THREE CHEERS FOR OSHI’S BOYS! Oshiwara Shines: Victorious in Intra-School Football Tournament

In a thrilling display of skill, resilience, and teamwork, CPGIS Oshiwara under 17 and under 16 football teams etched their names in glory during a pulsating intra-school tournament, facing formidable opponents in CPGIS Pune and CPGIS Thane.

Unfortunately, Hadi suffered a setback with a sprained ankle at the end of the first half, rendering him unavailable for the rest of the tournament. Arhan Shinde stepped in admirably, proving the depth of talent in the Oshiwara lineup.

The tournament kicked off with an under-17 clash against CPGIS Pune, where Oshiwara showcased their prowess. The match was marked by a standout performance from defender Hadi Bagban , making a goal line clearance to deny Pune the lead.

Oshiwara seized control of the game, and the defining moment arrived when Ojasya Ulfat unleashed an ambitious shot that rattled the top bin, sending the crowd into a wild celebration.

Despite Pune's multiple attempts, Ishan Khilari, Oshiwara's goalkeeper, stood tall and denied them any chance to equalize.

The match concluded with a well-deserved 1-0 victory for CPGIS Oshiwara.

The second match featured the under-16 teams of CPGIS Oshiwara and CPGIS Thane. Oshiwara scored the first goal in the second half of the game, but tension soared as Thane scored two goals in quick succession. However, Omar's swift response, scoring from the kick-off, levelled the playing field. With both teams deadlocked, the match went to penalties. Omar's decisive goal, along with successful penalties from Sidharth and Arjun Gupta, secured a 52 victory for CPGIS Oshiwara post penalties.

The under-17 team returned to the pitch for the third match against CPGIS Thane, brimming with confidence after Pune's resounding 6-0 victory over Thane. Ojasya and Anshul wasted no time, scoring two rapid goals in the first half. Despite Oshiwara's relentless attacks, Thane's defence held firm. Aarush Varma made a crucial tackle but suffered a significant knee injury. Despite this setback, Oshiwara secured a 2-0 victory. The most noteworthy feature of this tournament, was the incredible teamwork and distribution of work amongst the team. Arhan Shinde, Arjunn Rele and Aarush Varma worked hard and maintained a clean sheet in both Under 17 matches.

The jubilant celebration that followed saw everyone, from teachers to players, rushing onto the field to share in the triumph. Eshan Aggarwal, the captain of the under-17 team, played a pivotal role in motivating the squad with his inspiring words before each game, setting an excellent example for the entire team.

As the tournament reached its conclusion, CPGIS Oshiwara emerged as the overall champion.

Returning home in a bus filled with energy and pride, CPGIS Oshiwara could bask in the glory of their achievement, a testament to the spirit, skill, and teamwork that define the heart of school sports.

HOME ALONE "Home Alone," a cinematic treasure directed by Chris Columbus in 1990, unfolds the charming story of young Kevin McCallister, played by the talented Macaulay Culkin. The narrative unfolds as Kevin is unintentionally left behind during his family's Christmas vacation, setting the stage for a series of unfortunate yet amusing events.

Crafted by the skilled hand of John Hughes, the script seamlessly weaves humor with familial sentiments. Culkin's portrayal of Kevin exudes charm as he navigates the challenges of being home alone. The noteworthy performances by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern as bumbling burglars contribute comedic depth, particularly when Kevin ingeniously sets up traps to thwart their efforts.

Behind the scenes, the production of "Home Alone" was marked by meticulous craftsmanship for its time. Home alone might not be as fancy in terms of quality as newer movies, but it really stands out when you look at other movies from the same time.

Director Chris Columbus orchestrated a delightful balance of comedic timing and heartwarming moments, enhancing the film's enduring appeal. Not only this but the set design was able to enhance the films appeal. The tricks the production used to make certain scenes was truly a sight to see. I really loved certain tricks Macaulay uses on the kidnappers and this allowed the film to be a very unique watch.

The on-screen chemistry, including the young Culkin, brought the characters to life, creating a memorable cinematic experience. The cast was well selected with having right actors playing right roles which enhanced the whole experience of the story.

Furthermore, the film's success is indebted to John Williams' festive soundtrack, perfectly complementing on-screen antics and adding an extra layer of holiday magic. "Home Alone" continues to be a holiday staple, and its enduring popularity is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the talented cast and crew. Their dedication created a timeless classic that resonates with audiences across generations. I find this movie to be one of those that you can watch again and again.

If I had to rate the movie looking at all its aspects I would give it a solid 9/10. ~ Ojasya Soham Ulfat

FIGHTING THE URGE TO CONTROL How to change the way you see people, and how you treat them.

Imagine two people in your mind: the one you love the most and the one you respect the most. Now, could you ask yourself which one you find yourself getting upset with more often? Typically, the answer to this is the one you love the most. When I recognised this pattern in a conversation with a friend, it led me to a strange realisation about yet another classification of the human species. This one is simple; it only has two categorieseach subjective to the individual reading this.

The first category is the one you see as a part of your life, and the second is the one you see as a 20

part of yourself. Typically, weaker relationships such as acquaintances, classmates, teachers, and young friendships fall into the first category. You recognize that such individuals have their own individuality. You understand that they have their own motives, thoughts, and actions. As such, their choices do not affect you much. Whether they make a mistake or achieve something, it may concern you for a bit- but never enough to evoke powerful emotion from you. As you respect their autonomy more, you show little control over these individuals.

The second category often consists of companions, romantic partners, children, and occasionally- parents.

Such relationships are deep, and you are used to their involvement and presence. You meet these people, think about these people, and have care for these people at the same level you as yourself, if not more. As such, a strange phenomenon occurs: Due to this strong attachment, one may attach their sense of identity to this presence in their lives.

When this occurs, we see these people as extensions of ourselves, sharing the same being in different forms.

Different terms appear for such connections across cultures: Twin flames, soul mates, soul companions, etc.

Although a beautiful experience, strong passion often evokes other strong emotionsand unfortunately- one of these may be that of authority and anger.

You may often find yourself irked by their decisions, wishing they had chosen to act the way you would have. When they fail to act in a manner pleasing to you this can threaten the sense of identity you have for them, and subsequently yourself. This threatened state can cause us to become triggered into an offensive/defensive state.

Romantic partners quarrel in such situations, parents and children fall into a tussle for power, and friends behave similarly.

Of course, such an incident is only caused by our false sense of authority in another's life.

I found myself placing my mother in the second category one day, annoyed when I realised she had thrown away an item I thought could have much more use before it could be thrown away. In classic teenage fashion, I launched into a heated argument. Later on, in

retrospection, my perspective shifted to her eyes, and suddenly, I saw the world as she did.

I imagined how I must have looked to her in that second. I, too, was acting contrary to what she would have wanted. I rationalised, and I realised that in all my love for her, I had misplaced my respect for her autonomy. By placing her and everyone else in my life into the second category of people, I had been doing a great injustice to their individuality. It was only after recognising them as whole individuals in themselves and not extensions of myself, that I found my relationships with them improving. I could see them more clearly, and as a consequence, I was seen more clearly.

It is perhaps because of this common error in placement that so many quarrels arise between companions and family.

To recognise a person’s free will is essential to treating them with respect, and to treat someone 22

with respect is a requisite for upholding your humanity.

Dear reader, the next time you find yourself annoyed by actions outside of your control, I urge you to remove the person in front of you from the second category into the first. By distancing yourself from them, you will find that your minds are closer than ever.

Guardian The Lonely and Great God

When I started to write this, I was pretty certain about one thing – Although words are meant to be my thing, I proudly accept my defeat to them, as words, mere words could never express what an incredible thing I have come across.

I have been the greatest fan of Korean dramas but no show has come as close to my heart as this.

Some time ago I came across this show “Guardian : The Great and Lonely God” (2016 - 2017). I had known about it earlier, but I would have never thought that I was going to watch it two years later and sit in front of my laptop to write this overwhelming review.

As a lover of imaginative fictional stories, I have watched countless romantic movies and television series and in so many languages.

But never anything like this.

Throughout the story I felt whatever they represented all to the deepest core of my heart. The sorrow, the love, the love among that sorrow (Ji Eun Tak’s sorrowful love) everything felt true, true to the core. Not for a single moment did it seem like what I have been watching was nothing but a story acted by exceptionally talented actors – it all felt real.

I know I am just an ordinary audience of the show, my opinion really doesn’t matter much and it might seem a bit much for people out there – but I wanted the creators to know (if they ever happen to come across this mini piece of writing)

that they made something that has touched my heart in a way nothing has ever done before.

A respectful bow to the writer, the director, all the actors and everyone who has made this masterpiece.

Once more, kudos to everyone who worked behind this show to make it so beautiful.
