The Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic is back after a one-year hiatus due to coronavirus pandemic uncertainties, and its eight-team field could be one of the strongest overall in the tournament’s 12-year history.
Joining host Hawaiʻi at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, Hawai‘i are BYU, Liberty, Northern Iowa, South Florida, Stanford, Vanderbilt, and Wyoming. Five in the field were in the top 50 of 350 Division I teams in field-goal percentage defense as of Dec. 4 this year, and four were among the top 50 in fewest points allowed.
