Roughly 50 Harvard students called for Harvard University Police Department Chief Francis D. “Bud” Riley to resign at a rally in front of the John Harvard Statue Saturday afternoon. A week before the protest, The Crimson published an investigation into Harvard’s police force that found repeated instances of racism and sexism in the department over the span of nearly three decades. In other news, Harvard School of Public Health professor Michael J. Grusby will step down from the three top administrative posts he holds at the school this month, Dean Michelle A. Williams announced in an email to School of Public Health affiliates Friday.

After Ambiguous Iowa Caucus Results, New Hampshire Voters Confused Ahead of Democratic Primary Since the Iowa caucus revealed no clear frontrunner in the race for the Democratic nomination, about half of New Hampshire voters remain confused about who they want to vote for in their Tuesday primary. Former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Peter P. M. Buttigieg ’04 and United States Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) essentially tied in the Iowa caucus and are leading neck-and-neck in New Hampshire polls.
Coronavirus Death Toll Rises, Partly Due to Complete Quarantine of Wuhan Province While the Chinese government has isolated most cases of coronavirus in Wuhan through quarantine measures, the health facilities available within the province are insufficient, with many forced to stay at home as hospitals fill. The worldwide death toll hovers around 810, with the highest daily toll so far of 89 on Saturday.
Strong Winds Shorten NYC-London Flight Time to Record Time of Under 5 Hours In the midst of Storm Ciara, a British Airways aircraft has made the record for a conventional flight from New York to London by making the journey in the record-time 4 hours and 56 minutes, on a segment that usually takes 7 hours.

UPENN In light of the coronavirus outbreak, Penn Global — which provides strategic direction for the University of Pennsylvania’s global endeavors — will move two research and internship program cohorts from China to Seoul, South Korea, the Daily Pennsylvanian reported Sunday. The University of Pennsylvania has also cancelled all spring semester study abroad programs in China. Penn Global has yet to find alternative locations for students accepted to direct placement programs, which places students in internships at specific companies.
COLUMBIA Columbia University President Lee C. Bollinger urged students to collaborate with the university’s Advisory Committee on Socially Responsible Investing in regard to fossil fuel divestment in his semesterly Fireside Chat Thursday, the Columbia Daily Spectator reported Friday. His comments came in response to student groups’ demands and repeated demonstrations for divestment. One group, Sunrise Columbia, released a video campaign entitled “#NobodyWins” in collaboration with 17 other universities last December, in which they called for fossil fuel divestment.
YALE Yale University President Peter Salovey awarded University President Lawrence S. Bacow the Legend in Leadership Award at the fifth annual Yale Higher Education Leadership Summit on Jan. 29, the Yale Daily News reported Friday. The presidents of Wellesley College, New York University, and Dartmouth College joined Salovey in presenting Bacow the award, which is given to chief operating officers that have made significant contributions to their organizations.
