As 2017 ends, we enter our busiest sales period of the year. Ensuring product is front and centre is the surest way of guaranteeing you get your share of the ever growing gift card market.

As you will see in this edition, we have new product coming on tap for the Christmas period from Jetstar, Supercheap Auto, Macpac and Millennium Hotels.

Next year, we have even more new content arriving to excite and delight our customers.

Before Christmas, an epay-led initiative with Microsoft 365 and Trend Micro sees them joining forces in one product. This product bundle has proven to be hugely successful in selected overseas markets to grow the software category and we anticipate this software innovation to be a winner at key periods such as ‘Back to School’ in 2018. epay Giftstation’s digital transformation continues via our website and app.

Consumers can order gift cards and have them sent digitally or via courier to any email or physical address in New Zealand. The Giftstation digital wallet allows recipients of gift cards to load their cards into the wallet, where they can check card balances, expiry date, card number and redemption locations. We have a vast number of users registering gift cards and progressing to digital transacting behaviour. In 2018 we plan to work with more retailers to ensure digital gift cards can be redeemed in store, straight off a consumer’s phone.

THE DIGITAL WALLET The digital wallet allows consumers to pay for items using their smartphones rather than bank cards and cash by linking bank cards to apps on smartphones. Digital wallet customers can power their purchases in multiple ways. For example consumers can have their bank card linked to their digital wallet. The uptake in New Zealand has been slow but with more banks getting on board and innovators like epay driving in-store solutions it’s becoming easier to pay for things with a smartphone or to access discounts and member loyalties.
