Detectives Conduct Covert Operation

By Wade Thibodeaux   The East Chambers Buccaneers traveled to Anahuac to take on the Panthers last Friday evening and came away with a 24-10 victory. Both teams were evenly matched in the first quarter as the only thing that either side would produce was a field goal to make the score 3-3 at the end of the first period of play. East Chambers was able to cross the goal line during the second quarter and after a successful point after attempt, they took a 10-3 lead into the locker room for the halftime break. The third quarter was scoreless as neither team was able to put any points on the board, but the final frame saw quite a bit more action as the Panthers produced one score and the Bucs took it to the house twice to make the final 24-10. The Panthers did not make it easy on the Bucs as their defense

only allowed the EC offense 267 total yards for the evening, but the Bucs made it count when they had the opportunity. Individually, Jacoby Perrault(#10) seemed to carry the team as he had 81 yards on 16 carries and was 3 for 9 in the passing department for 53 yards and 1 rushing touchdown. Hadyn Reeves(#6) did most of the other rushing work as he had 65 yards on 17 carries and the other offensive touchdown. Josh Carter(#7) had 2 catches for 50 yards in the receiving department and KK Morris(#5) had a pick six as he intercepted a Panther pass and returned it to account for the other score. East Chambers will return home this week as they take on the Buna Cougars at Buccaneer Stadium on Friday night at 7:30 pm. Go BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that on Thursday, October 7th, 2021, Detectives with the Covert Investigations Unit and the Criminal Investigations Division conducted an undercover operation targeting online acts of prostitution. Efforts were geared towards men who solicit women for sexual acts in exchange for money. Detectives also contacted several

50 cents

females who were willing to engage in sexual acts, within Chambers County in exchange for money. Throughout the operation, three men were arrested and identified as follows: Israel Guerrero Salazar (31 year old white male) for the charges of solicitation of prostitution, Anthony Lawrence Barry (50 year old black male) for the charges of solicitation

of prostitution and unlawfully carrying a weapon, and Heber Allen Hewitt Jr. (37 year old white male) for the charges of solicitation of prostitution. Two females who arrived at the hotel were detained, identified and interviewed by case workers with Bay Area Turning Point where they were offered assistance to help safeguard from possible human trafficking incidents.

“Human trafficking has become a large problem for the state of Texas. Chambers County is not immune to any of these type incidents, especially considering that IH10 runs right through our County. Chambers County Sheriff’s Office will continue to do our part to combat human trafficking as well as keep our communities safe” said Sheriff Hawthorne.

Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that on Thursday, October 7th, 2021, at approximately 7:56 P.M., Deputies with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Patients ER in reference to a female juvenile with a possible gunshot wound to the leg. The investigation revealed that a female juvenile had been shot in the leg while at Buccaneer stadium during a sub-varsity football game between East Chambers and

Anahuac. Due to the nature of the incident and the circumstances, the student, friends, family and faculty, did not realize at first that the injury was an actual gunshot wound. Patrol Deputies, Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, and the Crime Scene Unit, responded to the hospital as well as Buccaneer stadium to look for any further evidence as well as examine the crime scene. Preliminary investigation

check and ach fraud

leads Detectives to believe that this incident is the result of a stray round fired from a distance from the south or southeast direction of the stadium. No reported gunshots were heard at the stadium or in the immediate area around the East Chambers School Campus. The victim of this incident is expected to make a full recovery from the injury. This is still an ongoing investigation and all possibilities and motives are still being considered.

If anyone has any information in reference to this incident, please call Captain Bryan Baker or Lieutenant Nick Gonzalez at the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office at 409267-2534. If information is received that leads to prosecution in this case, you may also be eligible for a cash reward by calling Crime Stoppers at (844)860-8477. “The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office will investigate this incident as thoroughly as possible. Although, it is believed that this incident is the result of careless use of a firearm, we will pursue charges on whoever is responsible for this senseless act” said Sheriff Hawthorne. An update to this report reveals that the student was back in class the following day and is expected to make a full and complete recovery.
