We are 6th Grade Students at Franklin Elementary School. We joined the newspaper because we have a creative mindset, and we love to write! We also wanted to be involved more in school community. We hope you enjoy our Newspaper!

Winterfest was on December 21st, 2023 at 10:00 am.

During Winterfest grades K-4 performed and sang their songs they learned. All of this was possible with the help of Mrs. Colletti.

The Winter Concert was on January 18th featuring the Advanced band, orchestra, and Chorus. Students enjoyed a morning show, and parents enjoyed an afternoon show. Great job to all performers!

We have a new staff member who joined the Franklin Family, Mr. Garandilla. Mr. G will be working with many grade levels supporting students in both Math and Literacy. Welcome to Franklin!

Why do people litter?

Littering is very bad for the earth. Littering can kill fish, birds, and a lot of other animals as well.

One of the reasons people litter is because there are not enough trash cans nearby. We can help this by asking our government to add some more trash cans. Another reason people litter is because people are just too lazy! One teacher in Franklin Elementary School said “I quit littering 15 years ago because I just do not like it.”

There are many things we can do to help including: Picking up litter if you see it, writing a letter to the mayor to ask if she can put more trash cans around town. You also can donate to an organization that cleans up litter like “Keep America Beautiful or the Clean Earth Project”. To learn more about these organizations you can visit the websites below.

The New iPhone 15, is it problematic?

By: Liliana Jean-Baptiste It's no surprise with the new Iphone 15 coming out this year. When these new phones come out everyone wants them. But is it really a good idea to get an upgrade? Some people think it's just best to stay with the phone they have now, and here’s why.

One of the reasons people would rather keep their phone is because screen burn-in. Screen burn-in is normal with OLED displays, but I don't think so. This one problem is just the Iphone 15 pro max, but most Iphone 15 users say they have screen burn-in after using their phone for 15-25 minutes. Also when they have screen burn-in it's permanent. Just imagine having a phone with permanent screen burn-in, that's just messed up.

Another problem which is like the other one is the screen freezing. Iphone 15 users have been complaining about their screen freezing. Also they claim that their screens freeze for long periods of time, like 30 or more minutes. They have to wait for their phone to die just to use it again. Some Iphone 15 users have a notification saying “home would like to send you critical messages.” If they press allow, that won't work. If they press don’t allow that won't work either.

The last reason people stay with the phones they phones now is because of overheating. When you have to update your Iphone, most people are familiar with the IOS 17 update. But when you update your Iphone 15, you might regret it. Overheating is a problem the Iphone 15 has after you update your phone, but the Iphone 15 gets so hot they can reach 100 fahrenheit. People say their phone is so hot, they can use it as a hand warmer.

Gwen and Miles are back in their own universes and they miss each other. There’s a glitch with the universe and Miles and Gwen meet again along with lots of new characters.

Throughout the movie, Miles gets chased throughout the spider-verse. Miles gets some information that makes him want to go back to his universe to save someone he loves.

Overall, the movie was exciting and had a few great twists that kept you watching!

LUCA Santiago Pineda

A sea monster child named Luca has a desire to visit the real world. His parents forbid him from visiting the real world but he rebels against his parents and goes anyway. He lands on a dock in Portrosso, Italy. Later on he meets a child about his age named Alberto who lives in a tall abandoned tower. They become friends and Alberto teaches Luca all about the human world and theye xplore the rest of Portorosso. They meet up with a girl named Giulia, who calls herself an underdog. They become a trio, and work on winning prize money so Luca and Alberto can buy a vespa to explore the whole world.

You will need: ❖ 5-10 shrimp ❖ Salt ❖ Paprika ❖ Lime ❖ Maggi Bouillon Chicken flavored 1.

Get a pot and fill it up with water. Put shrimp in the water for 10-15 minutes or until melted. Strain the water and peel the shell off.

Get a pan and melt butter and put the shrimp in the pan.

Add salt, paprika, squeezed lime, and Maggi Bouillon Chicken flavored and mix it together.

Grab a plate and put the food on the plate.

Eat your food.

An Interview With. . . Mr. M!

Our Interview Team met with Franklin’s New Art Teacher, Mr M! We asked him a series of questions, these were his answers…

Why did you become an art teacher?

“So, when I attended school I valued and admired my teachers dedication to my education and commitment so I wanted to become an art teacher for that very reason. Not only do I want to share my love of art, but I also want to motivate students to do their best work by exploring a world of creativity and inspiration.”

What’s your favorite color and what does that say about you?

“My favorite color is sky blue, and what that says about me is that I enjoy creating, imagining and innovating.”

What would you say to your younger self?

“I’d simply tell my younger self to turn any mistakes he made into masterpieces.

What is a dream you always wanted to achieve but never did?

“A dream I always achieve is to have my own solo art expedition so hopefully that will be a reality sooner than later in my life.”

If you could switch roles with another specialist, who would it be?

If would have to be Mr Meyers, I would enjoy the opportunity to introduce fun ways for students to exercise.

Did something ever get so hard that you wanted to quit? “…Quit my job, hmm, well I am not a huge fan of tests, let's put it that way. So there have been tests I’ve taken where I’ve wanted to quit, because I didn’t necessarily do as well as I’d hoped but I had to continue telling myself that I am able to pass if I were to always do my best.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

“It would have to be our former U.S. President, Barack Obama and our former First Lady Michelle Obama. I'm curious as to where they hung my artwork I presented to them a long time ago.

If you could instantly become an expert about something, what would it be?

Skydiving, I’ve already gone once, and I would like to experience jumping without supervision, so without anyone being harnessed to myself, so just to jump out of a plane solo.

What is one thing you want people to remember most about you?

One thing I want people to remember most about me is the mark I left in their lives.

What would your last meal be?

My absolute last meal would consist of smothered pork chops, pepperoni pizza, buffalo wings, chili fries and large glass of Mountain Dew!
