Sarah joined Gilda’s Club Westchester in 2020 in her previous roles as Oncology Social Work Manager and Program Director. Sarah graduated with a Bachelor’s in Education from Seton Hall University, with plans to become a teacher. While working with underserved youth in her student teaching placement, she found her passion for social work. From there, she pursued her Masters of Social Work from Rutgers University. She began her career as a clinician, and then became a Clinical Supervisor. After working in community mental health and fee-for-service agencies, Sarah was drawn to the mission of GCW and the opportunity to provide free social and emotional support services, bringing her back to why she initially wanted to pursue a career in social work.
Sarah envisions a bright future for GCW. She is excited to continue the amazing work that the organization has been known for over 20 years. Sarah would like to expand our reach, and get more of the community aware of and involved in what we do. Sarah stated, “We know that cancer impacts 3-out-of-4 families. I believe that GCW has the ability to reach a wider range of individuals; we have the ability to touch so many lives.” Sarah believes that GCW is a “hidden gem” in the greater Westchester community.
