Food Centre Expansion will support Saskatchewan’s value-added ag sector The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan announced, May 4, a $2.3 million investment into the expansion of the AgriFood Innovation Centre.

This funding is part of the Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP).

The Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre, the province’s only commercial incubation centre for food processing, is undergoing a major expansion to further assist food processors with adding value to their products and preparing to bring them to market.

To date, the first phase addition has added 12,200 square feet at the site of the Agri-Food Innovation Centre in Saskatoon. The first phase expansion will consist of additional incubation suites, storage and an extrusion commercialization suite; the second phase will

include a maintenance shop and a separate facility for food and industrial (non-food) processing.

“Our Saskatchewan food processors continue to develop innovative value-added foods and beverages that respond to changing consumer demand in Canada and around the world,” said Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Marie-Claude Bibeau.

“This funding will support the development of new agri-food products, creating more jobs and a more diversified agricultural economy for Saskatchewan.”

“The expansion of the Food Centre reflects not only the growth of our value-added food and beverage processing sector in Saskatchewan, but also the Food Centre’s reputation for excellence and innovation,”

Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister David Marit said.

“Saskatchewan is uniquely positioned to help meet growing global consumer demand for agri-food products.

Our government’s commitment to the Food Centre expansion supports the growth of our value-added industry and encourages the commercialization of new ideas, processes and products.”

The Food Centre is a non-profit organization resulting from a partnership between the Government of Saskatchewan (represented by the Ministry of Agriculture), the Saskatchewan Food Processors Association, and the University of Saskatchewan.

“The Food Centre’s vision to be a leader in Saskatchewan’s agrifood industry is stronger

than ever with the new expansion of the AgriFood Innovation Centre,” Food Centre President Dan Prefontaine said. “The additional capacity in extrusion technology will support commercialization of Saskatchewan-grown crops in many innovative food products, specifically the plant-based protein market.

Our new incubation suites will continue to support the

growth of agri-businesses by providing options for entrepreneurs and start-up companies in the agri-food sector. We will leverage these new capabilities to grow the value-added industry in Saskatchewan.”

The five-year, $3 billion CAP includes $2 billion for cost-shared strategic initiatives delivered by the provinces and territories and $1 billion for federal programs and services.

The total investment in the expansion is $7.55 million, with funding from a variety of sources including Western Economic Diversification Canada ($3.5 million), Agriculture and AgriFood Canada and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture ($2.3 million), industry support ($1 million) and the Food Centre’s own capital reserve ($750,000).

Saskatchewan extends the Small Business Emergency Payment program The Government of Saskatchewan is extending the Saskatchewan Small Business Emergency Payment (SSBEP) program an additional month to support small businesses province-wide during the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The extended support is available to businesses across the province that were ordered to temporarily close or substantially curtail operations due to public health orders.

“While we are seeing solid success with the provincial vaccine rollout, many Saskatchewan small businesses continue to be affected by the restrictions due

to the pandemic,” Trade and Export Development Minister Jeremy Harrison said. “The extension we are announcing today will continue our support for small businesses in the province, which is the foundation of our strong economic recovery.”

Through two phases and six eligibility periods, the SSBEP has provided more than $66 million in financial support to more than 6,400 small businesses as of April 26, 2021. The eligibility criteria remain consistent with how the first two phases of the program operated for previous eligibility periods.

The maximum payment

per eligibility period is $5,000. Payments are based on 15 per cent of the business’ November 2019, December 2019 or February 2020 monthly sales revenue. Seasonal business payments are based on 15 per cent of the business’ average monthly sales revenue for the months it operated in 2019.

The eligibility period is April 1 to 30, 2021, and the program will accept applications until May 31, 2021. Those who have previously applied and received payments through the December to March offering of the program will not need to reapply.

One STARS call, one motor vehicle collision, two investigation requests, one vehicle fire, four false alarms and five grass fires.

Vaccine won’t set you free, but it will bring us closer to normal First shot down, one more to go.

I’ve taken that first step - a real shot in the arm and a sense of normalcy.

On April 19, I sauntered up to the Dekker Centre in North Battleford for the Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs Vaccination Clinic.

Never before have I been so eager for a needle.

I’ve not mentioned my vaccination before - was about to, but then I hit Facebook. You know Facebook - where opinion goes to die.

Well, another friend mentioned they too were vaccinated, and another “friend” chimed in with a sarcastic “They would pray for them”.

Good grief. I’ve received the AstraZeneca. If I’d have proudly said so, I would have been on the receiving end of a rant about my stupidity, my naivety, my gullibility, how ill informed I am, and how Bill Gates is now looking over my shoulder and I’m now under control of a New World Order cabal of Dr. Evil’s.

They, of course, claim they’ve done the research.

“No blood clots for me! I’ve heard from a reliable source! A guy who knows a guy who was the janitor for a gal who delivered pizzas to a fella who knows the gardener of a doctor who did a colonoscopy on a veterinarian who said his neighbour was in Walmart the other day and read a National Enquirer that said Elvis is alive and married to Bigfoot and taking over the world with vaccines! I’ve seen it on the Faceplant - gotta be true!”

Yep. I’ve got friends at both ends of the spectrum. Those that think everything is a government conspiracy to control the population and we should open it all up before we lose our freedom, and those that want us to lock it all down and live secluded in a cabin in the woods, freaking out every time a gopher doesn’t wear a mask or wash its paws.

Look. You could get a blood clot - the instance is incredibly low. You have a better chance of getting in an accident driving to the clinic, or getting attacked by a bear in an Alaskan Costco. You have a real good chance of getting a blood clot if you get COVID. While I pondered my imminent demise, I still have not seen Bill Gates following me, nor have I seen the Illuminati going through my garbage. I haven’t turned into a zombie, nor do I have a desire to become a Justin Trudeau supporter. The real danger isn’t COVID, it’s someone with an ill-informed opinion disguised as fact.

Get the damn vaccine. Be picky if you want to, but get one! And quit judging others who do get the vaccine.

Let’s get this province (and world) moving again.

Moe mostly right about vaccine strategy

There are surely more things Premier Scott Moe and his government need to do in this COVID-19 fight.

But what the government has done with its vaccine supply has worked.

The problem is that vaccines are not the exclusive solution.

While the new cases have, thankfully, levelled off a bit in the southeast and Moose Jaw areas, the new, seemingly more contagious variants continue to hammer Regina and area very hard.

The result of this is that Saskatchewan continues to have among the highest per capita new cases in the country, (although even bigger problems in Ontario have pushed Saskatchewan off the front pages of the newspapers).

Far more disturbing than this, however, is that we are now leading the country in per capita COVID-19-related hospitalizations and are now seeing record ICU admissions.

This is especially a problem in Regina where ICU doctors and other staff pleaded with the government recently to address the issue of overcrowded ICUs where patients were bunking people in at a rate of two to a room.

In fact, NDP Opposition leader Ryan Meili invited Moe - at the behest of the ICU doctors - to take a quick tour of the ICUs to see how bad the problem actually is.

We need to stop a moment and consider the reality here.

Yes, Oppositions will always highlight the most

extreme of any situation to score political points.

And, yes, the problem that they point to is one that is - at least at this point - far worse in Regina.

But that in no way means that the problem isn’t real, that it couldn’t spread to people elsewhere in the province or that it doesn’t affect you right now.

That cases in Regina stubbornly refuse to decrease is a legitimate worry and the thing now driving the debate about why we need more restrictions and certainly why the restrictions we currently have been extended across the province until the middle of next month.

This isn’t just a Regina problem. We also now see a rise in cases - especially new variant cases - in Saskatoon as well.

And one simply can’t underplay the significant of overcrowded city hospitals and ICUs. For the rest of the province, rising hospitalizations means there won’t be a bed for you if you get COVID-19 or a heart attack of if you are in an accident.

Government numbers show less Saskatchewan people are dying now than in January when more older people were dying of COVID-19.

However, those now in hospitals and ICUs are staying there longer. This is likely due to the sad reality that that older people who catch COVID19 die more quickly and younger people can fight it longer in hospital care.

The added problem is the nature of this province that makes travel in and out of cities a necessity

for most rural people.

This further makes it necessary for all of us to play by the same general rules (mask wearing, social distancing, severe limits on in-person dining or bar visits) if those rules are to have any positive impact at all.

In short, it’s not exclusively about vaccines … although Moe is right that vaccines are likely the way out of this pandemic.

Why there are less people dying in Saskatchewan has everything to do with the fact that we are leading the nation in per capita vaccination especially among older people.

While there is an argument that emergency and frontline and others in public settings like teachers need to be a priority too, the reality is

that federal government is only providing so much vaccine.

The vaccines we have been doled out quickly and - arguably - wisely.

Yes, the province needs to do other things better.

But vaccine distribution is one thing we are doing rather well.

The train smoke lingers low and long, The distant whistle shrill and strong.

The above piece might seem a little strange to some folks, but before the railroads started using diesel-electrics, they used huge coal-fired steamers to pull their trains!

It was quite common at one time out on the lone prairie to see a long, low cloud of train smoke in the distance.

The older people who remember this stuff are apt to say: “Oh yes, that’s the way it was alright!” but I’m afraid that as time has passed, a lot of younger ones who read this might be a bit skeptical.

After all, there is an environmental law! But it was true alright, okay?

But progress is that way, I guess, always changing!

It would take some kind of genius, I think to try and predict the future of things, and I’m darn sure that Y.T. doesn’t have the qualifications to be a genius! But as time passes (and it seems to me all too quickly!) and these operations disappear, a fellow had maybe better mention some of them before we forget completely.

However, it’s not likely that the people who write about railroads will let that happen. Pieces like “The National Dream” will be around forever, presenting the driving of “Last Spike” as seen through the 20/20 eyesight of historians.

This little bit is something else, and is the story of railroads as seen through the eyes of a poor farm kid who didn’t know very much!

It is getting a little more difficult each year to point out to the upcoming generation that ours was a simple, almost slow way of life, which we did things when they became necessary and not much before.

Now, however, the planners of the future are busy all the time finding ways to satisfy societies “needs” almost before they occur!

My generation used to call this part of the world “next year country”, and in stubborn contrast to that, mebbe that is why

older types sometimes come out with small unphilosophical criticisms of the future, when all we really know is what it was like in the past!

So, having revealed this point-of-view, mebbe I’d better just forget this “Things To Come” stuff and get around to telling what that dumb farm kid saw!

At the top of this page it mentions “Trainride” and I suppose to some this may not seem very historical at all. But I’ll bet my bottom buck that when steamships appeared people thought they’d never forget the ones that sailed either!

I was looking through a book last night by Peter C. Newman, in which he described the splash and splendour of the late 1800’s, and, Railroad Barons aside, wondered how many stories could be told by the “little” people who were affected by it but had no part in railway construction at all!

The ones who didn’t have huge fortunes to spend and didn’t live in huge mansions!

There must be thousands, some very dramatic (including that one about Bill Miner!) and other somewhat duller experiences by Bob Mason.

So here we go again!

I suppose mebbe my first impression of a nearby railroad was on winter mornings when off to the east we could see a long trail of smoke coming across the railroad bridge as a train made it’s way to Edmonton from Saskatoon. Often, because of a cold morning mirage along the river, things would take on great odd shapes but that long line of smoke meant only one thing to us.

What a wonder theses huge steamers were to us then. Just imagine!

All that power and progress way out here in the West!

Years ago Y.T. went back to Radisson where he grew up, and one afternoon he felt that he had to mark down this nottoo-well-written verse!

The Old Home Town ... where from the station platform, Perched on a painted cream-can in the shade.

On sunny days he’d watch the trains come in, Shunting and blowing and dropping empty cars.

Backwards and forwards, switching, coupling, spurting,

Power beyond belief ... to move a train!

Loaded with dusty grain!

And there! In his old hometown! For all to see, The scale that ran from might to helplessness!

Because the gravelled highways weren’t really very good in those days, the folks used to take us every now and then to Saskatoon on the train.

We would gather and wait on the station platform as a huge steamer bucked past us, with steam flying all over the place, climb hurriedly onto the stool the trainman always put down, and up onto the iron steps before he hollered “All aboard!”

I imagine that there are thousands of young people who have never had the occasion to ride on a train, and I also imagine that very few of my generation didn’t!

And so much to talk, besides the ordinary stuff like “Looking down at the river”, “The Pretty Lady of Langham” and “ That soot gets everywhere!” Things like “The dying boy from Meadow Lake”, “The whistle-stop blizzard” , “The Ceepee Wreck”, “Train mishaps in the Army”, “Loud Talkers”, “The Broken Bottle”, and “excursion trains” ... hundreds of things that happened so many places to so many people in the time of railroads.

CAA announced the top 10 worst roads in Saskatchewan, as voted on by drivers, cyclists and pedestrians in the province.

The list includes roadways in eight different communities and threeway tie for the 10th spot.

The campaign took place between April 7 and 27. CAA invited everyone who uses the roads to nominate and vote for 210526G0 210526G1

With some 250,000 kilometres of roads to choose from in Saskatchewan, motorists, cyclists and pedestrians have voted on the top 10 worst offenders for this year, according to a CAA poll.

Here are the streets they voted for: 1.) Saskatchewan 4, Dorintosh; 2.) Eighth Avenue North, Regina; 3.) Saskatchewan 9, Hudson Bay; 4.) 52nd Street East, Saskatoon;

5.) Saskatchewan 340, Hafford; 6.) Grant Drive, Regina; 7.) Saskatchewan 33, Regina; 8.) Highway 13, Shaunavon; 9.) 20th Street West, Saskatoon; 10.) Three-way tie: Saskatchewan 35, Weyburn; Saskatchewan 3, Hudson Bay; Saskatchewan 9, Canora.

Potholes and crumbling pavement remain the number one problem reported. A recent CAA Cost of Poor Roads in Canada Study found the

average Saskatchewan driver pays an extra $97 per year in additional costs due to poor roads.

CAA says the purpose of the campaign is to help highlight problems and dangerous road conditions in the province and to press decision makers to address those in most need of improvements.

CAA said several factors cause roads to deteriorate in Saskatchewan, including weather conditions, heavy traffic, lack of maintenance and the freeze-thaw cycle.

The COVID-19 pandemic is not just a global health crisis, it is the biggest shock to the Saskatchewan, Canadian and world economies since the Second World War. This is a significant challenge that requires a significant response. Saskatchewan’s response can best be summarized in three words: Protect. Build. Grow.

The 2021-22 provincial budget: Protects the health and safety of our people and our economy, Builds our province through investments in infrastructure to stimulate economic activity, Grows Saskatchewan through various incentives and key investments, and delivers on 14 specific commitments to make life more affordable.

The budget provides direct funding to fight COVID-19, record levels of investment in health, education, social services and assistance, while supporting the protection of persons and property.

Canola’s come a long way

by Calvin Daniels In terms of crop development canola really is not than old.

The crop was born out of rapeseed as recently as the 1970s, and rapeseed itself was really not grown in this country until 1942.

While the base rapeseed crop is almost forgotten, canola has become perhaps the greatest success story in Canadian agriculture, and new chapters are being written with startling regularity.

It was only a couple of weeks ago it was announced Regina would soon be home to a new state-of-the-art canola processing facility, with Cargill announcing plans to begin construction of a new $350 million project next year that will be operational by 2024.

In addition, to constructing the new facility in Regina, Cargill will also update and modernize its canola facility in Clavet over the next 12 months to increase volume and

broaden capabilities at that location.

What was perhaps the most surprising aspect of the announcement for Regina was that when I was growing up in the heart of rapeseed/canola country in Tisdale some 50 short years ago, Regina was not exactly thought of as an area well-suited to producing the crop.

That the area can now support a major crush facility is really a testament to the science that has gone into the crop over the years developing varieties which have significantly expanded the area where the crop can be successfully grown.

The Cargill announcements came only a scant month after Richardson International Limited announced a significant investment in their canola crush plant in Yorkton. The expansion of the facility will see a capacity of 2.2 million metric tonnes of canola crushed annually, which made it the largest canola crusher in North America.

But, the ‘largest’ title will be a short-lived one.

Within days of the Cargill announcement Viterra said it too will build a canola crushing facility at Regina.

Construction on the new 2.5 million metric tonne – yes slightly larger than the Yorkton plant canola processing plant is expected to begin in early 2022 with production underway in 2024.

The dual announcement for a single community might seem strange, but in the case of canola plants it’s actually nothing new.

It was one day in September 2006, that Yorkton took its first step toward being one of the canola-crushing capitals of Canada.

That day two companies separately announced they would build canola processing facilities here.

The first announcement came from then James Richardson International Ltd., which said it would start construction in 2007 on a $100-million plant. The plant would be capable of processing 840,000 tonnes of canola per year - the facility that will now expand to nearly triple its original design.

The second announcement, which came about an hour after the first, was from Louis Dreyfus Canada Ltd., which said its $90-million canolacrushing facility would come on stream in 2008.

The Louis Dreyfus plant would be able to handle 850,000 tonnes of canola a year.

It’s doubtful even the most optimistic developer of canola in the 1970s could have dreamed where the crop would take Prairie agriculture, but it is clearly an example of what processing a crop grown here can mean, and the last announcements simply build on a long history of success.

I’m going to tell you about a really really, horrifying, traumatizing experience I had last night.

So last night I went to bed as normal. Maybe like an hour later I rolled over and I did that weird blinky thing where you’re half a sleep just trying to get comfy again.

So I’m mid-blink and I see this thing on the end of my bed and I’m like “What the heck?” and it’s like this glow-in-the-dark splat.

So I go to poke it off the bed with my finger, and my finger goes into

it. I leave it there because I’m not smart and I’m like OMG! this thing is sticky and wet and warm and glow-in-the-dark, and I’m just staring at it because I don’t know what else to do!

And then, it starts to move and I’m like “NOPE!” just laying there being super quiet because you know, I’m not trying to make it mad and I can hear it move.

So I did the only thing I could think of to do at the time, which was to be like “BOOP” and just kick it off the bed! It audibly hits the floor and

One of my all-time favourite breakfasts are the ham and cheddar scones that my wife Katherine makes for me.

I request these time and time again, and I am happy to share the recipe with you.

Anytime we have made these for anyone, they always get rave reviews.

The biggest tip I can give you is to not over mix the dough – this will make them tough. Work the dough until it just holds together. Even if the dough looks a bit shaggy, that is ok… we call that “rustic” in the culinary world. Enjoy!

I’m like “Oh CRAP!” I’m not hallucinating, this is not a dream, something just literally fell off my bed!

So then I’m trying to think of all the things in my room I could use to kill a monster, and I’m like, well I’ve got a dickey’s cup and a bendy-straw on my side table and I don’t have on a bra, so like I’m not in a good place to fight monsters right now!

So I screeched and cried “Ahhh” while I turned on the light and stared at the end of the bed because I’m like I

Looking at me in horror and I’m looking at myself and him in horror like No I did not just kick my 3 year old out of bed. Deny! Then I realize he’s wearing monster pajamas that glow in the dark! And he spilled his cup on his jammies then crawled into my bed and didn’t say anything so I didn’t know and I ninja kicked my three year old out of my bed because I thought he was gonna eat me!

Ham and Cheddar Scones Recipe created by Katherine Desormeaux (Mrs. Chef Dez) “Omit the ham to make cheese scones or omit both ham and cheese for plain scones. You can add raisins or fresh blueberries to the plain scones.”

2 cups all purpose flour; 1/2 cup granulated sugar; 1/2 tsp salt; 1 tbsp baking powder; 1/2 tsp baking soda; 1/2 cup very cold or frozen butter; 3/4 cup old cheddar, grated or cut into quarter inch cubes; 3/4 cup ham cut into 1/4 inch cubes; 3/4 cup buttermilk; 2 tbsp whipping cream, optional.

1.) Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

2.) Prepare a jelly roll pan or two cookie sheets with baking spray.

3.) Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda in a large bowl. Using a medium fine grater, grate the butter into the flour mixture, stirring occasionally to coat the butter pieces in flour. Toss in the ham and cheddar cubes to coat with flour.

4.) Add the butter milk and stir only enough to moisten. Do not over mix.

5.) Divide dough in half. Directly on the baking sheet, form (but don’t over work) each half of the dough into a six-inch flat circle approximately one-inch thick. Sprinkle the dough lightly with flour as necessary.

6.) Cut each disk into six wedges, but don’t separate the wedges from each other – the support from the scones being side-by-side will help them rise better. Optional – brush the tops with the whipping cream for a shinier finish.

7.) Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.

8.) Immediately upon removing from the oven re-cut the scones on the score lines. Cool for five minutes on the pan.

Makes 12 scones.

Hanley was once a large vibrate community but like many other small “Dust Belt Towns”, Hanley’s population has decreased over time, and farms have been consolidated into larger agriculture industries.

Once upon a time Hanley had one of the few Opera Houses in Canada and also one of the finest brick schools.

The Opera House, served the community until 1982 when it was torn down. It hosted many professional and amateur companies through the early years, becoming the community centre later.

There are no more grain elevators in Hanley, however, the railway still passes through the community and picks up loaded grain cars.

Next up on the highway we come to the Village of Kenaston.

Kenaston was originally named “Bonnington” until 1905 when Saskatchewan became a province. The name was changed to Kenaston after F.E. Kenaston who was the vice-president of the Saskatchewan Valley Land Company.

The Saskatchewan Valley Land Company was formed and made up of wealthy Americans.

Kenaston’s population today is around 300 residents and the community is tied to agriculture. It is centrally located to many parks and recreational areas.

Kenaston is also known as being the “Blizzard Capital” which brought on the development of the huge 18.5 foot snowman that sits in town.

Guerrero, Jr.’s breakout season arrives

A ballplayer knows he’s in fairly select company when an admiring opponent says it’s fun to watch a “franchise superstar at work.”

Those were the words of Washington’s Josh Bell in an MLB.com story after Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., of the Toronto Blue Jays officially struck the word ‘potential’ from his career description by slamming three home runs, two of them (including a grand slam) off three-time Cy Young award winner Max Scherzer, in a late April game.

He finished with seven RBI. After four or five years of speculation and hope,

Vlady Guerrero, Jr., has emphatically arrived.

For two years, Guerrero, Jr., has been the face of the Baby Jays, a trio of great young players many observers felt would grow together to lead Jays into a powerhouse. There were signs of stardom in years one and two, but Year 3 appears to be the launching pad to that predicted superstardom.

Scherzer, who was tagged for a home run by Vlady’s daddy 10 years ago, joined a select duo: The only pitchers to give up a home run to Guerrero Sr. and Jr. are him and Ivan Nova, who retired in 2020.

What an April for Guerrero, Jr.! The slimmeddown infielder (he lost 30 pounds since last year) ended the month batting .350, with seven homers (two shy of the MLB lead) and an OPS of 1.155, trailing only Mike Trout and Ronald Acuna, Jr. Bo Bichette and Cavan Biggio, who also had fathers with sterling major league careers, are the other two Baby Jays

who appear to be fulfilling the hopes of Blue Jays’ fans. Bichette bats in the No. 2 slot for the Jays and is a solid hitter (.260 and seven homers at the end of April) while Biggio has struggled in his third year, but definitely belongs in the bigs.

The Jays went 13-12 through their first 25 games and did that without two of their best offensive stars - freeagent acquisition George Springer, and Teoscar Hernandez, who slammed 16 homers in 50 games last year but missed most of April after testing positive for COVID-19. To throw the hard-hitting Springer and Hernandez into a lineup which also includes the red-hot Guerrero, Jr., Bichette and Randall Grichuk will be throwing trepidation into the psyche of opposing pitchers as the 2021 season carries on.

Meanwhile, as the homers fly out and the Jays contend for the American League East pennant, it’s only a matter of time before talk becomes seri-

ous about linking Guerrero, Jr., and Most Valuable Player discussion. May as well make this breakout season of his complete.

REFLECTIONS

by Marjorie Fortney, Seventh-day Adventist Church One of my favourite passages in scripture is Revelation, chapter 19. I guess it is because it is assurance that the good guys win.

What does the word “good” mean? Definitions from Oxford Languages gives these synonyms: morally excellent, virtuous, righteous, pious. I would say they are the love your neighbour as yourself type of people.

Verse 11 reads: Now I saw Heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on Him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.

Skipping down to verse 14 we read: And the armies in heaven, clothed in white linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. The rider on the white horse has a name written on his robe and on His thigh: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Verse 19 reads: And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse, and against His army.

You can read the other two verses for yourself. The short story is there was no contest.

He who sat on the white horse immediately declared victory and it was finished.

You see, all the armies that ever marched, all the war equipment ever invented is

no match for the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

He speaks and planets, galaxies, and universes are born. He is the One who maintains the cosmos.

He keeps the sun 93 million miles from the earth, and He keeps the planets in their orbits around the sun.

This is the same God who lived on this earth for 33 and a half years.

He is the same God who allowed Himself to be crucified and die in order to provide salvation for the human race. His tomb is empty because the grave could not hold Him. This same God knows your name.

He knows where you live. He wants to help you in your journey through life. Nothing is too difficult for Him. He loves you and wants you to live with Him in a world where there will be no death, sorrow, and pain.

According to His word He is coming back. He is the One on the white horse.

His message to all, “Come unto me all you who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28 (KJV). He’s waiting to hear from you.

You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain.

Standing somewhere in the shadows you’ll find Jesus.

He’s the only One who cares and understands.

Standing somewhere in the shadows you will find Him. You’ll know Him by the nail prints in His hands.
