WINTER/SPRING 2022-23

MISSION

Since our foundation in 2012, we have partnered with parents to educate children not simply to one day gain admittance to the best college, but to equip them for life, helping them discover who God made them to be. We work continually to restore the humanity of each child entrusted to us, as God works to restore his creation. Thus, our mission is partnering with God as His servants in seeking the restoration of His image in our students through education.

VISION

Habersham's vision is based on the time-honored tradition of classical education, where students are taught to question, to investigate, and to dialogue, combined with an unapologetic commitment to the truth of Christ. Habersham emphasizes the great works of literature, the great discoveries of math and science, and the great ideas and figures of Western civilization, combined with a disciplined study of classical languages, thereby training students how to learn, so they retain their love of learning.

We recognize the years of school life of children are a humbling opportunity to make a profound impact. Not only are students developing cognitively and physically, but they are forming lifelong spiritual and character habits as well. Their view of the world, their answers to life’s questions, and their view of the good life all take shape during these formative years at school. We seek to mold and shape both academic and spiritual formation in an integrated way: cultivating a love of learning, equipping students to learn well, and grounding instruction in Christian orthodoxy and devotion.

Thehouse system upholds community at Habersham, providing students with a variety of leadership opportunities. The four main events bring competition and fun, with students across all grades working together and creating memories. This fall for Feast Day performed the story of a children's book of their choice. Every house truly put on an amazing production, but congratulations to Pulaski, who came out with the win for their rendition of Paddington. The next event is Sidewalk Arts, where students can look forward to displaying their artistic and storytelling talents through chalk.

FEAST DAY FEAST DAY

House of Washington took us underground with a host of woodland creatures in their performance of Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox. They sought to wrestle with the question, “Can you do a bad thing with good intentions?”

“Faith, trust, and...PIXIE DUST!” House of Madison whisked us off to Neverland in their enactment of Peter Pan. With dazzling costumes, they truly made everyone never want to grow up.

We soared across the pond to London where we went on an adventure with Paddington Bear! The audience met the Queen of England with her corgis and dined on dainty finger sandwiches with the House of Pulaski.

CAROLS IN THE PARK

ThisDecember, the music program came together to sing Christmas carols at Hull Park for all to come and hear. Parents and staff got to enjoy a small performance put on by students throughout all grades at Habersham. The audience was welcome to sing along to the familiar tunes while they enjoyed a spread of cookies and hot chocolate to snack on.

Habersham is a small school with a big spirit and a love for music. Grades Pre-K to Twelfth learn a variety of melodies, hymns, and classical songs. Since the population of Habersham is smaller than most high schools, the fine arts program allows for stronger bonds with kids in other grades and people you never talk to otherwise. When people sing in a choir, they do something that “no one person can do alone. When many people come together to make music, it’s much more beautiful than just one person singing alone.” -

The Nutcracker

Ballet at Habersham is offered to students from Pre-K through Fifth grades. An important part of classical co-curriculars, it teaches girls the benefits of dedication and working together as a team. This year, Habersham partnered with Madeleine Walker Coastal Ballet Theater to perform The Nutcracker at the Lucas Theatre. This was a lovely opportunity for our younger ballerinas to show what they have learned over the course of the year!
