THE HABERSHAM SCHOOL

ASK THE LORD FOR RAIN IN THE SPRINGTIME; IT IS THE LORD WHO SENDS THE THUNDERSTORMS. HE GIVES SHOWERS OF RAIN TO ALL PEOPLE, AND PLANTS OF THE FIELD TO EVERYONE.

ZECHARIAH 10:1

More than 200 grandparents and family members gathered at

THETEMPEST

The Habersham Fine Arts Program recently performed The Tempest, by William Shakespeare. This incredible production gave three performances and showcased the struggle for revenge and reconciliation.

“When I was first introduced to Shakespeare’s final play, I immediately felt inspired to tell this story on a Habersham School stage,” said Katie Beaumont, Habersham’s Fine Arts Director. “Shakespeare was a master of examining human nature, and this play feels particularly relevant in our day and age.”

SIDEWALK ARTS

This year’s Sidewalk Arts Festival success! The theme, Preserving Matter, challenged each LaFayette, Madison, and work together to create sidewalk drawings.

Congratulations to the House for receiving the highest score The House Cup winner will closing ceremonies in May.

“AS ONE OF OUR MOST LOVED AND ANTICIPATED TRADITIONS, SIDEWALK ARTS PROVIDES EACH HOUSE AN OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE AND SHARE WONDERFUL ART WITH OUR HABERSHAM COMMUNITY,” SAID CLAY HINING, DEAN OF STUDENTS AND FAMILIES.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Classes from Pre-K to 12 explored the Savannah area and beyond. From bee hives, muddy marshes, and strawberry fields to the mountains of North Carolina, students gained new knowledge of God’s world and as His stewards, our role to preserve and protect it.

Congratulations to Brownette Olson who committed to play volleyball for Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Florida. She received full tuition, and we cannot wait to see her in action next year. Congratulations, Brownie!

The 5 and 6 boys' basketball team placed second in the SPAL Tournament. The boys worked hard all season and put forth a tremendous effort in a very competitive tournament. We are so proud of your hard work this season!

HEAD OF SCHOOL

How did your classical education at Habersham impact your life as an adult?

Versatility! Habersham helped me step outside my comfort zone and challenged me. They taught me how to formulate and communicate my ideas efficiently and effectively, and that skill has been one of the clearest practical takeaways of my education.

McCarty

At The Habersham School, Latin is not a dead linguistic exercise. Rather, it is the "mother tongue" of Western Christendom. The phrase Cantate Domino - "Sing to the Lord" - serves as a vital heartbeat in our classical curriculum. It is a command found throughout the Psalms, calling us to move beyond mere intellectual assent into the realm of joyful, embodied worship.

As mentioned in the State of the School, next year's Liturgy books are titled, Cantate Domino. This reminds our students, actually all of us, that truth is ultimately musical. When we sing together, we are practicing the harmony that should exist between the soul and its Creator. This "New Song" isn’t just about melody; it represents a life transformed by Grace. By mastering this phrase and the great hymns of our faith, students join a timeless chorus, echoing the praises of generations past while preparing their hearts to lead the next.
