Today, the community of Port Credit gathers to celebrate our nation’s birthday. Occasions such as this one bring us together to pay tribute to the multicultural society we have built — a strong and harmonious collection of different ancestries, histories, languages and beliefs.

Personal Message from Mayor Bonnie Crombie Dear Friends, On behalf of the great City of Mississauga and Members of Council, I would like to recognize all the dedicated and tremendous volunteers and community leaders for helping to organize the 2016 Paint the Town Red Canada Day celebrations, in our beautiful waterfront community of Port Credit.

2016 marks the 149th anniversary of Confederation and our country’s founding, which is an important milestone in our nation’s proud history.

Since then, Canada has grown to become a globally-respected country that safeguards and embodies the unwavering values of peace, order and democracy - here at home - and in peace keeping efforts undertaken around the world.

Paint the Town Red Canada Day is a much anticipated and cherished event enjoyed by residents from all parts of our City, and in communities throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

As families gather in Port Credit to celebrate the birth of our nation, and to reflect on how blessed we are to call ourselves Canadians, let us also remember to show compassion to those individuals in need of additional care and support.

I encourage all residents to dedicate their time, talent and treasure toward making a positive and lasting difference in our community and country.

Once again, I offer my very best wishes to the organizers and participants who have all come together for the 2016 Paint the Town Red Canada Day celebrations!

Canada day is the time for celebration and there isn't a better place to celebrate the birth of our Nation than at Paint the Town Red in Port Credit. Every year the parade gets bigger and the fireworks brighter. Every year hundreds of dedicated community volunteers spend months preparing to welcome thousands of joyful celebrants to our picture perfect village on the Lake.

This year is promising to be the most exciting Canada Day of all beginning with the signature parade on Lakeshore Rd. ending with the giant cake at LaVilla Bakery. The party keeps rolling all day long in Memorial Park, right beside the historic Credit River; culminating with the largest, most explosive fireworks display in Mississauga.

As the Councillor for Ward 1, it is my honour to welcome you and your families to Paint the Town Red in Port Credit. I would like to thank John Bozzo and the volunteers who annually organize this amazing celebration; it is always an event to remember. Come early and get a great seat to watch from one of our famous sidewalk patios.

The Hazel McCallion Canada Day Parade Dear Friends and Neighbours, Welcome to this year’s Paint the Town Red celebration as we celebrate the birth of our Nation on Mississauga’s waterfront in the vibrant community of Port Credit. Whether you are here for the first time, a frequent visitor, or a local resident, we have a full-day of fun, food and festivities for you to enjoy.

The event begins with our famous Canada Day Parade themed #WetheNorth followed by cutting of the Nation’s largest Birthday Cake and a sing-along of O’ Canada with Mary McKay. As the day continues you can participate in programs all across the town of Port Credit. Memorial Park will feature non-stop entertainment from noon to dark with the Dunsire Kids Zone and finishing off with the largest, most explosive fireworks display in the GTA! During the day you can enjoy outdoor music at the Marina, the Lighthouse, along Lakeshore at various venues, and be sure to catch Carol McCartney performing smooth Jazz at Regency Retirement Residence.

On Saturday, June 4th, PTTR hosted a Canada Day Fundraiser at the Oasis Convention Centre. The event featured live music provided by Pauly and The Goodfellas with their set titled ‘History of Rock n’ Soul’ a special tribute to the Jersey Boys, Motown and The Village People.

The set had people up on the dance floor all night dancing away.
