East Chambers Education Foundation Hosts Prize Parties

By Wade Thibodeaux   The East Chambers Education Foundation hosted their annual prize/ grant parties last week at the different campuses around the District. The Elementary Campus led off the fun with their event on Tuesday morning , December 14, 2021, followed by the Junior High/High school combination event on Thursday afternoon, December 16, 2021. The

Primary Campus ended the fun filled week with their party on Friday morning, December 17, 2021. The event is characterized by the teachers applying for grants to provide additional experiences for the students for items that would not typically be included in the school budget. An example of this would be the Junior High receiving a grant to go to the Grand Opera House for a show and dinner in Galveston.

Other grants may be for more durable items such as a heat press and a cricut to enable the students to create shirts and costumes for fundraising. All in all, the Education Foundation awarded 22 grants this year for a total of $31,003.70. Of this $31,003.70, the Primary Campus received $8,726.15, the Elementary Campus totaled $6,850.72, the Junior High was allocated $1,560.00 and the High School was

awarded $7,839.64. Some funds were combined between campuses and the Elementary and Primary received $4,600.00, the Junior High and High School combined for $778.19 and then a grant was given District wide for $649.00. The annual event was a huge success and something that teachers and students look forward to each year.
