Lions Club Feeds First Responders

By Wade Thibodeaux  The Winnie-Stowell Lions Club showed their appreciation to area first responders this past Friday with a barbecue lunch with all the trimmings, served at the home of Stevie and Rhonda Devillier in Winnie. Police, Fire, EMT, Game Wardens and other First Responders enjoyed the meal served by the Lions Club members. “For our first event we had a target of 150 people and we

accomplished that goal!”, said Rhonda Devillier, Lions Club Treasurer. “Special thanks to Cattleman's Kitchen and friends that prepared great BBQ chicken and links.” The Lions club is the largest service organization in the world with over 1.4 million members. “We serve, and we’re always looking for new members. EC Loses Hard Fought Battle to Woodville 27-34

The team celebrates after a score against the Woodville Eagles last Friday evening in Buccaneer Stadium.

By Wade Thibodeaux   The East Chambers Buccaneers lost their only District Varsity football game this season to the Woodville Eagles last Friday, October 29, 2021 by a score of 27 to 34. East Chambers led at the end of the first quarter 13-7 and then basically doubled the score in the second frame to take a 27-13 lead into the locker room for the

halftime break. However, that would be all of the scoring for the night for the Bucs as Woodville shut out the EC offense in the second half while getting their own offense cooking. The Eagles scored twice in the third period to tie the score at 27 all and then scored one more time in the final frame to claim the victory 34-27 over the Bucs.

Hayden Reeves(#6) had 82 yards on the ground on 21 carries and Jacoby Perrault(#10) had the same yardage, but with only 3 carries. Each of them crossed the goal line once for a touchdown. KK Morris(#5) had the only other offensive score as he had 28 yards on 11 carries and the one trip into the end zone. The Bucs had 285 yards of total offense

with 220 of that coming on the ground game and 65 yards through the air. The defense got in on the fun as they scored once, but all of it wasn't enough as the Bucs took the loss and look to rebound this week as they take on the Tarkington Longhorns in Tarkington on Thursday evening, November 4, 2021 at 7:30 pm.
