K9 Officer Finds Suspect

East Chambers Ends Playoff Run

The Bucs were able to celebrate early, but it soon turned into a chase as the Bumblebees from Little River Academy reeled off 28 unanswered points in the Area Round contest last Thursday.

On Thursday November 18, at approximately 8:45 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the area of the Market Basket located in the 1300 block of Hwy 124 Winnie, Texas, in reference to a stolen vehicle that was being tracked by the owner. Deputies located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle refused to stop and fled west on FM 1406 where it crashed at 6th street into a light pole. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot from the scene as deputies gave chase. A perimeter was established and Deputy Betar and his K9

partner Stark were called to assist in locating the suspect. A short time later K9 Stark located the subject hiding in a wooded area and he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as Malek Sims, 22, of Port Arthur, Texas; he was transported and booked into the Chambers County jail for the following offenses: · FAIL TO IDENTIFY FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE · EVADING ARREST DET W/VEH · UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

By Wade Thibodeaux   The East Chambers Buccaneers took on the Bumblebees from Little River Academy last Thursday, November 11, 2021 in Tomball, Texas and lost the game 42-33, ending the High School Football Playoffs for the Bucs. The game started out pretty good for the Bucs as they were able to take a 14-0 lead after the end of the first quarter because of a successful opening drive and then a short field due to an interception of the Bumblebees quarterback as he was hit while attempting to throw. Things began a slow spiral downward from there as Little River reeled off 14 straight points to tie the game and then an interception on a jump pass

as the Bucs were about to score and a subsequent march down the field for a score by the Bumblebees really took the momentum away from East Chambers as they headed into the locker room down 14-21 at the break. Little River came out of the locker room and added another score to widen their lead to two touchdowns at 28-14. East Chambers answered with two touchdowns in the third quarter, but Little River added a second score of their own in the third frame to maintain a touchdown advantage going into the final frame leading 35-27. The blocked extra point added additional pressure to the Bucs as they now needed another touchdown and a

two point conversion to tie the game. The Bumblebees quickly dampened the hopes of the Bucs fans as they added another score to take a 15 point lead at 42-27, but East Chambers was not finished as they scored as well to cut the deficit to 42-33 with the extra point attempt to reduce the contest to a one score game forthcoming, but once again the extra point attempt was no good, essentially making a victory almost impossible as two scores would be needed for a victory with time quickly expiring on the game clock. An attempted onside kick was recovered by the Bumblebees and they simply ran out the clock to seal the victory 42-33.

East Chambers had 340 yards of total offense that included 5 rushing touchdowns on 46 carries for 277 yards. The passing game was almost non-existent with only 3 completions on 7 attempts for 73 yards and 1 interception. Hadyn Reeves(#6) once again carried the load in the rushing department as he had 167 yards on 24 carries and 1 touchdown. Jacoby Perrault(#10) had 72 yards on 16 carries and 3 times across the goal line as well as going 3 for 5 in the passing department for 73 yards. KK Morris(#5) had 1 catch for 35 yards and Payton Anderson(#1) had 2 receptions for 38 yards. Congratulations Bucs on a great season.
