reported on the Interstate and some of the other main roadways and even when vehicles were not colliding with each other, certain problems like 18 wheelers not able to get enough traction to
get over the overpass were still an issue. In addition to all of the travel issues, rolling blackouts with the electrical grid were common occurrences which caused some pretty uncomfortable
nights for residents in the area. Water became an issue as some people had turned their water off and drained their pipes, but others had left their water faucets dripping and that caused problems with Trinity Bay Conservation District maintaining water pressure due to the increased demand. Many businesses were closed due to the weather and employees not able to get to work as well as some figured it was not worth the effort because the majority of patrons would be staying home. The recent cold blast has shown that the area is really not equipped for the frigid temperatures and from the comments posted to social media sites, the cold temperatures are pretty much not welcomed either.
