Boating Accident Claims Life

  Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that, on September 11, 2020 at approximately 9:49 a.m., the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a boating incident near Red Bluff Point. Investigation revealed that the boat was anchored by the stern when a passing ship’s wake caused the boat to take on water, ultimately causing the boat to sink and turn over. Crews Respond to Car Wreck

By Wade Thibodeaux   The Chambers County Emergency Services District No.1 Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 6:00 pm. in the WSVFD Fire Station located at 825 State Highway 124 in Winnie, Texas. After much perusal and discussion of the proposed budget, the Commissioners approved the $530,067.00 budget for the upcoming 2020-2021 fiscal year. The financial report showed net cash balances of $1,098,917.78 and a review of last year's budget showed a $152,000.00 surplus. The administrator's report

showed repairs and upgrades to several of the department's vehicles and Chambers County will be going out for bids next month to once again repair the driveway in front of the bays where the Fire Trucks enter and exit the building. The department reported 38 calls for assistance in the month of August 2020 and a total of 276 calls for the 2020 calendar year.
