EC Scores Perfect Score on Financial Rating

Buccadears Present 2022 Follies

By Wade Thibodeaux   The East Chambers ISD Board of Trustees met in regular session at 6:00 pm on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Administration Building located at 216 Champions Loop. Superintendent Scott Campbell advised the board that the District had scored 100 out of a possible 100 on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas(FIRST). This resulted in the District being given the highest rating of "Superior Achievement" Operations Director Darren Smith advised the board that the track project was finally completed and that 14 GPS units had been replaced on the Districts buses. These 14 units were out of date and would no longer work as they were 3G units and not supported by the carrier. A new app was launched for the District and it contains all of the menus for school lunches at each campus and therefore parents can log on and see what was being served to the students. Campbell noted that the current enrollment for the District was 1536 students and that the district would be receiving $500,000. in 2022 and 2023 from the County for the School Tax Equalization fund. No public comments were made during the public participation portion of the meeting and after a short executive session, the board emerged to approve the promotion of 4th year Assistant Band Director Jaren Braud to the position of Director of Bands. They also approved the promotion of Dina Bordelon to the position of Assistant Band Director. The board also approved postponing the March 2022 regular monthly meeting a week until March 21, 2022 as the scheduled meeting for the 14th of March would be during Spring Break. The next regular meeting of the East Chambers ISD Board of Trustees will be Monday, February 14, 2022 at 6:00 pm at the Administration Building located at 216 Champions Loop in Winnie, Texas.

By Wade Thibodeaux   The Board of Directors of the Winnie Stowell Emergency Medical Services met in regular session on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 7:00 pm. at the EMS Conference Room located at 249 Broadway in Winnie, Texas. One of the action items on the agenda was to approve the proposed 2022 budget. The Directors went through the presented budget of $1,083,515.71 in expenses and $1,100,000.00 in revenue and asked several questions before approving the proposed budget. The board also received a report of monthly expenses that showed $136,494.92 for

the month of November that included $84,364.18 in payroll expenses. The board also approved an agreement with the Winnie Stowell Hospital District in regards to a mutual project of having a transfer ambulance available for transferring patients from Riceland Medical Center to other medical facilities. The EMS Coordinators report showed 59 patient encounters for the month of November and that brings the total to 836 for the year. The next regular monthly meeting was Monday, January 17, 2022, but a report was not available by press time for this week's paper.

Winnie Stowell EMS Approves 2022 Budget

By Wade Thibodeaux   The East Chambers Buccadears presented the 2022 version of the annual production called "The Follies" last Monday, January 17, 2022 at the East

Chambers High School Auditorium. Students from Pre-K through their Senior year in High School participated in the show that allowed them to show off their talent and entertain the crowd.

Emcees for the evening were Kaci Bull and Emma Franzen with the stars of the production being the 2021-2022 Buccadears. Eleven dances were performed before a short intermission was

taken and then the show continued with additional performances and awards being presented. The production was directed by Sadie Atha and Kaci Bull.
