Stronger As One This past summer as Debbie and I traveled through Italy, we decided to spend 3 days in Cinque Terre. Soaking in the Ligurian sun, eating fresh food from the sea and enjoying the hospitability of the locals really got me thinking about a unifying thought. And that is, as a community, we are stronger as one! Located on the Italian Riviera in the region of Liguria which is on the Northwest coast of Italy, the Cinque Terre (five lands) consist of: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. We stayed in Monterosso al Mare, the northern most of the towns.
In the 17th century, a terrible storm ruined the crops and vineyards so the villages needed help from Genoa. Once again, the villages worked in unison creating diverse delivery networks from the seat of power in Genoa to all five villages. By the middle of the 1800s, the wine market recovered, so even more vine was planted. The town of Vernazza became the main supplier of wine to the other four villages and consequently the other villages provided Vernazza with olive oil and other goods. Once again, the towns worked together as one.

Regardless if you are voting for Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Gary Johnson or Dr. Jill Stein this election, remember that we are Americans first, and we are stronger as one. King George III and The Civil War could not split us up, because as Americans, we ban together. It’s important for us to realize this and be proud about it. I know I am!
