  Registration for the 2020 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) National Convention is now open at www.prcaconvention. com. The National Convention – a component to the annual WranglerŽ National Finals Rodeo (NFR), is scheduled for November 30-December 3, 2020. The gathering will be hosted in two iconic buildings in Fort Worth, Texas – the Omni Fort Worth Hotel and the adjacent Fort Worth Convention Center. Visit Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Sports Commission are the presenting partners for the 2020 PRCA National Convention. “This has been a year of extraordinary change,
and we are excited with the convention we have planned,� said George Taylor, chief executive officer of the PRCA. “This convention, for many of our members, is the start of the NFR. It’s a time for us to come together, share ideas and showcase our amazing members. We will be reviewing the past season and learning and sharing best practices.� The 2020 WranglerŽ NFR is returning to its birthplace in Texas. Chambers County Sheriff's Office Investigates Cruelty to Animal
REWARD INCREASED TO $15,000 Sheriff Hawthorne reports that an additional $5000 has been donated to the reward for information that leads to the arrest and successful prosecution of the people responsible for this crime. If you have any information that would
be useful in the investigation of this crime, we encourage you to contact Detective Sean Perry at the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office at (409) 267-2500. Sheriff Brian Hawthorne is asking for the public’s assistance in reference to an incident that was reported on October 6, 2020. Deputies responded to a call in the 26900 block of IH-10 in Winnie, Texas, in reference to Cruelty to Livestock Animals. Deputies discovered someone had entered onto private property by cutting a hole in a fence and gaining access to an area that horses and other livestock are kept. Once there, the suspect or suspects, placed a rope around a horse’s
neck, possibly in an attempt to steal the horse. It is believed that the horse struggled and due to abuse by the suspect(s) and the rope being placed improperly around the horse’s neck, the horse was strangled to the point it lost consciousness and died. The rope that was used was still around the horse’s neck and mouth. An offense of this nature is a state jail felony and could be punishable by confinement in state jail for a minimum 180 days to a maximum of two years, as well as a fine not to exceed $10,000.
