President’s Message

A

s you are uncomfortably aware, we are living in an unprecedented time.

COVID-19 has created an economic and medical devastation that will be difficult to climb out from. However, the fear and uncertainty we all feel will be met with an enormous resolve to lift ourselves up and move forward. Our daily lives have been upended yet Hideout residents did not throw in the towel. We faced the “enemy” and said move over, here we come.

To help our Public Safety staff and other first responders, many Hideout residents volunteered their time and talent to make face masks. Those masks were distributed to Public Safety, Food and Beverage, Hamlin Senior Center, Wayne Memorial Hospital, and others. To those residents who were on the front line, on behalf of the Board, a well-deserved thank you.

As you know the payment of dues was extended to April 30. We will utilize protocols in place for any dues issues after that date. We have many residents who have the funding to pay their dues, and it is irrelevant when they make that payment in the time frame allowed.

However, there are residents, be they full or part time, who are not working, laid off or lost their jobs. We have to work with them; otherwise we run the risk of having foreclosures. There is no question that is not good for The Hideout. Think about when you first bought property or a home in The Hideout. Was this your second home? I know it was for Judy and me.

Many of us struggled and made it work.

Let’s give the same opportunity to other residents who may not be so fortunate.

During this time of uncertainty, the POA office had to function, and through the efforts of Community Manager, Larry Frotten, that did occur. Being the President of the Board gives me the unique opportunity to observe how residents’ concerns and issues were addressed by Larry. I do not hesitate to emphatically state he was and is the right choice for that leadership position.

Some residents raised specific issues and Larry addressed them very professionally to the point that all issues/ concerns were acted upon by Larry. Most importantly, Larry has received some very positive emails from residents as he addresses their issues and concerns.

Via email I notified all Board members that we had to meet and act upon many issues. The Board met in Executive Session on March 26, April 2, and April 9, at the POA. We were 6’ apart, and no more than 9 persons were in the Board room at one time. If any Board member could not attend physically, they did call in using our bridge phone. We are living in extraordinary times and with emergency determinations being made on the state and federal level, it was absolutely proper and appropriate for those meetings to occur. Another one is planned for the beginning of May. Recently a resident experienced a medical problem, and Public Safety was notified and responded. That resident was transported to a local hospital and discharged 2 days later. I spoke to that resident, and the majority of the phone call was the resident extolling the quick response from and the competency of the Public Safety staff. That resident is very happy to live in The Hideout. I passed that on to Larry, and we both acknowledged those types of comments establish this community.

At our May Board Executive Session we will review the 50th Anniversary Committee Project, and after input from the Committee determine how to proceed.

Larry reviewed Governor Wolf’s March 19th Executive Order and determined that as it was written, the Maintenance Staff can report to work. Food and Beverage has changed it's menu by adding 2 new items and have reduced the prices. Again, give it a try. What have you got to lose?

Call the Clubhouse at (570) 698-4100, extension 150, place your order and tell them how you are paying; check or credit card. Drive to pick up your food (it is allowed), pay for food and drive home.

Simple process but rewarding when you support your community.

It is important to note that we also accept constructive criticism. If the food is not to your liking send an email to Karen Kagle, Food and Beverage Manager, expressing your concern or conversely how much you enjoyed the food and appreciate that staff’s time and effort. No scurrilous or defamatory comments.

A great big shout out to all residents for adhering to Governor Wolf’s decision about staying at home unless there is an essential need (food, medical visit, etc.)

I thank you for your commitment and responsibilities to The Hideout.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank Public Safety for all they do to keep us safe and protected.

To those residents who may have lost a loved one, friend or has a loved one/friend currently suffering from this scourge that has enveloped our country, you have my sympathy.

Community Manager’s Message

S

pring greetings everyone!

We are happy to announce that we have a new employee amongst our ranks, Heather Hopkins, who will be filling the newly created position of Facilities & Environmental Manager. Heather will be taking over the projects assigned to the Environmental Department as well as spearheading the Facilities role. Many of you who have been at The Hideout for a number of years will recall a time when there was no Environmental Department at all.

The Hideout is proudly in a position where the proper supporting staff roles are now in place for both the Facilities and Environmental functions.

Heather and her staff will ensure our many projects will continue and thereby improve our community. On the Environmental side, Heather will have our Permitting Officer, Dennis Polhamus and our Administrative Assistant, Jacob Burns assisting her with ECC related matters.

On the Facilities side, she will have the full support of the entire crew, especially Facilities Supervisor, Craig Rafanello and Administrative Assistant, Tina Fairfax.

Heather will report directly to Ryan Hill, Assistant Community Manager.

It is safe to say that this has been a most challenging time for not only our close-knit community, but for the entire world. The POA closed down its normal operations in mid-March following Governor Wolf’s directives in an effort to keep our staff and membership safe.

We have all had to adapt to these unique circumstances to try and conduct business as best as we can. The Hideout is using computer remote access by some of our employees so as to minimize the spread of COVID-19. We want to personally recognize everyone’s cooperation and understanding necessitated by the Governor’s decree.

We are hopeful you realize the required adjustment we have undertaken are for the welfare of all our members. It is our full expectation to keep serving our members as best as we can and as safely as we can.

Many of the projects we had slated for early spring have had to be put on pause. The Governor’s decree clearly defines what is allowed and not allowed throughout the commonwealth at this time. We have been spending our due diligence preparing to pick up our tabled projects for when things are allowed to resume. Many great improvements are scheduled to happen in The Hideout this season, and we look forward to delivering those enhancements for all to enjoy.

Public Safety Corner W ith the summer season soon upon us and the hopes of leaving our homes from the Governor's COVID-19 stay at home directive, I would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists that the speed limit in The Hideout is 25 mph.

During this time of year, as many of you are aware, The Hideout is a bustling place with many activities and pedestrian traffic.

Motorists are reminded that the Public Safety Department will be out strictly enforcing the community's 25 mph speed limit throughout The Hideout. There will be special attention given to the Safety Zones, due to the high pedestrian traffic in these areas. Let’s make this a safe and fun filled season for all. Please be mindful of your speed and be courteous to the pedestrians while driving in The Hideout.

All lakefront property owners are asked to insure that their docks are identified.

During times of severe storms, docks have a tendency to break loose and float away.

Many times, the Public Safety Department Boat Patrol has to respond to a member’s complaint of a dock that floated ashore on their property. If the dock is not identified

the dock has to be towed to the Marina and either tied off or pulled ashore by the Maintenance Department. In many cases, the dock may belong to the property a couple of doors down but the responding Public Safety Department Boat Patrol Officer is not able to determine where the dock came from if not marked. Members are asked to insure that their lot number is affixed to their docks for easy identification by the Public Safety Department Boat Patrol. This will also benefit the owner of the dock in that the dock can be returned, in a timelier manner, making Roamingwood Lake a safer place to enjoy summertime boating and recreational activities.

Food & Beverage Corner H oping this month finds everyone in good health and high spirits.

April has been a trying month for our country and community. The Food and Beverage department appreciates all the wonderful feedback and participation on the curbside pickup. I would like to thank our staff at the Clubhouse for your dedication and endurance through this epidemic. We will continue to follow CDC guidelines on proper sanitizing and social distancing while we are happily preparing your menu items to go. The Food and Beverage staff are truly grateful that we can come to work and serve our community. We want to send a big thank you to Marie Morales for immediately sending over her home-made masks for our staff. The outpouring of kindness and comradery has been amazing.

As we all look forward to opening our state back up, we have been busy creating new menus and cocktail offerings

for the Clubhouse and the Tiki Bar. We truly can’t wait to see you all back in our seats with smiles and new memories to be made. The Main Lodge has come along way! The floor has been completed and the walls are looking beautiful. We will be adding all the finishing touches soon and will be ready to open our doors when the time comes.

Hopefully May will bring us some good news with the corvid-19 epidemic and we will be on our way to some normalcy. We will observe Governor Wolf’s mandates for the state of Pennsylvania as they are released and with this most amazing community, we will get through this together. Cheers to good times to come.

Chairman's Message I hope that our members and staff were able to enjoy their Holiday. Happy Easter and Passover. I know that some new and innovative things were happening to celebrate.

I would like to take a minute to thank our employees that are out there on the front line. It’s difficult on the individual and their families. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

In these difficult times, we must all do our part to lessen the impact of Covid-19.

When out in public please practice social distancing. Our Governor has attempted to be ahead of the curve on this devastating virus. Please wear a mask of some kind and gloves and roperly dispose of them. If not properly disposed of, they become a possible source of contamination.

The Hideout Board of Directors and our community manage Larry Frotten and department managers have all implemented safety measures for our staff. We, the Board, will be monitoring the impact of Covid-19 on our community. We will keep our members informed via email blasts, The Hideabout and Hideabout Extra. Please do not take

any information from social media sites as the final word. Fact search for truthful information.

The events of the past few weeks may take a toll on our way of life. We all just have to do our best to move forward. Hopefully our summer events will take place. We won’t know for sure for a while. The next several weeks , will determine what direction we can go.

Please keep in mind that The Hideout is a business. The daily operation will not slow down for Covid-19. So if you haven’t paid your annual dues. Please do.

In these unusual times, please be kind to one another. Help a neighbor in need and we can all get through this awful pandemic. I pray that I will not witness another in my lifetime.

Facilities and Environmental Corner

H

ello everyone, My name is Heather and I recently joined The Hideout team serving in the capacity of the Facilities and Environmental Manager.

I bring a diverse skill set to this position having worked in land use and shoreline management for the past 15 years for multiple hydroelectric dams across Pennsylvania, Lake Wallenpaupack being one of them. My background includes vegetation management of more than 16,000 acres, management of 45 recreation areas, including 6 campgrounds, permitting for more than 2,000 property owners, as well as local, state, and federal regulatory permitting for large projects. I also have a legal background including real estate, deeds, right of ways, easements, surveys, etc. I am confident that with my background combined with a robust and skilled support staff, that we will accomplish some great things. Both the Environmental and Facilities departments play an integral part in the success of The Hideout along with you, our members, and I am pleased to be a part of it.

As COVID-19 continues to be at the forefront of everyone’s minds, I wanted to touch on how The Hideout has helped some families in need during these unprecedented times. The Hideout completed its annual deer removal effort, removing 100 deer from the community.

The decision to remove this number of deer was based on data collected from

USDA APHIS Wildlife Services in conjunction with our community’s deer management goals.

Please keep in mind that in 2015, the community voted in favor of a deer management program that included culling services.

While it is recognized that there is some adversity to this program, in 2020 The Hideout donated approximately 3,630 pounds of venison (processed by a butcher) to recognized food banks in both Wayne and Pike Counties. During this time of need, I am confident those families, likely some that have never had to ask for assistance before, are greatly appreciative of our donation. Since the program’s inception in 2015, The Hideout has donated in total more than 15,000 pounds of venison to those in need. That’s a lot of families that received meals! We are proud to have been able to do our small part in donating this meat to these families in need and at the same time, accomplishing our deer management endeavors to make the community safer for you and your families. The Hideout Garden Club is a dedicated group of men and women volunteers who are committed to making our community a more beautiful place to live! The club plants and maintains the Arboretum at the main entrance as well as other areas such as the planters at the mailboxes, North Gate, Recycling Center, Recreation Center, Nubia Malkin Art Center, and more. We have members who meet to maintain the Arboretum every Monday morning during the growing season and other members who maintain the other planters around The Hideout when it is convenient for them.

The Snapping Turtle (Chelydra serpentina)

W

atch your fingers! The common Snapping Turtle is very abundant throughout our community. This particular species is among the largest turtle that you can find in fresh water in PA. Most turtles lack long tails but the “snapper” boasts a unique long tail.

Here are some more interesting facts about the Snapping Turtle: • Turtles belong within Class Reptilia, Order Testudinata….and are among the oldest living reptiles having evolved some 200 million years ago.

• Adult snappers can reach a shell length 12” long and weigh up to 15-45 pounds depending on their diet.

• Snappers are most active starting around April as they emerge from their muddy hibernation chambers.

• Spring time is one of the most dangerous times for turtles in general as they tend to be in search of pools of water for mates, often times crossing busy roadways. Keep an eye out for turtles crossing roads and

What’s “Hiding Out” in The Hideout...

Why? Once bears locate this easy source of food, they become conditioned to favor them over more difficult to find and less calorie-laden natural foods such as plants, berries and acorns.

• Bears accessing human foods near people and their homes puts residents and their property at risk. Bears lingering near people are at a much higher risk of being killed by vehicles, shot by landowners, or destroyed as nuisances by wildlife officials.

• A bear that has accessed human foods is nearly certain to come into conflict with people sooner or later, and once bears learn to access these foods it is very difficult to change their unwanted behavior.

The most effective way to reduce human-bear conflict and protect the welfare of both people and bears is to prevent bears from ever accessing trash and other human food attractants in the first place.

• It’s that simple…and that difficult.

GOLF COURSE. The Golf Course will remain closed however members can drive to the Clubhouse, park their vehicles at the Recreation Center or Clubhouse and make use of the cart paths. Members should refrain from walking anywhere except the cart paths. No pets are allowed on the Golf Course and the cart paths. No bicycles or rollerblading will be allowed.

DOG PARK. Effective Saturday, April 25, 2020, weather permitting, the Dog Park will be opened during the hours of 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. We will have an attendant present who will monitor and enforce the rules, social distancing regulations, and the wearing of masks. The park will be limited to no more than 10 people. Only dogs with Hideout Dog Park tags will be allowed. 2019 Dog Park tags will be accepted. We ask that participants follow the guidelines and the directions of our attendant employee.

At this time indoor recreation areas must remain closed because of the need to clean with disinfectant after each use.

CONSTRUCTION: The Governor’s office has released new guidelines regarding construction activities throughout the commonwealth as now being in effect May 1, 2020.

The Hideout will share additional details in the forthcoming week on how contractors and members are able to safely resume construction-related activities in the community given our internal permitting process. Many of these businesses have been hit especially hard as more and more of their regular customers stay at home in the wake of government advisories promoting social distancing.

But small businesses are vital to local communities, and there are ways to support them and help them stay afloat as they confront the challenges posed by the COVID-19 outbreak. · Order delivery. It’s still possible to enjoy

Many restaurants that had not previously done so have begun to offer delivery services, be it curbside or at-home, and this can provide a great respite for families who have had to cook three meals a day at home for their entire families for extended periods of time.

Curbside delivery has made it possible to get takeout meals without compromising social distancing recommendations. · Purchase a gift card. Gift cards can help small businesses generate revenue at a time when their doors are largely closed to the public. This can be vital to these businesses’ survival, and it gives consumers something to look forward when life returns to normal. · Help market local businesses. Spread the word when local businesses deliver in the wake of the restrictions put on them due to COVID-19. Share these experiences via social media or online reviews, and urge your neighbors to patronize these businesses.

Local businesses are suffering during the COVID-19 outbreak. But communities can come together to support business owners and their employees to help these vital businesses stem the tide.

What to do in the Garden

T

oday is April 22, 2020, the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. I was a freshman in college 50 years ago and at that point I didn’t quite get it. There were many other national issues going on at that time; Vietnam War, assassinations of prominent Americans, Americans had landed on the moon in July, 1969, just to name a few. But Rachel Carson had written “Silent Spring” back in 1962, which had started many of us thinking about the adverse environmental effects of pesticides, specifically DDT, on both animals and humans. . Now, fifty years later, I really get it. Well, I really began to understand it a long time ago when I began paying more attention to my use (and non-use) of pesticides and fertilizers. Next was the issue of my individual carbon footprint, the amount of carbon dioxide emitted due to each person’s use of fossil fuels. During this global pandemic, it is very revealing to see how our environment is changing with so many people staying at home. The canals of Venice have become clean enough for fish and jellyfish to swim through. People in northern India can see the Himalayas for the first time in decades. Satellite maps show the lessening of air pollution above major cities. Ornithologists have noted that many birds are singing more often and with different songs.

So what does all this mean on Earth Day 2020? Well, for one thing, it shows how much of an impact humans have on our environment. It shows that many of our

behaviors and life styles could be changed and the results would be extremely positive for us and the rest of the world. But it would take a global effort, just like now with many of us staying indoors (except for those all-important essential workers), working from home, children receiving their education online, and going out only for necessities. The pandemic won’t last forever, though, so how can we continue to have a positive impact on the environment after we’re all released to the world again?

The answer often lies in our gardens.

Perhaps plant a vegetable new to you and your family; sweet potatoes, okra, or peanuts are a great place to start. You could plant a new sun-loving perennial flower variety, such as blazing star, wild indigo, or lupine. Some shade-loving perennials include foamflower, hellebore or lady’s mantle. Have you planted any pollinator plants? Good choices are bee balm, sunflowers, and milkweed. If you want to support wildlife, consider putting up a bird feeder. Songbirds are especially appreciative of treats at regularly filled bird feeders, and ruby-throated hummingbirds will be back soon. I usually put my hummingbird feeders out May 1 and before long, the birds are eagerly feeding. .These are just a few suggestions for what to do in the garden now. With some time and energy, these practices will become habits which will last a long time, habits that will help make Earth Day 2021 one in which we can all be proud. Happy Gardening!

Article IX, Sections 3, 6, 7, and 8: Financial Management Proposed Bylaw Amendments In an effort to simplify and clarify the language of Bylaws Article IX, Sections 3, 6, 7, and 8, while ensuring continued transparency and timeliness in the Financial Management process, the following changes are recommended by the Governing Documents Committee and P.O.A. Board of Directors for the benefit of the membership: SECTION 3, PRELIMINARY BUDGETS CURRENT PROVISION: Each calendar year the Association’s Community Manager shall prepare preliminary budgets, as designated below, for the next succeeding calendar year, to be presented to a Budget Committee for its review, modifications and recommendations on or by September 15th of each year; a) Annual Operating Expense Budget b) Annual Capital Expense Budget c) Annual Revenue Budget d) Annual Reserve Fund Budget The Budget Committee shall consist of not less than five (5) and not more than nine (9) members appointed by the board plus any current Board Candidates who shall be appointed to serve on said Budget Committee by the Association’s Board of Directors. The Budget Committee shall review each of the preliminary budgets as submitted and make such additions, deletions, modifications or corrections to them as it deems necessary and in the best interest of the Association, so that each of the preliminary budgets shall be available for submission to the Board, as proposed by the Budget Committee with its recommendations, if any, on or

by October 15 of each calendar year.

The proposed budgets, after submission to the Board for review, modification and approval, and prior to being adopted and accepted as final budgets by the Board, shall be published for a period of not less than thirty (30) days prior to the first day of the next succeeding calendar year to allow the members of the Association an opportunity to review same and to comment thereon, either at hearings held thereon or through such other means as the Board may determine. (As amended October 1989) (Amended March 31, 2004) SECTION 3, PRELIMINARY BUDGETS PROPOSED REVISION:

By April 1st of each year, the Community Manager shall prepare preliminary budgets, as designated below, for the next succeeding calendar year, to be presented to a Budget Committee for its review and recommendations. a) Annual Operating Expense Budget b) Annual New Capital Expense Budget c) Annual Revenue Budget d) Annual Capital Reserve Fund Budget

The Budget Committee shall consist of not less than five (5) and not more than nine (9) members appointed by the Board plus any current Board Candidates who shall be appointed to serve on said Budget Committee by the Board of Directors. REASONING: Budget development must, by its very nature, be an ongoing, dynamic process with periodic managerial assessment, input, and review during the year. Additionally, since this Section was last amended, The Hideout has enjoyed significant growth, and the current multimillion dollar budget reflects this. As such, it was recognized that the September deadline for Budget Committee review and the October deadline for submission to the Board do not allow sufficient time to accomplish the necessary work involved in the budgetary process.

Therefore, because of these constraints, the codification of the April 1st deadline for preparation of the preliminary budgets and the acceleration of the September 15th deadline to June 15th for submission to the Board reflect a more rational and workable budget process that also allows more time for Community review and input.

----------------------------------------------------SECTION 6, VARIATION FROM BUDGET - CURRENT PROVISION: A. Budget Review. Upon adoption of the budget the Board shall be bound by the same. The Board may not, over the calendar year period vary from the budget by more than 15% without following the budget procedures specified in Sections 4 and 5. Variation is defined as a 15% or greater difference from plan for the capital expense budget and for the net combined operating expense budget and the revenue budget. It shall be the responsibility of the Treasurer in conjunction with the Community Manager of the Association’s accounting personnel to make monthly reviews of actual budget performance and to

prepare on a monthly basis an annual budget projection which will project total revenue and expenses for the calendar year based on the best existing assumptions existing at the time of the forecast. It shall be the responsibility of the Treasurer to meet with the Budget Committee on a quarterly basis to review actual and projected budget performance.

As soon as practical, the Community Manager shall advise the Board and the Budget Committee if either the actual or the projected annual budget will vary greater that 15% over the calendar year.

The Board of Directors shall make such changes as the Board deems necessary to assure expenses do not exceed income for any given year. (Amended April 3, 2010) B. Prior Years Surplus/Deficit – The surplus or deficit (excluding depreciation) resulting each year from the budgeted operations, including Board directed funds, shall be identified. The Accounting firm producing the annual audited statements shall provide a separate schedule listing by department, all budgeted income and expenses versus actual income and expenses producing an annual surplus or deficit. This schedule shall be separate and included as part of the final audited financial report provided for membership distribution.

Any surplus identified will be first used to fund an Operating Contingency Fund, the balance of such fund not to exceed $200 thousand, which is to be used only for the purpose of reducing an identified deficit. Any surplus in excess of the amount needed to fund the Operating Contingency Fund, or any deficit in excess of the then existing balance in the Operating Contingency Fund, will become a line entry under the “Revenue Section” of the following years Proposed Budget.

Any surplus in excess of the amount needed to fund the Operating Contingency Fund, or any deficit in excess of the then existing balance in the Operating Contingency Fund, shall become a line entry under the “Revenue Section” of the following year’s Proposed Budget.

REASONING: Sound fiscal practice recognizes that allowing a 15% increase from the approved Capital and Operations Budgets would require a significant course correction, likely invoking special assessments and other drastic measures which the Board is loath to implement.

The tighter standard of 5% allows timely recognition of adverse developments before they become emergent or irreversible and ensures a more deliberate “hands-on” approach to our fiscal management. Other changes reflect correction of errors and redundancies, and clarify vagaries in the language of the cited sections.

------------------------------------------------ SECTION 7, AUDITING – CURRENT PROVISION: At the close of each calendar year, the books and records of the Association shall be audited by a certified public accounting firm whose report shall be prepared and certified in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Based on such reports, the Association will print and mail a copy of same to each member entitled to vote herein, or a copy of such report shall be published in the Association newspaper. In addition, the books and records herein may be inspected as prescribed in Article VIII. SECTION 7, AUDITING – PROPOSED PROVISION: At the close of each calendar year, the books and records of the Association shall be audited by a certified public accounting firm whose report shall be prepared and certified in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Based on this report, the Association shall publish a (continued on page 30)

The Proper Protocols for Memorial Day

M

emorial Day is a time for remembering the men and women, of our Armed Services, who died in the service of our country. It does not depend on which conflict it was or the service member’s race, religion or creed. They all died in the service of our country for all who benefit from their sacrifice.

When a flag detail or color guard passes by, service members in uniform should render a proper salute.

Veterans and civilians should remove hats, caps, and covers and place

their hand over their heart. A bowed head would be appropriate. A moment of silence should be observed. This is not the time for cheers, shouts or whistles. It is a memorial, not a celebration. It is a time for reflection.

Please do not thank a living veteran for his or her service. For many veterans, it is a time to remember lost brothers and sisters. Thanks should be saved for Veterans Day. Veterans Day is a celebration of the service of all veterans, living and deceased.

A

s we move through uncertain times, I hope all of our Hideout community is doing well. We are ready to move forward after this pandemic is over. The Recreation department will extend all deadlines associated with boat registrations, campgrounds, dock spaces, non-power boat racks, and anything associated with prior mentioned. When we open back up to full capacity, Fitness Center memberships will be extended for the amount of time that we are closed. We are currently in the process of coming up with a plan for summer recreational activities, once we have a better idea on the future of this pandemic we will update community members as information is received. I would like to use this platform to congratulate Assistant Recreation Manager Joseph Carolan on his new position with the FFA. Joseph is accepting a position with the FFA as an air traffic controller. Joseph is slated to start training at the end of May. He will be missed greatly and I know that he will do great things in the future.

Again as we navigate through these changing times, it is my goal to bring the best product to community members as we possibly can. With that being said, it will be a little bit of process to adjust to these times and health and safety of our employees and community member will be the first priority.

The deadline for boat registrations, dock spaces, non-power boats, and non-power boat racks will be extended until June 17, 2020. In the meantime, 2019 registrations will be accepted until June 17, 2020.

Boating - Lake/Marina Rules 1. All watercraft owners are required to register their boats and pay the appropriate fee(s) with the Hideout Recreation Department. Additionally, all owners of watercraft (20 horsepower or more) must have a minimum of $250,000 bodily injury liability insurance coverage and $50,000 property damage liability coverage. Owners of watercraft nineteen (19 horsepower) or less (not including electrically powered) must have at least $100,000 in liability insurance. Electrically propelled watercraft(s) needs a State Registration but does not require a Certificate of Insurance.

2. A Certificate of Insurance for the appropriate amount of liability coverage from the insurance company listing the Hideout POA as a coinsured party must be presented at the time of registration.

3. Personal watercraft and motors must be available for inspection accompanied by a current State Registration.

4. The maximum size for any registered watercraft cannot exceed 90 horsepower unless registered before June 1983; Personal Watercraft, i.e. Jet Skis and Wave Runners are subject to a Maximum of 110 Horsepower, Provided the PWC has a 4 Stroke Engine, Maximum Horsepower for a 2 Stroke Engine is 85 Horsepower.

5. The maximum length of watercraft permitted on Hideout lakes is seventeen (17) feet unless registered before June of 1983.

6. All lake activities must comply with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. For a complete listing of PA Fish and Boat Commission Safety Rules and Regulations contact Northeast Region office at (570) 477-5717.

7. All power watercraft must travel in a counter-clockwise direction.

8. Double water skiing (including towing of two skiers/two tubes) is prohibited on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays.

9. The PA Fish and Boat Commission regulated the minimum age of all watercraft/PWC operators. No person 11 years of age or younger may operate a watercraft/PWC propelled by a motor greater than 10 horsepower. No person 12 to 15 years of age may operate a watercraft/ PWC propelled by a motor greater than 10 horsepower without obtaining a Boating Safety Certificate, a copy of which must be on file at the Hideout Recreation Department. Furthermore, anyone 12 to 15 years of age may not operate a PWC with any passengers on board 15 years of age or younger.

10. All persons in a watercraft must be seated while in operation.

11. Launching and landing of water skiers from docks or shoreline is prohibited.

12. All power watercraft must observe the one hundred (100) foot minimum swell speed regulations when operating near all regulating buoys.

THE HIDEABOUT NEWSPAPER 13. Water skiers directly ahead of or behind another boat are prohibited.

14. Each water skier (including tubers) must wear U.S. Coast Guard approved personal flotation devices.

15. When water skiing or tubing, there must be one observer facing (spotting) the skier or tuber at all times.

16. Water skiing and/or use of personal watercraft(s) (PWC’s) is prohibited before 8:00 a.m. and after sunset or when visibility becomes poor.

17. All boating activity must cease on any lake during electrical storms or conditions that may result in personal injury.

18. All watercraft must be equipped with U.S. Coast Guard approved wearable personal flotation devices for each person on board.

19. Placing of buoys in Roamingwood Lake is prohibited except when authorized by Association management.

20. Inflatable rubber rafts, without attached motors, are to remain within one hundred (100) feet of the shoreline if they are approved to carry only two or fewer occupants. Rubber rafts approved for three (3) or more occupants may go beyond this limit and must be registered as a nonpower boat with the Recreation Department.

21. Main Lodge docking facilities are reserved for all watercraft; these facilities are intended for temporary use only and are restricted to 30 minutes per watercraft.

22. All users of sailboats must maintain a proper lookout at all times.

23. Rowboats with or without motors are not to occupy marina dock slips.

24. Motorized vehicles are not permitted on frozen lakes at any time.

25. Guests are not permitted to register any type of power watercraft for use on any Hideout Lake.

26. Deerfield and Brooks Lakes are reserved for fishing and nonpowered boating. Electrically trolling motors are permitted.

27. An immediate fine of $500.00 and the potential suspension of lake privileges will be assessed for the following infractions (Amended by the POA Board/1998):

• Operating a watercraft on any lake which is in excess of established horsepower and length regulations on any lake;

• Misrepresentation of documents required for registration of watercraft.

28. Marina space renters failing to remove their watercraft by designated date shall be subject to a fine plus costs to remove and all subsequent costs incurred. This violation may result in suspension of future dock use.

29. Washing of watercraft in launching areas, beaches, and lakes is prohibited.

30. Watercraft may not be anchored within 100 feet of any roped swimming area or park areas.

31. A moving watercraft shall not overtake or pass another watercraft within the 100-foot swell rule.

32. Personal watercraft operators must possess a Boating Safety Education Certificate pursuant to PA Commonwealth Statute, effective January 1, 2000. The Statute provides for a $50.00 fine for the first offense and a $100.00 fine for each subsequent violation of the Fish & Boat Commission Regulations. (Amended by the POA Board, April 29, 2000) 33. A mandatory fine of $250.00 for the first offense and $500.00 for the second offense will be assessed to anyone who has not successfully completed the Boater Safety Education Course regarding the operation of PWC. 34. A mandatory fine of $50.00 for the first offense and $100.00 for the second offense for anyone who fails to possess a Boating Safety Certificate while operating a PWC. 35. A mandatory fine of $500.00 will be assessed to anyone who operates a watercraft in a reckless manner. In addition, the Board reserves the right to suspend the Lake and Marina privileges of said violator.

36. Everyone fishing must display a current Membership Badge along with his or her Pennsylvania Fishing License (required of all persons 16 years of age and older). Violators are subject to fines by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission as well as the POA. 37. Roamingwood Park: Open fishery to harvest fish per Pennsylvania State Fish and Boat Commission Regulations but recommend catch and release. Follow state guidelines with the following exceptions: Exceptions: Use of Alewife and Golden Shiners for bait are prohibited Bass - Cut state limits in half. Therefore: Jan 1 - Apr 17 and Nov 1 - Dec 31: 15’, 2 (combined species) Apr 18 - Jun 12: NO HARVEST Jun 13 - Oct 31: 12’, 3 (combined species) Walleye - NO HARVEST (year round) No harvesting of Walleye or Grass Carp. Reasoning: Last January’s Article X, Section 5e Bylaw Referendum was printed and mailed with an important Bylaw date change being accidentally omitted. This referendum is meant to correct the omission. By setting the deadline of May 15 ensures that a candidate(s), who runs by petition, is given the same opportunities to campaign as other Nominating Committee candidates. The May 15th deadline gives the Association Secretary ample time to validate the 50 signatures required.

This will allow the petition candidate to have their biographical and campaign information submitted in time for publication in the July and August Hideabout with all other candidates. Also, this deadline gives a petition candidate the opportunity to start participating in various meet and greets that may be organized by the Nominating Committee.

38. Fellow members for various recreation activities share the lakes in The Hideout. It is essential that all who fish clean up their sites before they leave. Litter, including bait containers, fishing line and plastic and paper wrappers are unsightly and a potential danger to our wildlife friends.

39. Members are urged to use extreme caution while fishing from rowboats or canoes. Coast Guard Approved Personal Flotation Devices are required for each occupant on all types of watercraft on all waters in the State. Any boats using a motor must be registered with the PA Fish Commission. All boats used on any waters in The Hideout must be registered with the Recreation Department and display the current year’s registration sticker.

40. Ice Fishing is not permitted on any of the Hideout Lakes.

41. Dock spaces involve a waiting list for members that, once selected, dock space remains with the member in good standing each year, contingent upon payment of the yearly season rental fee.

CAUTION: ALL FUELING AND RE-FUELING OF WATERCRAFTS MUST COMPLY WITH BOATER SAFETY HANDBOOK WITH REGARD TO VENTILATION AND FUELING. *****NOTICE***** Effective September 28, 2013 – At the Executive Session of the Board of Directors the Board passed the following resolution to improve our lake water quality as well as boating safety on Roamingwood Lake. The motion reads as follows: To decrease both the noise on and oil pollutions in Roamingwood Lake, Effective January 1st 2014 all new gas powered boats being registered for the first time in the Hideout must be equipped with FOUR STROKE MOTORS. The maximum horse power remains at 90hp! The boat length restriction will remain at 17 foot, but will no longer be measured by the Recreation Department.

Also, to eliminate concerns and confusion on how a boats length will be measured before it can be registered in the Hideout, effective January 1st 2014 all new boats being registered in the Hideout for the first time must present official documentation (copy of title or registration) from the State in which the boat is registered that shows that the boat’s length does not exceed 17 feet. ****Used boats owned by a Hideout Property owner and were previously registered for Roamingwood Lake and are sold to another Hideout Property owner for use on Roamingwood Lake will be considered “grandfathered” and will be exempt from the Four Stroke Motor only restriction.

PEDESTRIAN SAFETY

To stay safe walking, follow these rules of the road: 1. Walk Facing Traffic When Walking on the Side of the Road If there is no sidewalk and you must walk on the side of the road, choose the side where you are facing oncoming traffic. In North America, this is the left side of the road. This gives you the best chance to see traffic approaching closest to you and take evasive action when needed.

2. Walk Single File When Not Separated from the Road Unless you are on a sidewalk separated from the road or you are in a wide bike/ pedestrian lane, you should walk in single file. This is especially important on a road with lots of curves and where traffic has only a split second chance of seeing you before hitting you. While it can be enjoyable to walk down the road two to three abreast chatting merrily, drivers don’t expect it and you may lose your best walking buddies.

3. Stay Aware of Bikes and Runners Share the road and path with bikes and runners. Bike riders should alert you when approaching from behind with a bike bell or a “passing on the left/right.” Listen for them, and move to walk single file, allowing them to pass safely. Runners should also call out for passing. Bike-walker collisions can result in broken bones or head injury for either—and you aren’t wearing a helmet.

4. Be Visible Wear bright colors when walking. When walking at night, wear reflective clothing or a reflective vest to be visible. Drivers are often not expecting walkers to be out after dark, and you need to give them every chance to see you. Be just as cautious at dawn or twilight, as drivers still have limited visibility or may even have the setting or rising sun directly in their eyes.

5. Be Predictable Make a practice of staying on one side of the path while walking rather than weaving randomly from side to side. Watch your arm motions, or you may end up giving a black eye to a passing walker, runner, or biker.

6. Keep the Volume Down Don’t drown out your environment when listening to music with your earbuds or headphones. Keep the volume at a level where you can still hear bike bells and warnings from other walkers and runners.

7. Hang Up and Eyes Up Distracted walking due to chatting, texting, or playing games on a mobile device while you walk is as dangerous as doing those things while driving. You are distracted and not as aware of your environment. You are less likely to recognize traffic danger, tripping hazards, or passing joggers and bikers. Adopt habits that can keep your phone in your pocket, or at least make it a practice to stop in a safe place to complete your phone tasks before moving on.

8. Walk Dogs on Short Leashes It is terrifying and tragic to witness dogs running out in to traffic or getting into a fatal dog fight, whether on leash or off leash. But when walking your dog on a long leash there is also a danger that you will trip other walkers or bikers. You will keep your dog safer as well as those who pass by you if you use proper leash walking etiquette.

9. Know When to Stop Walking Heat sickness, dehydration, heart attack, or stroke can strike walkers of any age.

Learn the symptoms of medical emergencies and carry a cell phone to dial 911.

Even if you are a seasoned and well-trained walker, you may experience one of these problems and need to cut your walk short. Encourage your walking friends to stop when they show any concerning symptoms.

10. Be Aware of Stranger Danger Street safety is a concern for many walkers. Choose your walking route for paths frequented by other walkers, joggers, and bikers. If you see someone suspicious, be prepared to alter your course or go into a store or public building to avoid them.

Acting alert and aware can convince bad guys you are not an easy target.

FINDING GUIDANCE DURING A DIFFICULT TIME IS COMFORTING.

ommittees are an important part of our association operations. Committee members help keep our community vibrant; and, by augmenting paid staff, they save the association thousands of dollars each year.

The association just wouldn’t be what it is without our active and effective committees. They deserve our sincerest thanks. However, to be successful, our association needs to cultivate fresh ideas and encourage additional resident involvement in our committees; so, we’d like your help on one of our committees.

Committees give the Board a way to gather information, offer new ideas and opinions and provide a training ground for future Board members. All committees are advisory to the Board unless given specific decision-making authority by the Board or our Governing Documents. Each committee has a goal and mission statement to help it succeed as a community resource.

Our association has three types of committees: • Board appointed committees, like our ECC, Disciplinary, Budget and Nominating, are established by the Board for a specific purpose under the supervision of the Board. These are required by our Protective Covenants or

By Laws. They often have clearly defined power and authority.

Appointments are made for a three year term; however, there are no term limits as to how many terms someone may serve.

• Standing committees, such as Food and Beverage and Recreation, are ongoing and have members who have expertise with a specific area within our community.

These committees generally make recommendations to the Board pertaining to the specific area.

• Ad-hoc committees, such as Governing Documents, are established by the Board as needed for specific projects and tasks. When the task is complete, the committee is disbanded.

W

ho would have ever expected the current situation we find ourselves in? I’m writing this article on April 15th.

There is no projected opening date for the Golf Course and Pro Shop. The following decisions have been made in regards to the golf season. The Early Bird Tournament has been cancelled.

The men’s Thursday night league start date has been pushed back to a date yet to be determined.

Decisions on all other leagues and tournaments have yet to be made as of this writing.

When we do open, golf fees will remain the same as they were in 2019. There have been no increases in over 10 years. Ten play cards for green fees and carts will still be available in the Pro Shop. You pay for nine rounds of golf and receive the tenth one free.

Same goes with the golf cart cards.

The golf tournament rates for most events will increase next year by $5.00. For most tournaments, the cost for a golf pass holder will be $60.00, members will be $70.00, and guests will be $80.00.

This is largely in part to increased food costs. We have not raised tournament cost in over 8 years.

Even with the rate increase you get a great bang for your buck.

Here is a tentative list of the golf leagues for the 2020 season.

HWGA- Hideout Women’s Golf Association plays on Monday mornings at 9:00 a.m. from the first Monday in June and finishing around Labor Day. TMML- Tuesday Morning Men’s league begins the Tuesday before Memorial Day and finishes around Labor Day. Start time is 9:00 a.m.

TNML- Thursday Night Men’s League will begin at a date yet to be determined and ends around Labor Day. This league starts at 5:30 p.m.

HASG- Hideout Adult Social Group starts in early June and finishes around Labor Day. Start time 10:00 a.m.

All of the leagues are open to golfers of all ability levels. Our goal is to meet new friends and neighbors and have fun.

As soon as we are able to get back on the course I’m sure there will be restrictions as to the way we conduct business operations. Talks are still ongoing.

By: John Martino Well, last year we had all that rain and we thought this year had to be better! Along came the Pandemic. At the time of this writing (April 10th), we are hunkering down in Florida and praying for everyone to stay safe. We miss our Hideout and all our friends and will return to NEPA as soon as we get the word it is safe.

Anyway, if the good Lord does see us in his mercy and we get back to “normal”, we will have a golf league. At this point in time, it seems like such an insignificant item in our lives but hopefully life as we knew it will return.

Since Audrey and I are still in Florida and will remain for a while, Bill Wagner (570-878-4677) and Rich Maxwell (631-830-2140) have volunteered to begin taking names of all those who are interested in playing in the league this year. Dorothy Bush Cassidy Wangberg Dorothy Bush Cassidy Wangberg, 102, of Lake Ariel, passed away peacefully at home in Lake Ariel, PA surrounded by loving family, on April 20, 2020.

Dorothy first graced this earth on January 10, 1918, born to George Bush and Grace (Anderson) Bush in Jersey City, NJ. She attended Lincoln High School graduating in 1936. She worked for many years as a travel agent for Turturro Travel in Jersey City, Farrington Travel, Waterbury, CT, and Regal Tours, Cranford, NJ. She traveled the world and went on dozens of cruises, each one its own “Bon Voyage”.

She was a devout Catholic, actively involved in the parishes of her life; St. Patrick’s, Jersey City, St. Thomas, Waterbury, CT, St. Michael’s, Cranford, and St. Thomas More, Lake Ariel, PA. Her many talents included dressmaking, costume design, upholstering, woodworking, interior and exterior painting, interior decorating, gardening, cooking (chop-chop) and baking, poetry and theater. Her biggest love was spending time with her large, extended family. She was the life of the party, the “Boss of the Beds”, she lit up the room with her presence and was found at the center of every wedding dance floor.

Throughout her life she added new friends to her ever-expanding family circle, up to and including those she befriended during her recent stay at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility. There wasn’t a person she met who didn’t walk away loving her.

Dorothy didn’t let age slow her down. In her 80’s she played Queen Victoria at Lacawac Sanctuary’s Victorian-themed garden parties and the lead at a Hawley’s Ritz Theater Christmas play. She volunteered at Western Wayne’s Hamlin and Lake Elementary Schools providing students with encouragement and skill practice. She was so inspired by the movie “UP” that at age 93 she bought a pontoon boat, named it her “Spirit of Adventure” and captained it around Lake Roamingwood every summer.

She traveled to New Jersey, Philadelphia and Maine to celebrate her grandchildren and great-grandchildren until age 101. And through it all, until her last breath, her hair and nails were flawless, her clothes beautifully coordinated, and outfit fashionably accessorized with colorful scarf, dangling earrings, bejeweled necklaces and beaded bracelets.

She was preceded in death by husband of 50 years, Joseph Cassidy; husband of 16 years, Franklin Wangberg; and beloved son David Alexander Cassidy, as well as siblings Grace Maguire (Joseph); Francis Bush (Evelyn); and George Bush (Anne). She is survived by daughters, Catherine Cassidy (Kent Fairfield), Maplewood, NJ; Susan Pignatello and Grace Clauss (Patrick) Lake Ariel, PA; son, Joseph Cassidy (Paula), Cranford, NJ; and niece (as close to a daughter as you can get), Ruthanne Griffin (Robert), Cranford, NJ. She is also survived by step-children from her second marriage, Susan Martin (Robert), Monroe, WA; Christopher Wangberg (Terry), Malad City, ID; Laura Denenberg (Irve), Fort Collins, CO; Mark Wangberg and Sally Newton.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Kirsten, Kent David, Sean, Juliet, David, Joseph, Kevin, Patrick, Fiona, Teresa, GraceAnne, Veronica, Dorothy, Jenevieve, Alexandra and Joseph, Michelle, Kyle, Catherine, Samantha, Amanda, Jon, Kelly, Nick, Rachel and Megan, 29 great-grandchildren, and so many dear nieces and nephews.

The family extends special thanks to the staff and residents at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility for their outstanding love and compassion, treating Dorothy as if she were their own mother, and to Greg Palmer, inspirational entertainer, who kept mom’s spirit buoyant through his love, faith and song. We are grateful for the support at Allied Hospice which made it possible for her to spend her final days at home with family.

We will miss her presence in our lives, but she will remain forever in our hearts.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life and faith will be held at a future date.

Frank Santulli, 72, of Lake Ariel, died Sunday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton following an illness. His loving wife of 52 years is the former Debra Robinson.

Born May 20, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of the late James and Diana Sclafani Santulli. He was a graduate of East New York High School. Prior to retirement, he was employed by National Grid as a mechanic. He was a member of St. Thomas More / St. Mary’s Parish Community where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was as a member of the Lake Ariel Volunteer Fire Company where he served on the Board of Trustees and a former member of the Selden Fire Department & District on Long Island, NY. Frank was a Retired United States Air Force Veteran.

Also surviving are daughters Jeanne, Fran, Cindy, Kelly, Rose, Tina, Sara, Diana, Mary, Elizabeth, and Emily; sons Joseph and John; a sister Angela; brothers Anthony and Paul; 25 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Private cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.

Due to the current health crisis, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Hideout Building Permit is required for the installation/operation of any “non-portable” residential whole house/ stand-by electrical generator. Small portable units are excluded. A separate permit is required if you need to install a propane tank to fuel the generator.

REAL ESTATE Knock, Knock

our front door is the number one item with the largest return on investment when considering which upgrades you can perform to help increase the value of your home and attract buyers. Here’s how to leverage it for maximum impact: 1) Paint the door with an appropriate, fresh, contrasting color. Not only will this draw the eye (possibly even away from the crack in the driveway!), but it will go a long way to creating the impression of a new paint job.

2) Replace knob/handle and lock hardware. The feel of the doorknob, the click of the hardware, and the sense of security the door conveys matters hugely.

It’s a front-line sensory experience for potential buyers. A sticky, weak, degraded

set of locks only hurts your first impression.

Remember, the prospective buyer is standing right behind your real estate agent while they struggle with a bad lock.

3) Upgrade the door, if possible.

Sometimes paint and hardware won’t do the trick. If you have an older home or in a neighborhood where many of the same styles of door were used, this could be a good time to differentiate your home while upgrading the aesthetic.

She spent many a Sunday in her youth riding up to Lake Wallenpaupack with her family and enjoying all the natural playgrounds our area has to offer including swimming, boating, hiking and skiing!

She’s an avid gardener and still to this day enjoys spending time on the lake boating with her family and traveling to Florida for the occasional winter break.

For several years, Daryl lived in California and upon her move back to Pennsylvania, she found herself blissfully married, living in the local community Wallenpaupack Lake Estates and stepmother to three!

Daryl has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and has been previously employed as a substitute teacher in many of the local schools until earning her real estate license in 2005 and joining CENTURY 21 Select Group.

Daryl is a resident and homeowner here in The Hideout.

Leo was born & raised right here in Northeastern PA & always loved the rolling hills & serene lakes of the Poconos.

After graduation from the University of Scranton in 1974, Leo joined his family business, Lake Genero, in Salem Township. He earned his real estate license in 1982, working as a sales agent & manager selling new home construction. An opportunity arose & he switched careers to a national alumni directory company where he met his wife, Sharon, (a respected teacher at Western Wayne), and they had two beautiful girls (both WW grads). Leo always knew that real estate was his first calling & returned to that career in 2007. After careful consideration, he chose CENTURY 21 Select Group because of the great team of agents & their exemplary reputation for quality service. Leo fit right in! He is so happy to help others experience the lifestyle he has enjoyed his entire life.

HIDEOUT SPORTSMAN’S ASSOCIATION

Since 1995, the Hideout Sportsman’s Association has strived to improve the knowledge and skill of its members and neighbors in matters related to the proper care and handling of firearms, the management of shooting ranges and to develop fellowship, sportsmanship and good citizenship among its members. To that end, the Hideout Sportsman’s Association will partner with a local state-of-the-art indoor shooting range to offer courses in basic beginners pistol shooting and safety classes.

These courses and others will be offered through the Hideout Sportsmen’s Assoc. for a limited time. Interested individuals should contact Lyle at (570) 647-6270 for details.

Important Information You Should Know THE SPEED LIMIT IN THE HIDEOUT IS

25 MPH In the designated Safety Zones fines are doubled. Please watch for our pedestrians. We have many children and adults that will be out riding bicycles and walking dogs. Please observe all signs and association rules for the safety of our members.

ATTENTION MEMBERS When your guests come to visit, please make sure that they know your lot number when registering at the gate. This will expedite entrance into the community.

HAVE GUESTS COMING TO THE HIDEOUT FOR A VISIT? You can register your guest online or using your mobile device including Apple, Android and Blackberry. To register please visit the Hideout website http://www.hideoutassoc.com and click on “On-line Guest Registration” to fill out the form. Once signed up, you will receive an email with directions.

LAKEVIEW AND WOODPOINT COURT A dangerous condition arises on busy weekends from vehicles parking on the side of the road on Lakeview and Woodpoint Court. Vehicles parked on the side of the road in this location impede traffic and could possibly block access to the area by emergency vehicles. Due to this condition the Board has passed a motion deeming Lakeview and Woodpoint Court “Emergency Access Roads.”

No parking will be permitted on the side of the road in this area. The Public Safety Department will aggressively enforce this rule. Anyone who parks in this location will be subject to a $125.00 fine and a $250.00 fine for repeat offenses.

AMENITY BADGES All Hideout Members must have a current Amenity Badge on their person in order to use any of the Hideout’s Amenities. Guests must also show their guest badges at all times. There are no exceptions to this rule!!!

SOCIAL MEMBERSHIP CARDS All members and their guests must have their Amenity Badges at all times throughout the community. In order to use our food & beverage licensed facilities, you must either be with a member or have the member purchase a social membership card for you. Social Membership cards are available at the Clubhouse.

The Hideout Adult Social Group (HASG) is expanding our recently-formed Good Neighbors Club. We are pleased to coordinate the following Good Neighbors Club services to all members of the Hideout Community: 1. Many of us own wheelchairs, walkers and other medical equipment that we are not currently using. Others are in need of some of this equipment for a period of time. The HASG is compiling a list of such equipment.

The intent is to have a central contact point where those in need can inquire about who may have the equipment they need and be willing to loan it to a fellow Hideout member. If you possess such equipment and are willing to help out by lending it to a Hideout neighbor, or if you are in need of same, please contact Louise Brevet, Chairperson at (570) 698-5102, or Judy Restaino, Co-Chair at (570) 698-9840.
