VOLUNTEER

MANY THANKS

Volunteer Appreciation

Harker News — May 05

As the school year begins to wind down, we pause to reflect on the astounding successes we have achieved and the fun we have generated in the process. So many of the activities, programs, resources and special events that Harker students and their families enjoy would not happen without the concerted effort of generous parent volunteers. It is with great pleasure and sincere gratitude that we acknowledge the many volunteers who have served in so many different ways during the 2004-05 academic year. As we go to press, volunteers have already given over 9,000 hours in service to the school, and this represents the help of over 400 Harker volunteer families. We ask our volunteers to help us record volunteer hours by signing in and out whenever they have been working on campus, but, regrettably, we know that there are many behind-thescenes helpers whose labor slips under our “radar,” who forget to report time spent on campus and off, or who prefer to donate their time and talents without fanfare. There are still a number of events which will happen between now and the closing days of the 2004-05 academic year, so we know that there are heroes yet to come whose energy and enthusiasm will deserve our praise and appreciation. We apologize most sincerely for any names we have inadvertently missed in this report. Keeping track of such an extensive cadre of active volunteers sometimes challenges our ability to count all noses and to spell names without occasional glitches, so for any omissions or misspellings, we apologize in advance. We believe that this annual volunteer report demonstrates in yet another significant way how our Harker community responds with so much love and support for our students, helps us meet their needs and expands their horizons even further, and underscores the spirit of friendship and service to others which abounds at The Harker School. —Nancy Reiley Director of Community Relations
