NO COST YOUTH PROGRAMS The Winnie Stowell Hospital District is pleased to announce that it has two programs designed to improve the quality of life for the youth in our community through strengthening their emotional well-being and improving visual processing difficulties.

WSHD Youth Counseling Program – Provides no cost youth counseling services.

Our Licensed Professional Counselors specialize in youth counseling. Through this program, it is the hope of the District that area children be given the chance to obtain assistance, advice, and guidance as they face a wide range of challenges, such as behavioral issues or substance abuse problems.

WSHD Irlen Method Testing & Treatment Program – Do you have reason to believe that your child has a learning disability? If so, please contact the District and let us provide you with information on the Irlen Program. Through this program, District will pay to have an Irlen diagnostician, with over 20 years of experience, test your child to determine whether sensitivity and visual processing difficulties are impacting your child’s reading, learning, and the ability to focus and stay on task. If so, the District will also pay for corrective glasses.

Both of these programs are available to any eligible child between the ages 5-19 years old that is 1) a resident of the District; and 2) eligible to attend school in the East Chambers Independent School District, grades Pre-K through 12th grade.

East Chambers Lady Bucs Volleyball Schedule 2021

2021 EC Volleyball Forecast

By Tyler Crone Of all the sports the Lady Bucs volleyball team has seen more turnover in the last two years, than any other program. Coach Johnathan Snipes has seen two large senior classes move through his program in the last two seasons, meaning last season and this coming season will feature players who have not seen many reps on the varsity court. This season you will see a Lady Bucs team that will be get better game by game. Last season the Lady Bucs finished fourth in the district and were beat in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. The

Lady Bucs look to build off last season’s success and roll to another playoff appearance this season. Of the few returning players, sophomore Makenna Guillory will anchor the Lady Bucs. Guillory is coming off an impressive freshman season where she was selected ‘First Team All-District’. The Lady Bucs’ dominate outside hitter will be joined by senior setter Maci Charpiot as the most experienced returning players.

Charpiot has seen multiple seasons on the Lady Bucs varsity team. Guillory and Charpiot will carry the load while the team gets much needed experience to

prepare for a playoff run.

The Lady Bucs season is already underway, and at the time of this article being written are sitting with a 2-4 record. As a season outlook the Lady Bucs will battle with Kountze, Warren, Kirbyville, Woodville, Anahuac, Buna, and Newton for four playoff spots.

Woodville and Buna are the favorites of the district, and it seems the remaining teams will battle for the final two playoff spots. The Lady Bucs middle blockers: Rylie Gill, Kynlee Rion work to cause havoc for opponents. Along with defensive specialist: Giselle Avalos, Braeleigh

Pinson, Emma Trevino, Kailey Mills, and Payton Burleson will save points for the Lady Bucs this season. Outside Hitters: Guillory, Hailey Landry and Kaylee LeBouef will spike home plenty of points for the Lady Bucs this season. Coach Snipes is excited about his team’s season, “We’ve had a lot of turnover in the last two seasons, so many of these players have been waiting for their opportunity. They are excited and motivated to work hard to achieve our goals.” Make your way to Buccaneer Gym and catch the Lady Bucs in action this season!

Coach Russ Sutherland is optimistic on his teams’ season. “We are not as experienced as we have been in years past, but that doesn’t mean we are not as talented. This team will only get better each week, as players will get reps and experience. They are a group of hard-working kids, that have put in a lot of work this summer. We look forward to a season of growth, and find our stride when district comes.” Look for Coach Sutherland and his staff to have the Buccaneers ready to play August 26th when they open the season versus West Rusk in Jasper. An outlook on their district looks like this. East Chambers, Anahuac, Buna, Kirbyville and Woodville will lead the way for

the district. Hardin and Tarkington are predicted to play spoiler for one of the five teams predicted to fight for the four playoff spots available. This is according to multiple media district predictions. East Chambers has a tough stretch of four games from week seven to week 10: at Anahuac (Oct. 8th), vs Buna (Oct. 15th), at Kirbyville (Oct. 22nd), and vs Woodville (Oct. 29th). This is the heart of the season for the Buccaneers with their biggest games of the season in a row. Now let’s look at the players: ‘Offensively, five starters return to East Chambers’ multiple set offense in 2021. Junior quarterback Jacoby Perrault (10-3A-I Offensive MVP) returns to guide the Buccaneer offense.

team with senior fullback Cooper McKay (2nd team all-district) to shoulder the rushing load. Senior wide receiver K.K. Morris (103A-I Newcomer of the Year) and junior Dylan Winzer return to an offensive group that will also get contributions from senior wide receivers Kendal Moore and Wyatt Kash and junior wide outs Darius Green and Payton Anderson.

Senior tight ends Slade Parnell and Joshua Carter will also figure in the passing game. Senior lineman Hector Martinez will return to a line which will also feature juniors Jordan Bradley, Juan Palacios and Bryce Soileau, as well as sophomore Will Kash.

Morris returns to anchor a secondary which will also include Perrault, Anderson, Green, Wyatt Kash and Winzer.

The Buccaneers will be looking good in the kicking game as juniors Sebastian Melchor and Jesus Martinez will all be vying for place kicking duties while Melchor and Martinez will compete for the punting honors.
