10 tips for a successful show
Sean McLoughney, the Talent Support Specialist, and successful author and keynote speaker, gives exhibitors a top 10 checklist for exhibiting at The Hardware Show. These are ten practical suggestions to help you leave a lasting impression on everyone who visits your stand.
1. More than just a Show
Think Before, During and After. Success for you is built around what you do beforehand, during the show and critically what you do afterwards.
Before: send out your last batch of invitations to key people During: attract and then engage professionally with everyone who visits your stand
After: capitalise on the contacts made during the show
2. Clarity around the purpose
Everyone on the same page - Ensure everyone on your team is clear about the reason why you are exhibiting at the show and what you want to achieve. Everything you do should be aligned with your purpose.
3. What is the plan
Plan the work involved and then work the plan. Explain clearly everyone’s role at the show and why their role is important.
4. What are your Key Numbers
Clearly outline what you hope to achieve. Identify what success looks like and use metrics to measure it. If you are looking for leads, then put a figure on it - 100 leads for the team.
5. Focus on Team Readiness
Plan your pre-Show Meetings, set a date now. Create an agenda to answer some questions. Does everyone on the team know your key numbers and how they will impact these numbers. Have you ordered your lead retrieval device? Have you devised a picture-perfect checklist for your stand. Prepare your team for success.
Social Media at The Hardware Show

6. Ladder of Loyalty
What is a customer centric approach for your company? Remind your team about your approach. Do you want a customer, a client or an advocate? What is a good, better and best experience for individuals visiting your stand?
7. Enhance your Brand
The show is a great opportunity to promote your brand and drive people to your organisation. It should help with differentiating you from your competition. Remind your team that they are brand ambassadors throughout the show, even when they aren’t at the stand.
8. Communication
Use all opportunities to communicate your message. Engage with social media. Ensure you have a consistent message that is linked to your purpose.
9. After the Show
Rank your prospects, ensure you have all your follow up material ready to go on Tuesday the 17th. This is another opportunity to get in touch with key people you didn’t meet at the show. Use your CRM system to track your prospects over the next 3, 6, and 9 months.
10. Debrief while its still fresh in your mind Don`t wait until the next time around. Set a time for this meeting during the week after the show. Discuss what you have you learnt. What worked or didn’t work? What did you learn from your market research?

Driving
Parking in the RDS is usually paid, however the Hardware Association Ireland have removed this cost and are delighted to offer complimentary parking to all exhibitors and visitors to The Hardware Show 2026. Simply quote “The Hardware Show” upon entry to the Car Park and show your proof of registration (on your phone) to gain access for free.
Public Transport: DART Routes
The DART service runs to Lansdowne Road Station and Sandymount Station, both of which are a short walk from the RDS. For timetables and tickets, visit the Irish Rail Journey Planner.
Public Bus Routes
The RDS is serviced locally by Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland from Dublin City Centre, with a number of routes: For further information on local Dublin Bus routes visit www.dublinbus.ie
Irish Rail - Iarnród Éireann
InterCity Rail services run from two different Dublin stationsHeuston Station and Connolly Station. Heuston Station has trains to / from Ballina, Westport, Galway, Limerick, Tralee, Cork, Waterford, Portlaoise and Kildare. Connolly Station has trains to/from Belfast, Sligo, Dundalk, Kildare, Longford and Rosslare Europort. The Luas Red Line links the two stations door to door.
LUAS - Dublin Light Rail
There is no direct route from the LUAS to the RDS. However, the LUAS connects at Connolly Station to the DART system which stops at both Landsdowne and Sandymount Dart Stations, both of which are a short walk from the RDS.
The closest LUAS stop is Ranelagh, which can be reached by taking the S2 bus from Merrion Road.
Directions From Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport is a dual terminal international airport conveniently located approximately 10km north of Dublin City Centre, near the M50 and M1 motorways. There are public transport links to/from the airport by bus and taxi. Taxis are readily available for hire outside the airport. For your journey to the RDS, the Aircoach bus stops directly outside the grounds.
By Taxi
Taxis are available at the Taxi rank outside Arrivals. Expect to pay between €30 and €40 to get to the RDS.
Public Transport to/from Dublin Airport
The RDS is serviced by the Aircoach (Route 702) that brings customers directly to and from Dublin airport. Aircoach stops are located on Merrion Road in front of the RDS main complex entrance.

Bobby Kerr l Judging Chairman
Bobby is a presenter on “Down to Business” the popular Newstalk radio business show on Saturdays. His business show has a listenership of 130,000 having grown it from just 27,000 when he started 10 years ago. From 2017 to 2019 he presented “Bobby’s Late Breakfast”, a lifestyle magazine type show on Sunday mornings which had 93,000 listeners. Bobby is formally co-owner and Chairman/CEO of Insomnia Coffee Company (which he exited from in 2018), Ireland largest independent coffee chain, which at that time had over 140 shops, employed over 500 people and sold over 14 million cups of coffee a year. He was also one of the original Dragons on RTE`s Dragon’s Den for the first 4 years of the series. Although he has left the series to look at other broadcasting opportunities, he continues to be actively involved with the nine investments he made during the series. Bobby is also a popular business, entrepreneurial and motivational speaker.
