By Wade Thibodeaux The East Chambers ISD Board of Trustees met in regular session on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 6:00 pm. in the Administration Building located at 216 Champions Loop in Winnie, Texas. Trustees got their first look at a potential bond election for the replacement of the old "L Building" on the Junior High Campus, as well as some other renovations of additional buildings including the "CTE"(Career and Technology Education) building, the Home Economics building, and the possible addition of turf to the baseball and softball fields. This potential project is in the very beginning stages with lots of moving parts and nothing definitive was decided at the meeting other than a nod of approval from the board for Superintendent Scott Campbell to move forward with gathering information. All of the projects combined are estimated in the $7.8 Million range with tax increase consequences ranging from
a low of $0.02 to a high of $0.065 depending on how it is packaged and how much fund balance is used to offset the cost. A May 2022 election is being considered and additional information will be made available to the trustees at future meetings as information is gathered. The District has a current enrollment of 1531 students and no public comments were received at the meeting. Action items approved included the 2021-2022 supplemental duty schedule, the approval of the resale of property to get it back on the tax rolls, the 2021-2022 substitute handbook, approval of the extracurricular status of the 4-H organization as well as the adjunct faculty for the organization, and approval of progress payments on current projects. The next regular meeting of the East Chambers ISD Board of Trustees will be Monday, October 11, 2021 at 6:00 pm. in the Administration Building located at 216 Champions Loop in Winnie, Texas.

H-F Wins Rice Bowl 26-14
KK Morris(#5) heads for the goal line after a catch.
By Mackensey Bailey The annual Rice Bowl was held this past Friday between the East Chambers Buccaneers and the Hamshire Fannett Longhorns. The game was played this year at Hamshire Fannett High School. Both teams gave it their all and played with great sportsmanship, but the Longhorns were victorious by a score of 26-14. The bleachers on both sides were packed
with people as well as the fences were lined around the field. East Chambers' offense had a hard time getting much going as the stingy Longhorn defense only allowed 320 total yards and the defense struggled as well with only 28 tackles for the evening. Hamshire Fannett struck first with a touchdown and extra point in the first quarter to lead 7-0 and then H-F added two more trips to the end zone and one
extra point while holding EC to a lone score in the first half to take a 20-7 lead into the locker room. The Longhorns crossed the goal line again in the third quarter to lead 26-7 and then The Bucs scored one more time in the final frame, but it was too little too late and the Horns won 26-14. Jacoby Perrault(#10) led the offense for the Bucs with 14 carries for 84 yards and 17 completions
on 25 attempts for 217 yards passing. He had 1 touchdown and 1 interception. KK Morris(#5) had 3 carries for 12 yards rushing and caught 6 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. Darius Green(#11) also had 6 catches for 62 yards. Hayden Reeves(#6) had the other touchdown and 7 carries for 18 yards rushing.
