From the Editor Spring is finally here, and with daylight savings, we now get to enjoy those extra hours of daylight!

Instantly the energy in our office has changed for the better. Since we all generally work until after 6pm, driving home while it’s still light makes the world of difference to our spirits. When there is still daylight on the way home after work, one feels there is still a chance to enjoy the evening and maybe even an opportunity to eat dinner outside – JOY! With Spring comes “Spring Break” and everyone has exciting plans. My wife and daughter are off to Hawaii to see friends next week. In fact, at Tayla’s school, the majority of the kids and their families are leaving town for the week. What an exciting time of the year!

Our kids seem to have one exciting travel adventure after the next; followed by one amazing event after the next. Sometimes one wonders what is going to excite them when they get older. That begs the question: Are we giving our kids too much these days? Are we overprotecting them? Do we tend to solve every problem for them? Do we give them everything they want and more? I’m sure, as parents, we all wonder about this from time to time.

“You don’t learn things out of books, you learn things by getting your hands dirty and making stupid mistakes.” - Peter Drucker It’s the flaws that tell the pots story and it’s your challenges and failures that tell your story. So celebrate them, embrace them, and know you are all the more valuable for having them. We need, however hard; to let our children experience what it feels like to fail. Yes, they will feel pain, shed some tears even, but know that it’s adding gold to their soul and making them stronger. Knowing how to deal with and growing from failure will add value to their lives.

It made us who we are, now let’s give them the chance to do the same. Keep planting the seeds of success I’d like to tell you the story about Kintsukuroi, and one day our kids will sprout and flourish! which means “to repair with gold” in Japanese.
