E C I S D S e t s Ta x R a t e   The East Chambers ISD Board of Trustees met in a special session last Monday, August 23, 2021 for a public hearing on the budget and proposed tax rate as well as to set the tax rate and adopt a budget after the public hearing. The board adopted a total overall budget of $21,939,347.00 in revenue and $23,031,451.00 in expenditures. The tax rate to support this budget would be the exact same tax rate as last year of $1.218350 per $100.00 of valuation. The tax rate does have a wrinkle in it as the Maintenance and Operating tax rate last year was $1.058350 and the interest and sinking(Bond debt) tax rate was $0.16 to make a total of $1.218350 per $100.00 valuation and this year the Maintenance and Operating tax rate was reduced due to a complicated formula from the State of Texas to $0.978350 and the Interest and Sinking(Bond debt) tax rate was raised to $0.24 for a total of the exact same rate of $1.218350 per $100.00 of valuation. Part of the formula for calculating the tax rate had to do with the current appraisals in the District as last year the certified appraisal rolls showed

approximately $320,000,000.00 and this year that appraisal went up to $356,407,099.00. Due to the increase in appraisals and the District maintaining the same tax rate, patrons should expect a 7.11% tax increase. Superintendent Scott Campbell explained to the trustees that while it appeared as though the budget was about a $Million out of balance, it was actually pretty much balanced. The difference of the $Million had to do with revenue from a tax note(borrowing of money) was shown in last year's revenue and the expense of the High School renovations will occur in this year's expenditures budget, therefore balancing out over time. The only other action item on the agenda was to set the price of adult meals in the cafeteria. After a little bit of discussion, the trustees approved a price of $4.50 for lunch and $2.50 for breakfast for adults. The exactly one hour meeting was adjourned at 7:00 pm. and the next regular meeting of the East Chambers ISD Board of Trustees will be Monday, September 13, 2021 at 6:00 pm. in the Administration Building located at 216 Champions Loop in Winnie, Texas.

pads and cleats. East Chambers is just like every other school in that they have a couple of scrimmages before they play a game where they actually keep score and then the ones that really count begin with District play. East Chambers played their annual scrimmage against Kelly High School last Thursday evening in Buccaneer Stadium as their last tune up before they take on Maybe things didn't work out just exactly like it was drawn up in the locker room on this West Rusk High School in Jasper on Thursday, play during the EC-Kelly scrimmage.
