Chambers County RunOff Election Results
Terri Leo Wilson was the winner in the run-off election held on May 24, 2022. She is now the Republican Party Candidate and will face Democratic Party Candidate Keith G. Henry in the general election in November. By Wade Thibodeaux Chambers County voters took to the polls over the last several days leading up to the run-off election that was held on May
24, 2022 and with no local candidates on the Democratic Party ballot and only one race(excluding Precinct Chairs) on the local Republican Party ballot, the voter turnout was just over 10 percent. Only 3,403 voters out of 32,440 that are registered in Chambers County bothered to take the time to vote. The results, however, count the same as if it had been a large turnout and Terrii Leo Wilson handily defeated Patrick Gurski in the State Representative, District 23 race by a margin of 1,849(57.57%) to 1,363(42.43%). Wilson also won the Galveston County vote by a margin of 3,358(57.76%) to 2,456(42.24%). The two Counties comprise the 23rd District in the Texas House of Representatives and Wilson will now face Democratic (contd on page 5)

By Wade Thibodeaux The Winnie Stowell Noon Optimist Club hosted an event at the East Chambers Elementary School last Thursday afternoon, May 26, 2022. The event was the fourth of the scheduled events(Known as the C.H.I.C.K.E.N. Club) for the year and
featured the clucking and crowing contest for the fourth graders. The C.H.I.C.K.E.N. Club is an anti drug campaign that is aimed at fourth graders to bring awareness to the hazards of drugs. The Chambers County Sheriff's Office supports the efforts of the club by providing an officer to
engage the youngsters at each meeting and the Winnie Stowell Optimist Club provides support, food, drink, and prizes for each of the four meetings during the school year. The clucking and crowing contest is held to allow the 4th graders to show off their skills and a panel of three
judges work through the group to determine the best clucker(girl) and crower(boy) and award them with prizes. This year, they each received a Kindle for their efforts and hard work. This year's winners were Zanei Garza and Levi Samuel.
