongoing support between appointments and through flare-ups. “O COSMEDICS has recognised the need for skin support since inception we have transformed the most sensitive and compromised skins for 15 years,” says Founder and CEO Maria Enna-Cocciolone. “Globally we are seeing an increase in these skin conditions… that until now have been underserved.”

Australian Aesthetic Symposium 2026 Western Australia’s aesthetic community came together in force as the second annual Australian Aesthetic Symposium (AAS) 2026 welcomed practitioners, industry leaders and exhibitors to the Pan Pacific Perth for two days of education, innovation and connection. Designed to bring high-quality aesthetics education closer to local clinicians, the symposium marked an important milestone for the WA industry while attracting delegates from across Australia. From the outset, the atmosphere felt distinctly different from larger interstate conferences. There was an openness and warmth throughout the weekend, with practitioners eager to share ideas, support one another and engage in meaningful discussion around the future of the industry. The scientific program featured more than 30 national and international speakers, covering topics including advanced injecting techniques, ultrasound, regenerative aesthetics, patient psychology, menopause, ethics, compliance and business growth. Beyond the lecture theatre, the event fostered a strong sense of community. Networking opportunities throughout the symposium allowed practitioners to reconnect with colleagues, build new professional relationships and exchange ideas in an open, collaborative environment. A lively social program, including welcome drinks and an industry dinner, further

The Next Generation Of Microneedling Has Arrived A

s demand for minimally invasive treatments continues to grow, microneedling remains one of the most sought-after professional services for improving skin texture, tone and visible signs of ageing. Now, advancements in device technology are helping practitioners deliver even greater precision, consistency and confidence in treatment outcomes. Enter the Dermalogica PRO Pen Microneedling System - a next-generation professional device designed to elevate the microneedling experience for both practitioners and clients. Built with enhanced engineering, intuitive controls and advanced cartridge technology, the PRO Pen represents a new chapter in professional skin rejuvenation.

Why Microneedling Continues To Lead The Way Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels in the skin, stimulating the skin’s natural repair response and supporting the skin renewal process. This helps improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven texture, acne scarring and overall skin quality. A cornerstone of professional skin rejuvenation, microneedling is valued for its versatility and suitability across a wide range of skin concerns and skin tones. As collagen and elastin production naturally decline with age, microneedling helps support firmer, smoother and more resilient-looking skin, making it a highly customisable treatment that can be tailored to individual client needs and goals.

Designed For Precision And Performance The new and enhanced PRO Pen has been engineered with practitioner usability in mind. A larger digital display improves visibility during treatment, while an ergonomic grip and adjustable depth control ring allow for greater precision across different treatment areas. The Power Of Exosome-Enhanced Rejuvenation While microneedling is well established as a collagen-induction treatment, emerging technologies are creating new opportunities to further support skin renewal and recovery. One of the most exciting developments is the use of exosomes - cellular messengers that help facilitate communication between skin cells and support the skin’s natural regeneration processes. Dermalogica’s advanced Exosome Regeneration System combines the precision of the PRO Pen with the regenerative benefits of Exo Booster and Phyto Nature e2. Found exclusively in Exo Booster, vegan Lactobacillusderived exosomes work in synergy with Pro-Resolution Technology to help optimise intercellular communication, supporting skin recovery, resilience and visible rejuvenation. When paired with microneedling, Exo Booster is designed to complement the skin’s natural renewal response and support posttreatment recovery. The treatment experience can then be extended beyond the treatment room with Phyto Nature e2 regenerative exosome leave-on, helping to visibly firm, smooth and revitalise the skin while supporting long-term skin health. Together, microneedling, Exo Booster and Phyto Nature e2 create a comprehensive professional treatment system designed to support visible rejuvenation, enhance recovery and elevate treatment outcomes. Looking Ahead As the professional skin treatment landscape continues to evolve, practitioners are increasingly seeking treatment systems that combine proven technologies with innovative ingredients to deliver enhanced client experiences. The integration of microneedling and exosome technology represents an exciting advancement in this category, offering new opportunities to support visible skin rejuvenation and recovery. Combining innovation, precision and professional-grade performance, the Dermalogica PRO Pen and Exosome Renewal System represent the next evolution of professional skin rejuvenation, empowering practitioners to deliver customised treatments while supporting healthier, more resilient-looking skin. The PRO Pen Microneedling System is a microneedling device and accessories intended to be used as a treatment to improve the appearance of facial acne scars in adults aged 22 years and older. A New Chapter In Post-Weight Loss Surgery DR DONA shares the latest advancement – The Open Book Abdominoplasty

12 months post-operative.

A

ustralia is experiencing a significant shift in the way obesity is managed. With the increasing use of weight-loss medications alongside bariatric surgery, improved nutrition and exercise, more people than ever are achieving substantial weight loss. However, while reaching a healthier weight represents an important milestone, many patients face another challenge: significant excess skin and stretched tissue that do not retract after major weight loss. Sydney-based Dr Eddy Dona is a Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a focus on Body Contouring Surgery; procedures aimed at treating such patients. He has dedicated nearly two decades to refining his skills in this area, which has led him to develop the Open Book Tummy Tuck™ (Abdominoplasty), a new surgical technique designed for selected patients with complex abdominal and torso skin laxity following massive weight loss. Traditional abdominoplasty procedures, including standard, extended and fleur-de-lis techniques, remain excellent operations when applied to the appropriate patient. However, Dr Dona found many individuals presenting with complex patterns of multidirectional skin excess that traditional surgical approaches could not adequately address. The Open Book Tummy Tuck™ was developed to deliver optimal body-contouring outcomes for these patients. 66 | SPA+CLINIC

“Many patients have excess tissue affecting not only the lower abdomen, but also the upper abdomen, waist and surrounding torso. Every patient presents differently, so surgical planning needs to be highly individualised.” “Following major weight loss, the changes to the body are often far more extensive than people expect,” explains Dr Dona. “Many patients have excess tissue affecting not only the lower abdomen, but also the upper abdomen, waist and surrounding torso. Every patient presents differently, so surgical planning needs to be highly individualised.” Dr Dona has recently published his technique in the peer-reviewed JPRAS Open, the official journal of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, making the procedure available to the international plastic surgery community. For Dr Dona, developing the procedure was not about creating something new for its own sake, but about addressing a recurring clinical challenge. “As surgeons, we’re constantly learning from the patients we treat,” he says. “When conventional techniques don’t fully address a particular anatomical problem, it creates an opportunity to refine our approach and develop additional options for carefully selected patients.” The published article provides a detailed step-by-step description of the procedure, allowing other plastic surgeons to evaluate and apply the technique where appropriate. It also reports the outcomes of over 50 consecutive patients who underwent the Open Book Tummy Tuck™ between 2021 and 2024. On average, patients had lost more than 43 kilograms before surgery, reflecting the growing number of

people seeking reconstructive body contouring surgery following significant weight loss. Importantly, Dr Dona believes the publication represents more than simply introducing a new surgical technique. “Publishing research allows surgeons to openly share knowledge, evaluate outcomes and contribute to the ongoing evolution of patient care,” he says. “Medicine advances through collaboration, peer review and the willingness to improve the care we provide continually.” As more Australians achieve substantial weight loss, demand for reconstructive body contouring surgery is expected to continue to grow. Research into techniques that address the unique anatomical changes associated with massive weight loss will become increasingly important as surgeons continue to refine treatment options for this patient group. The publication of the Open Book Tummy Tuck™ adds another option to the evolving field of reconstructive body contouring and highlights Australia’s contribution to the international plastic surgery community. Cost-effective Ways Practitioners Can Reduce Risk And Improve Patient Safety Outcomes

and staff break areas are often missed during routine cleaning, all of which can contribute significantly to cross-contamination if not disinfected regularly. Another common issue is inconsistent cleaning between patient appointments. In busy clinics, there can be pressure to prepare treatment rooms quickly, resulting in rushed or incomplete disinfection practices. Items such as treatment chairs, laser machine handles, reusable goggles and storage drawers may not always receive the level of attention required. Poor chemical usage and incorrect dwell times are also frequent concerns. Some facilities use unsuitable products or fail to allow disinfectants enough contact time to effectively eliminate bacteria and viruses. In addition, linen handling and waste management practices are often underestimated despite their importance in infection prevention. Staff-only areas can also become overlooked hygiene risks. Kitchens, lockers and shared office spaces may not follow the same cleaning standards as treatment areas, creating hidden contamination points. Regular audits, staff refresher training and clear cleaning accountability

Improving hygiene standards and reducing infection risks does not always require major financial investment. In many cases, simple and consistent operational practices can significantly improve patient safety outcomes within spa and clinical environments. One of the most cost-effective measures is implementing clear cleaning schedules and accountability systems. Daily checklists, documented cleaning procedures and regular inspections help ensure standards are consistently maintained without unnecessary overspending. Staff training is equally important – ensuring employees are educated on hand hygiene, cross-contamination prevention and correct disinfectant usage can greatly reduce otherwise avoidable risks. Focusing on high-touch areas is another practical strategy. Often, disinfecting treatment beds, door handles, EFTPOS machines, taps and shared equipment throughout the day can minimise the spread of bacteria and viruses. Clinics should also ensure appropriate products are being used for healthcare environments, as using ineffective or incorrect chemicals may create greater risks over time. Preventative maintenance and organisation also contribute to safer environments. Clutter-free treatment rooms are easier to clean effectively, while properly maintained equipment reduces contamination risks and improves operational efficiency. Working with professional cleaning teams helps close compliance and regulatory gaps by bringing specialised knowledge, structured quality assurance processes, and infection-control expertise. This enables clinics to maintain high standards while staying operationally efficient and cost-effective. Ultimately, maintaining a safe and hygienic environment protects patients, staff and the long-term reputation of the business. Walk This Way Managing Editor STEPHANIE MCLEAN experiences a new level of luxury wellness with Èliva Spa at InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach

I

’ve often thought the most memorable spa experiences are the ones that understand wellness is not just about relaxation; it’s about how you feel when you leave. Lighter. More energised. More connected to your body. The new Èliva Spa at InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach delivers exactly that. By combining movement, recovery, thermal therapies and a treatment that works well beyond the surface this new spa is setting the bar high. Today I’m lucky enough to experience the Signature Walk in Nature Èliva treatment. This is not your traditional “float away and fall asleep” 70 | SPA+CLINIC

body treatment. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. The Signature Walk in Nature treatment is beautifully intentional, using a combination of skilled hands and naturally cleansing eucalyptus wood rollers to target tension, encourage release and support the body’s natural rhythm. And while I love a relaxing spa treatment as much as anyone, I also appreciate a treatment that makes a noticeable difference and I can say without a doubt this one isn’t for the faint-hearted. The pressure is firm, the technique is purposeful, and there are definitely moments where you need to breathe through the intensity.

“The Signature Walk in Nature treatment is beautifully intentional, using a combination of skilled hands and naturally cleansing eucalyptus wood rollers to target tension, encourage release and support the body’s natural rhythm.”

The journey begins before you even enter the treatment room. Guests are encouraged to start with a session in the gym to get circulation flowing and prepare the body for recovery. It felt like a refreshing approach, moving away from the idea that wellness always begins with stillness. After working up an appetite, lunch at Shutters, the hotel’s restaurant, was the perfect pause before continuing the experience. The menu felt fresh and considered, with the beetroot carpaccio being a standout. Vibrant, beautifully presented and packed with flavour, it was the kind of dish that felt as good for the body as it looked on the plate. Next came the Recovery Lounge, a space designed around personalised restoration. Guests can choose from four signature spaandclinic.com.au | 71

protocols: Bespoke, Rest & Recover and Invigorate. Each combines a selection of recovery technologies, including an LED mask, PEMF mat, compression boots, vibroacoustic therapy and a weighted blanket. The thermal spa was another highlight, offering a clever circuit of infrared sauna, steam room, salt sauna, cold plunge and mineral bath. The salt sauna was, without question, my favourite. The walls of glowing salt bricks create a beautiful atmosphere, but it was the sensory experience that stood out most. The air has that distinctive mineral taste associated with salt therapy, creating the feeling of stepping into a completely different environment. Then came the treatment itself. The Signature Walk in Nature treatment embraces the connection between the body and the Australian landscape, using eucalyptus wood rollers to glide along the body, helping to release muscular tension and encourage a feeling of deep relaxation. The rollers add a unique sensory element. Rhythmic and completely different from anything I had experienced before. For the treatment, IPSUM’s Spa Body Balm and Revival Balm are blended together, creating the perfect combination of nourishment, glide and aromatherapy. The rich texture allows for the deeper massage techniques, while the uplifting botanical scent enhances the feeling of being completely immersed in nature. By the end of the treatment, I could feel the difference. My shoulders felt softer, my back less stiff and my body felt like it had been reset. What makes this experience so special is the way every element has been thoughtfully connected. The movement, the nourishment, the recovery technologies, the thermal therapies and the treatment itself all work together to create something much more holistic than a traditional single treatment spa visit. The Signature Walk in Nature is not about escaping your body, it’s about reconnecting with it. It’s restorative, sensory and a little challenging in the best possible way. For anyone looking for a wellness experience that goes beyond pampering and delivers a genuine sense of renewal, this is one journey worth taking.

Men, Unguarded As aesthetics and wellness shift, men are stepping into clinics and finally asking for help. We sat down with SHIREE WALKER to talk about what she’s seeing inside her practice.

W

hen Shiree Walker opened Glow Aesthetics Perth in 2021, the focus was firmly on aesthetics and advanced skin. But it was the conversations happening in the treatment chair, rather than the treatments themselves, that would redirect her business. Again and again, women confided hormonal symptoms, perimenopause and menopause concerns that had gone unheard elsewhere. Drawing on her background as a Urogynaecology Nurse Practitioner, Walker answered the need directly, opening a dedicated women’s health arm in 2024 called Yoni Health Clinic — named for the Sanskrit word for womb. Then something unexpected happened. As word spread about the results women were achieving, their husbands and partners began asking whether they could book in too. For Walker, it was a turning point. “I realised the name Yoni no longer reflected who we were,” she says. “I wanted everyone to feel welcome.” The clinic was rebranded as Glow Aesthetics & Wellness Co. — bringing aesthetics, skin and wellness together under one inclusive roof. So what’s driving men’s growing interest in the aesthetic space? According to Walker, they are more open to wellness and aesthetic treatments than ever before. “After the pandemic there was a big shift in how men look at their health,” she says. The old “she’ll be right, mate” mentality is giving way to something far more proactive. Men taking a deeper interest in their overall wellbeing, investing in prevention, longevity and optimising their health from the inside out, and paying closer attention to their appearance in the process. In Western Australia, the trend is especially pronounced. Home to Australia’s largest FIFO workforce, where long shifts and harsh

conditions take a visible toll, the drive to maintain both health and appearance runs particularly strong. It is a change Walker has watched unfold first-hand. The conversations, she says, are more open and flowing than they were even five years ago, a shift she credits in part to wearables that now put heart rate, sleep and recovery data in every pocket. And when men do arrive, they arrive refreshingly direct. “Male patients are more matter of fact when it comes to treatment planning, which we love,” Walker says; they want the science, the anatomy and a clear plan. Aesthetically, demand leans subtle with anti-wrinkle consultations, collagen stimulators, under-eye rejuvenation, exosome hair restoration and body treatments for concerns like “bacne.” On the wellness side, it is gut health, hormones and even brain training to regulate the nervous system. For all that growth, Walker believes the industry still treats men as an afterthought in a female-centric market, defaulting to a “onesize-fits-all approach” that ignores male facial anatomy and wrapping it in décor that signals men don’t belong. Her own clinic is a deliberate counterpoint: “classic, classy and neutral,” welcoming from the website to the front door. Looking ahead, she sees continued progress in normalising men’s engagement with aesthetics and preventative health. “By making a lot of these topics less taboo and more openly discussed, we will continue to shift conversations between men and their family, friends, and their health care provider,” she says. “I hope this will make men’s health options more accessible, which will in turn make preventative health achievable.” WRITTEN BY MANAGING EDITOR, STEPHANIE MCLEAN

The Studio With Soul BEC DOUROS signed up 400 members before Wild Soul Wellness Williamstown even opened!

lenty of wellness spaces promise sanctuary. Soft lighting, a diffuser working overtime, a font that whispers ‘breathe’. Why Wild Soul

When Bec decided to open her own wellness space, she was looking for a concept that aligned with her values while offering the structure she felt was missing from the wellness landscape. She created a new logo, designed the brand’s custom activewear for staff, and reimagined every touchpoint of the guest experience, right down to the tea served post-session. She also introduced thoughtful functional details throughout the studio, including mini fridges stocked with scented cold towels for use across the hot mat studio, sauna and red light therapy rooms — a simple yet much-loved ritual for cooling, refreshing and rebalancing after class. Alongside this are affirmation cards placed at the end of mat Pilates sessions, small but meaningful gestures that reinforce the sense that every element of the experience has been designed with wellbeing in mind. The recovery zone houses Normatec compression boots, red light therapy and contrast therapy. Altogether, it creates a sanctuary that feels particularly welcoming for women.

The 400-member Head Start Here’s the number that should make every business owner pay attention: 400 members signed up before the doors opened. Bec attributes it to something radically simple. She contacted each and every member personally to connect before day one, and she’s in the studio daily to greet guests by name. She’s hired extra front-of-house staff so no one slips through unwelcomed, and a dedicated team member hosts the recovery zone full time. And it’s working. What struck me most was watching members book a class, then stay for recovery. They’re not ticking a workout off a list; they’re invested in genuine self care — mind, body and soul. That’s the thing about soul. You can’t buy it, and you can’t fit-out your way to it. It walks through the door every morning, greets you by name, and remembers why it built the place at all.

Skin In Motion™ Ritual event held at EQ Wellbeing

Inside Skintrition’s ™ Skin In Motion Ritual Where lymphatic health, movement and mindful touch meet

T

here is something quite powerful about being given permission to slow down, especially in a world where we are constantly connected and two hours without checking a phone can feel almost unfamiliar. Yet somewhere between the first deep breath, the warmth of the steam room and the gentle rhythm of movement, attention shifts away from what is happening around us and towards what is happening within. This was the intention behind an intimate evening hosted by Stephanie and Sandra Cannalonga, the mother-daughter duo. Guests were welcomed to EQ Wellbeing to experience Skin in Motion™, Skintrition’s signature lymphatic ritual designed to bring together skin health, nervous system regulation and mindful movement. Having spent more than 43 years collectively working with skin, wellness and traditional healing practices, Stephanie and Sandra have long understood that true skin transformation extends beyond the surface. Skin is connected to everything from stress and circulation to breath, movement and the way we hold tension in our bodies.

treatment, Skin in Motion™ felt like a lesson in awareness. Guests were encouraged to notice where tension was held, how their breath changed and how intentional movements could create a sense of release throughout the face and body. Inside EQ Wellbeing’s steam room, the ritual became even more immersive. Guided by Stephanie, guests experienced Skintrition’s sculpting sequence using the Goddess Oil by GUIYA, alongside Skintrition’s soon-to-be-released sculpting tool, designed to support the practice beyond the treatment space. What stood out most was the simplicity of the experience. In an industry often driven by innovation, technology and visible results, Skin in Motion™ offered a reminder that meaningful wellbeing rituals are often found in the moments we create for ourselves consistently. As the evening continued over warm drinks and conversation, guests reflected on the feeling that remained afterwards. Guests left with a carefully curated collection to continue the ritual at home, including a luxury facial mask from KNESKO, a guided meditation card, Skintrition’s ritual card and a selection of wellness gifts designed to encourage ongoing moments of restoration. While created as a signature Skintrition ritual, Skin in Motion™ has been designed to adapt across luxury spas, wellness spaces and immersive experiences. More than simply a treatment, it is an educational approach that provides practical techniques to support lymphatic health, nervous system regulation and intentional self-care. For Stephanie and Sandra, Skin in Motion™ represents the evolution of Skintrition’s philosophy that caring for your skin is not separate from caring for yourself. It is an approach that recognises the relationship between skin, body and mind, creating rituals that support wellbeing long after the treatment ends. At The Heart Of Dr. Spiller A German journey of science, skin and wellness

H

“Some educational trips teach you about products. Others change the way you think about skin, science and the people behind a brand. My recent journey to Austria and Germany with Omniderm and Dr. Spiller was unquestionably the latter.” – Kym Cowper, Integrated Partnerships Director, SPA+CLINIC

osted by Omniderm, the exclusive Australian distributor of Dr. Spiller, I joined an inspiring group of Australian nurses and skin therapists for an unforgettable journey into the heart of one of Germany’s most respected professional skincare brands. Our adventure began at the beautiful Waldhof Fuschlsee Resort, nestled on the shores of Lake Fuschl, just 20 kilometres from the historic city of Salzburg. Surrounded by crystal-clear lakes, towering mountains and charming villages, every view looked like a postcard. Our hosts, Paul and Sue from Omniderm, shared that Austrians take enormous pride in their homes, gardens and public spaces and it showed. Everywhere we looked was immaculate, beautifully maintained and deeply connected to nature. After settling into our rooms, complete with balconies overlooking the lake, we boarded a boat across Lake Fuschl, the perfect opportunity to meet our fellow travellers before the educational program commenced. Among the Australian group was Sam Appel from The Skin Bar, who shared how she incorporates Dr. Spiller into her signature skin needling treatments, offering a valuable insight into the brand’s versatility in clinical practice. 80 | SPA+CLINIC

That evening we enjoyed an authentic Austrian dinner. Naturally, I couldn’t go past the famous Wiener Schnitzel before finishing with Salzburger Nockerl, Salzburg’s iconic soufflé dessert, whose delicate peaks represent the surrounding snowcapped mountains.

Behind The Brand

The following morning, we crossed into Germany to visit the Dr. Spiller manufacturing facility. A rare opportunity to see the science behind the brand firsthand. Dressed in full medical-grade protective clothing, with no phones permitted inside, we toured the production facility, watching formulations move from raw ingredients through to finished products using sophisticated robotic technology. Founded in 1960 by Dr. Horst Spiller, the company challenged conventional skincare by pioneering water-in-oil emulsions that better mimic the skin’s natural barrier. More than six decades later, that philosophy remains at the heart of every formulation. The facility houses more than 830 carefully selected raw ingredients, each chosen to support skin health rather than simply create cosmetic appeal. Innovation has always been central to Dr. Spiller. From launching one of the industry’s first preservative-free creams in the 1960s to

laughter, a little FIFA on television and another Austrian favourite, Kaiserschmarrn—a delicious shredded pancake served with fruit compote— it was the perfect way to end another remarkable day.

Education And Innovation

More Than Skincare

Back in Austria, our education continued with the Dr. Spiller clinical team as we explored the brand’s latest innovations, including developments in exosome technology. The sessions reinforced the company’s long-standing philosophy of supporting the skin barrier while equipping practitioners with solutions for acne, sensitivity, compromised skin, scarring and age management.

It was the people who made the greatest impression. Equally inspiring were Paul and Sue, who have represented Dr. Spiller in Australia through Omniderm for more than 20 years. Their commitment extends far beyond distribution. Through education, mentoring and genuine partnerships, they have built a thriving network of Australian clinics dedicated to delivering exceptional patient outcomes. Watching Australian nurses and therapists share ideas, clinical experiences and a passion for lifelong learning was a reminder that great skincare isn’t simply about products. It’s about education, community and continually striving to improve patient care. As I reflected on the journey home, I realised the experience was about far more than visiting Austria and Germany. It offered a rare insight into the heritage, science and philosophy behind Dr. Spiller, while highlighting the education and community that continue to earn the brand the trust of practitioners worldwide.

Wellness, The Austrian Way One of my favourite experiences was visiting the Waldhof Wellness Centre, where Dr. Spiller is the professional skincare brand used throughout the spa. Featuring cryotherapy, traditional saunas, hot and cold regenerative pools and tranquil treatment spaces overlooking the lake, it perfectly reflected Austria’s philosophy that wellness isn’t a luxury, it’s simply part of everyday life. After a busy day of learning, we returned to the hotel for a swim in the lake before gathering around the fireplace. Between plenty of

WELLNESS & CULTURE

The Casualisation Of Wellness Are we weakening the very culture we are trying to sell?

T

he recent headlines around Australia’s hiring slowdown have focused on a small dip in employment numbers, but the longer view is more sobering. Indeed’s Hiring Lab projects that unemployment could climb to almost 8 per cent by 2040, as shrinking workforces, AI and labour reallocation reshape the job market. Within wellness, spa and beauty though, the bigger story is not whether businesses are hiring. It is how they are hiring. Contractorstyle structures, casual employment and freelance models are all on the rise as operators work to stay financially agile through uncertain economic times. We sat down with spa consultant Marie Adele, founder of TheSpaside, to unpack what the shift really means for culture, consistency Marie Adele and the guest experience.

On paper, leaner teams look like smart business. Where does the model start to cost you? Operationally it makes complete sense. Leaner teams create flexibility, reduce long-term staffing commitments and help protect cash flow when consumer spending becomes unpredictable. But underneath the spreadsheets and rostering systems there is a deeper question. What happens to brand culture, guest connection and service consistency when teams no longer feel emotionally connected to the business itself?

You speak with therapists across the industry every week. What are they telling you? I am hearing it more and more from therapists and wellness professionals who have moved from permanent employment into contractor-style arrangements. Many speak about feeling disconnected from the brand they represent. They arrive, perform the treatment, then leave, without the same sense of belonging, loyalty or long-term investment in the business. The model may support short-term operational survival, but there is a growing question around what it costs businesses long term. It is a cost that rarely shows up on a spreadsheet, because wellness has always traded on something harder to measure: human connection.

82 | SPA+CLINIC

WELLNESS & CULTURE

What are guests really paying for? Why does that emotional connection matter commercially? Guests don’t return because of beautiful interiors, treatment menus or polished social media marketing. They return because of how a therapist made them feel. Someone remembered their name, understood their needs, created a sense of trust and consistency. That connection becomes much harder to sustain when workforces become increasingly fragmented.

Is the industry practising what it sells? In many ways we are sitting in a contradiction. We sell wellness externally while many teams internally are experiencing fatigue, instability and growing pressure to do more with less. Leaders are exhausted. Rosters are tighter. Retention remains difficult. And the emotional labour required across this industry is consistently underestimated.

Forecasts like Indeed’s point to a much tighter, more disrupted labour market by 2040. Does that worry you? It should focus us rather than frighten us. A projection like that is really a story about mismatch, where the skills businesses need and the people available to deliver them drift further apart. Our industry already feels that gap every time a role sits unfilled for months. The businesses that treat their people as a long-term asset rather than a line item will be the ones still holding great teams when talent becomes even scarcer.

Where does AI sit in all of this? AI is not the new kid on the block. It has existed in various forms for decades. What we are experiencing now is rapid acceleration.

It is here to stay, and like every major shift before it, businesses and professionals will need to adapt alongside it. For some, that creates fear. For others, opportunity.

What is your advice to professionals worried about being replaced? Stay close to your craft. Refine your skills. Keep evolving your emotional intelligence, leadership ability and client experience. The professionals who continue to grow will always remain valuable. Technology may improve efficiency, but it cannot replace intuition, empathy, accountability or genuine human care. AI won’t sit beside an anxious client, read body language during a consultation or rebuild trust after a poor guest experience. Perhaps that is the bigger conversation unfolding across wellness, hospitality and beauty. Not simply jobs, but the future value of being human in service-based industries.

Contractor models are not going anywhere. What should business owners keep front of mind? Flexibility will remain part of the future, and it should. For many professionals, freelance structures create freedom, autonomy and better work-life balance. But businesses must be careful not to become so operationally lean that they unintentionally weaken the very culture guests are paying to experience. In wellness, culture is not a soft business metric. It is the brand. Marie Adele leaves the industry with one question worth sitting with. Are we creating workplaces that genuinely embody wellness internally, or are we simply selling the idea of it externally? WRITTEN BY STEPHANIE MCLEAN, MANAGING EDITOR

EDUCATION

Beyond the Brow Pattern Inside the New Luxury Brows Academy Course

C

osmetic tattooing has evolved far beyond brow mapping and pattern replication. As client expectations rise and correction work becomes increasingly common, artists are being challenged to understand the deeper science behind healed results. From skin behaviour and pigment retention to implantation depth and long-term outcomes. Luxury Brows Academy was created in response to that evolution. Developed by Perth-based cosmetic tattoo artist Kristie, the program focuses on the technical knowledge and clinical thinking required to produce consistent, natural-looking results that heal predictably. Founder Kristie shares how her new education program is redefining cosmetic tattoo training with a focus on skin science, ethical treatment planning and real-world business strategy.

What inspired you to create Luxury Brows Academy?

superficially, leading to poor retention, or too deep, which can cause blurred or overly saturated results. Students also learn how practices such as excessive pre-numbing can affect implantation. Because every client’s skin behaves differently, artists must adapt their technique rather than follow a fixed pattern.

How does the hybrid course structure work?

Luxury Brows Academy founder Kristie Harrison.

Through my experience in the cosmetic tattoo industry, I noticed a clear gap between basic certification training and the knowledge required to consistently achieve refined, wellhealed results. Many courses focus heavily on pattern replication rather than understanding how pigment behaves in the skin. Certification alone does not create mastery. True expertise comes from understanding skin behaviour, pigment interaction and the healing process over time. Luxury Brows Academy was developed to bridge that gap. The program teaches artists how to predict pigment behaviour once implanted, rather than simply teaching brow shapes. In my clinic, Luxury Brows Perth, I often see correction cases where previous tattooing was performed without a proper understanding of implantation depth or skin behaviour.

Why is understanding skin behaviour and depth control so important? The visible brow pattern is only a small part of the final outcome. The true result is determined by how pigment interacts with the skin beneath the surface. Without proper depth control, pigment may be implanted too 84 | SPA+CLINIC

Traditional cosmetic tattoo courses are often condensed into just a few days, leaving artists with limited support once the training ends. Luxury Brows Academy takes a progressive approach. Students begin with an extensive online curriculum covering skin behaviour, pigment science, consultation protocols and treatment planning. They then complete structured latex practice before attending Luxury Brows Perth for their in-clinic practical assessment. The practical component is intentionally concise, with interstate students only needing to travel to Perth for two days.

Why is ethical treatment planning so important when it comes to correction work? Correction work is one of the most technically challenging areas of cosmetic tattooing. Many artists feel pressure to rework previous tattooing immediately, but layering pigment over existing work without proper planning can worsen the outcome. In many cases, pigment lightening or laser removal is required before new tattooing can be performed safely. Teaching artists to recognise when removal is necessary protects the client’s skin integrity and ultimately leads to better results.

Why did you include business training in the course? Technical skill alone does not build a sustainable career. Luxury Brows Academy also teaches consultation frameworks, communication strategies and client retention systems so students graduate with the tools to build strong, professional businesses. These systems have been central to building a loyal client base at Luxury Brows Perth, and sharing them helps artists establish confident, client-focused careers from the start.

C Insights from industry leader, Dr Samantha Davidson

UCF 2026 was more than a clinical education event—it showcased Cutera’s ongoing investment in Australia and New Zealand through world-class education, clinical collaboration, and a commitment to bringing innovative technologies and new opportunities to practitioners across the region. Held on the Gold Coast under the theme Connection is the New Innovation, the event brought together leading physicians, nurses, dermal clinicians, and industry experts for three days of hands-on training, clinical discussion, and collaboration. More importantly, it demonstrated Cutera’s long-term vision for supporting customers and advancing aesthetic medicine across Australia and New Zealand. “Australia and New Zealand continue to play an important role in Cutera’s global strategy. The region has a highly engaged clinical community with practitioners who continually help shape how our technologies are used around the world. Our investment in ANZ reflects our confidence in this market and our commitment to delivering the technology, education, and partnerships that support our customers’ long-term success.” said VP Global Marketing, Caitlin Murray.

Investing In Clinical Excellence

Q&A panel led by CUCF Co-Moderator, Dr Andrew Freeman

That commitment was evident throughout the program. Friday’s Masterclasses provided small-group, device-specific training across Secret PRO, enlighten, excel V+, and xeo+, giving attendees direct access to practical education and expert guidance. Throughout the weekend, local faculty delivered evidence-based presentations and real-world clinical insights spanning vascular treatments, pigmentation, acne, resurfacing, skin rejuvenation, and practice integration. The program reflected Cutera’s belief that innovation extends beyond technology. By investing in ongoing education and creating opportunities for clinicians to learn from one another, Cutera helps customers maximise clinical outcomes and build successful practices.

Investing In The Future Key insights into business strategies and clinical best practices

CUCF 2026 also highlighted Cutera’s commitment to developing the next generation of aesthetic professionals, welcoming Dermal Science College students to the event for the first time. Having trained on Cutera technology as part of their studies, students were able to engage with experienced physicians, nurses, dermal clinicians, and industry leaders, reinforcing Cutera’s investment in education from the classroom through to clinical practice. The event also fostered meaningful connections beyond the lecture theatre, with networking events that brought together customers, faculty, and the Cutera team to share ideas, experiences, and opportunities for collaboration.

What’s Ahead For Cutera And The ANZ Market Building the future of aesthetics together with Vice President, Sales for ANZ and APAC, Martin Collins

CUCF’s Women in Business panel with leading experts in aesthetics and practice management

For Richard Ward, Director of Sales, ANZ, CUCF represents just one part of Cutera’s broader investment in the region. “Our customers can expect to see that investment continue well beyond CUCF. Throughout the remainder of 2026 and into 2027, we’ll be introducing new technologies, expanding our education calendar, and creating more opportunities for clinicians to connect, learn, and grow. Every initiative is designed with one goal in mind—to ensure our customers have access to best-in-class technology, practical education, and the local support they need to deliver outstanding patient outcomes and build successful practices.” CUCF 2026 wasn’t simply an event, it was a reflection of Cutera’s continued investment in the future of aesthetics across Australia and New Zealand, and a preview of what’s still to come. The Staying Power Of Microneedling Dermal clinician FABIENNE RICH on 15 years with Dermapen and why it still leads her treatment menu

F

ew treatments hold their place on a clinic menu for more than a decade, let alone grow more requested with each passing year. Microneedling has done both, evolving from a niche procedure into one of the most performed treatments in aesthetics. We sat down with Fabienne Rich, dermal clinician and owner of The Facial Room, to find out why.

You’ve seen microneedling evolve from a niche treatment to one of the most requested procedures in aesthetics. Why has it remained so relevant while other treatments have come and gone? I think microneedling has remained so popular because it simply works. Our industry is constantly evolving, and while new treatments are always emerging, clients ultimately want something that delivers real, visible results. Microneedling continues to do that for a huge range of concerns, from acne and scarring to pigmentation, sun damage and ageing skin. What I love most is that it works with the skin rather than against it. By stimulating collagen and elastin production naturally, we’re helping the skin become healthier, stronger and more resilient over time. Some of my favourite moments are when clients tell me they’re finally comfortable leaving the house without makeup. Helping people feel confident in their own skin is what I love most about being a dermal clinician.

What continues to impress you most about Dermapen, and why has it remained a staple in your treatment room? I’ve been using Dermapen for around 15 years, and it has remained a staple because it consistently delivers exceptional results. The device is fast, precise and comfortable for clients, while specialised scar treatment settings allow for controlled treatment of more challenging scar tissue. It’s also wireless, lightweight and can be updated through an app, making it practical, efficient and easy to use in a busy clinic environment. 88 | SPA+CLINIC

Dermal Clinician Fabienne Rich, owner of The Facial Room

What really excites me is that Dermapen isn’t just a device company. Their range of mesotherapy ampoules and serums is at the cutting edge of science, incorporating technologies such as low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, Calphasome™ delivery systems and exosomes. I’ve recently started incorporating their Exo-Grow hair restoration treatments with scalp needling and have already been encouraged by the results we’re seeing with thinning hair.

With so many microneedling devices now available, what should practitioners and patients be looking for? Not all microneedling devices are created equal. Practitioners should look for devices backed by clinical research, strong safety standards and ongoing education. One of the reasons I’ve remained loyal to Dermapen is their commitment to innovation, safety and practitioner education. The sterile disposable cartridges and protective sleeve system help maintain an exceptionally high standard of hygiene, which is incredibly important in any clinical setting. For patients, choosing the right clinician is just as important as choosing the right device. Great results come from a combination of advanced technology, quality homecare and a practitioner who understands how to tailor treatments to the individual. Dr Andrew Christie, Dermapen’s International Medical Trainer, has been a fantastic educator, and that culture of continual learning is one of the reasons I believe Dermapen continues to lead the industry.

The AntiInflammatory Answer From Roaccutane to a world-first topical active, pharmaceutical specialist SHAUN BALDWIN is rewriting the rulebook on inflamed skin with ZenCell™

F

or decades, acne treatment has relied on a familiar arsenal of benzoyl peroxide, retinoids and antibiotics. While effective for some, many patients continue to battle persistent breakouts, inflammation and increasingly reactive skin. Australian brand ZenCell™ believes there is another path forward. Its Restore Serum is the world’s first topical formulation to harness p-Toluenesulfonamide, a pharmaceuticalgrade compound with origins in anti-cancer research. In preclinical studies, the ingredient reduced inflammatory markers by up to 30 per cent, paving the way for a new approach to managing inflammatory skin conditions. Designed for use across the face and body, Restore Serum targets not only acne but also rosacea, eczema, dermatitis and skin sensitivity. We sat down with founder Shaun Baldwin to learn more about the science behind the innovation and why it could reshape the future of skin health.

around targeting bacteria, reducing oil production or accelerating exfoliation. While these approaches have their place, they can leave some individuals dealing with dryness, irritation and compromised barrier function. Rather than focusing solely on what is visible on the surface, it offered the potential to support the underlying mechanisms associated with inflammation and skin imbalance.

After decades in pharmaceuticals, why create your own brand? People aren’t simply looking for products or treatments, they’re looking for confidence, reassurance and solutions that genuinely improve their quality of life. Behind every skin concern is a person who wants to feel comfortable in their own skin. ZenCell™ is the culmination of decades of pharmaceutical experience, scientific Shaun Baldwin, Founder of ZenCell™ curiosity, and a desire to leave a positive footprint by helping people feel better about themselves.

You helped introduce Roaccutane to the Australian market. How did that experience shape ZenCell™? I saw firsthand how transformative effective treatment could be, not only in improving the skin itself, but in restoring confidence, selfesteem and overall wellbeing. At the same time, it became clear that many people were searching for alternatives that were gentler, more accessible and suitable for long-term use. Many felt caught in a cycle of products that focused on managing visible symptoms rather than addressing the underlying biological processes driving inflammation. ZenCell™ was born from that philosophy.

What convinced you p-Toluenesulfonamide could offer something new? It wasn’t being widely explored within mainstream skincare, despite some very compelling scientific research surrounding its biological activity. For decades, acne treatments have centred 90 | SPA+CLINIC

What do you hope ZenCell™ offers beyond visible improvements? Inflammatory skin conditions rarely affect only the skin. They impact confidence, mental wellbeing, relationships and how a person sees themselves every day. Many people feel as though they’ve exhausted every available option. If we can offer them a new perspective and a reason to feel hopeful again, that’s incredibly meaningful to me.

Where do you see science-led skincare heading? The future will become increasingly focused on understanding the biology of the skin and supporting its natural functions, rather than simply masking symptoms. Consumers are more informed than ever; they want products grounded in genuine scientific thinking, but they also want meaningful results. We remain committed to following the science wherever it leads.

Laseraid: More Than A Device Provider The complete technology, service & support partner

I

nvesting in aesthetic technology is about far more than purchasing a device. The right platform can transform a clinic’s treatment offering, but only when it’s backed by expert guidance, comprehensive training and reliable ongoing support. That’s the philosophy behind Laseraid. More than a technology supplier, Laseraid partners with clinics throughout the entire device journey, from selecting the right platform through to implementation, practitioner education, ongoing maintenance and responsive technical servicing. By combining advanced technology with long-term clinical and engineering support, Laseraid helps clinics invest with confidence, whilst protecting both patient experience and their bottom line.

Choosing Technology That Fits Your Business No two clinics are the same, which is why choosing the right device should never be a one-size-fits-all decision. Before recommending a platform, Laseraid’s experienced area managers work closely with clinics to understand their business goals, patient demographics, practitioner capability, treatment mix and future growth plans. This allows the team to align its technology recommendation not only with clinical outcomes, but with commercial success. By taking a consultative approach, Laseraid helps clinics maximise device utilisation, improve treatment profitability and make confident investment decisions that support long-term growth.

Flexible Ways To Invest Recognising that every clinic has different financial priorities, Laseraid offers multiple pathways to accessing technology. Whether through a monthly subscription, rent-to-own or outright purchase, clinics can choose the investment model that best suits their business strategy. These flexible options also provide the opportunity to assess how technology integrates into the clinic before making a long-term commitment, reducing financial risk while supporting sustainable growth.

Support That Doesn’t End After Installation For many clinics, the real value of a technology partner begins once the device arrives. Laseraid has built its reputation on providing dedicated technical and clinical support long after installation. Rather than combining sales and support into a single role, clinics have access to specialist teams across engineering, servicing and education, ensuring every enquiry is handled by professionals with the right expertise.

The company also takes a preventative approach to servicing, helping identify potential issues before they result in costly downtime. With engineering teams operating across Australia and New Zealand, support is designed to minimise disruptions, protect clinic revenue and avoid cancelled appointments. As Richard New, CEO of Laseraid, explains, “A device sitting idle is a day your clinic isn’t earning.”

Supporting CandelaTM Clinics Across Australia & New Zealand Demonstrating its commitment to supporting the wider industry, Laseraid recently confirmed its national engineering capability for Candela™ laser technologies. Backed by more than 20 years of experience servicing Candela™ devices, the company now provides engineering support for most aesthetic device categories, with response times measured in hours rather than days. Today, Laseraid services more than 750 devices across 300 clinics throughout Australia and New Zealand, including independent practices, medical clinics and large corporate groups. Its manufacturer-certified engineers are supported by an established spare parts supply chain, helping clinics keep devices operating reliably and treatments on schedule.

Building Practitioner Confidence Technology is only as valuable as the confidence of the practitioners using it and that’s why Laseraid’s education team is made up of experienced dermal clinicians and registered nurses who provide ongoing training across multiple laser and energy-based platforms. Education extends beyond device operation, helping practitioners strengthen treatment knowledge, improve patient consultations and successfully integrate new technologies into their clinic offering. This continued support ensures devices become productive business assets rather than underutilised investments.

More Than Technology Laseraid’s portfolio continues to evolve with access to leading aesthetic technologies, including Neogen Nitrogen Plasma, but the company’s focus has never been solely on introducing the newest platform. Instead, Laseraid believes lasting success comes from pairing the right technology with the right infrastructure, strategic advice, flexible investment pathways, clinical education and dependable technical support. Because the best technology partner isn’t simply the one who supplies the device. It’s the one who helps your clinic get the very best from it, every day. Beauty Rep: B2B Ordering Just Got An Upgrade The new digital platform connecting aesthetic brands and clinics in one place

E

very clinic manager knows the ritual. An order placed over email, a follow-up by text, a price list buried three weeks deep in the inbox, and a spreadsheet that was accurate right up until it wasn’t. The partnerships between aesthetic brands and clinics have always run on connection, from education sessions and product demonstrations to ongoing CEO and Co-Founder conversations with trusted Keri Concannon reps. The systems behind those partnerships, however, have not kept pace. As brands and clinics grow into more complex businesses, the everyday mechanics of the relationship, including ordering, education, marketing support and communication, are scattered across multiple platforms, creating administration nobody has time for on either side. Beauty Rep was built to close that gap. The platform comes with serious industry pedigree. CEO and Co-Founder Keri Concannon is a former Obagi Medical sales and 92 | SPA+CLINIC

COO and Co-Founder Olivia Schmid

marketing executive, while COO and Co-Founder Olivia Schmid brings a background in commercial operations and sales strategy with Galderma and AbbVie. Together they have created a digital platform that connects aesthetic brands and practices through one centralised ecosystem, bringing ordering, education, marketing resources and communication into a single place.

From Inbox To Dashboard

For most clinics, ordering professional skincare and aesthetic products still means emails, phone calls, spreadsheets and text messages. Beauty Rep brings the whole process into one streamlined digital environment, where practices can discover new professional brands, access education for the ranges they stock, view and download approved marketing resources and place orders directly through the platform. Importantly, Beauty Rep is not a distributor or reseller. Clinics continue purchasing directly from brands, on each brand’s individual

TECHNOLOGY

“Beauty Rep has helped us create a more seamless experience for our partners. The platform is intuitive, reminds clinics of previous orders, provides access to marketing resources and makes ordering much more efficient. It gives our team greater visibility while allowing us to spend more time supporting our partners through education, relationships and business growth.” – Vivian Gardiner, Managing Director of Marini Skin Solutions

terms, with Beauty Rep acting purely as the technology layer connecting the two sides of the industry.

Reading The Shelves Where the platform gets really interesting is what happens after the order is placed. Through a centralised dashboard, practices can view their purchasing history, track orders and identify spending patterns over time. That visibility translates directly to the bottom line. Clinics can prepare for busy and quiet periods, avoid over-ordering, and stop capital being tied up in products that are not moving. Retail shelves start working harder and purchasing shifts from reactive to strategic.

Vivian Gardiner, Managing Director of Marini Skin Solutions

Backing The Reps The same visibility works in the other direction. With insight into ordering patterns, product engagement and resource usage, sales teams can better understand partner needs, spot opportunities earlier and arrive at every conversation informed. Tools include lead generation and the ability to share wholesale offers direct to clinic partners while the platform takes manual order processing off their desks.

Proof In Practice As one of Beauty Rep’s early adopters, Marini Skin Solutions, previously known as Jan Marini, has experienced first-hand how the platform changes the ordering experience on both sides of the partnership.

Work Smarter Beauty Rep reflects a broader movement across aesthetics towards smarter systems that match the way modern clinics and brands actually operate. For clinics, that means less time chasing orders and more confidence in every purchasing decision. For brands, a clearer picture of their partners and more time for the work that built the industry in the first place. Because the connection at the heart of aesthetics is not going anywhere. It just finally has the infrastructure to match. spaandclinic.com.au | 93
