Community Dear Green Vale Families, This year, we turned our collective attention to Community, a value woven into the fabric of Green Vale since our founding. With intentional focus, we placed belonging at the center of our work, guided by the belief that every child deserves to feel known, valued, and connected. When students feel a deep sense of belonging, they are empowered to reach their fullest potential. Thanks to your extraordinary generosity, we were able to bring this value to life in meaningful and lasting ways across every corner of campus. Whether through strengthening the bonds between families, investing in programs that nurture the whole child, or celebrating the traditions that define us, your support ensures that community is not just a theme but a living, breathing part of who we are at Green Vale. Philanthropy at Green Vale is always rooted in community, and once again, this past year proved just how strong ours is. A few highlights from 2025-2026: • Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our community, the Annual Fund once again exceeded $1 million—reflecting our shared belief in Green Vale’s mission and the lifelong connections that make our community so special. • The Fall Gala & Auction enjoyed a record fundraising year, bringing together parents, faculty, and staff in support of Green Vale. The evening’s success was made possible by the generosity of nearly 50 sponsors and patrons, more than 30 parent volunteers, and over 200 auction items, including 40 teacher offerings. • Blue-Gold Giving Day inspired 175 donors to rally behind their team, highlighting the community spirit and tradition that define Green Vale. Congratulations to Team Gold on their participation win! • The Parents Association continued to strengthen our community by organizing more than 60 gradelevel gatherings, supporting annual events, and launching Green Vale Gives, a new community service initiative that brings our families together in support of local organizations. • Alumni engagement remained strong with young alumni events, alumni speakers returning to campus, and the Fourth Annual Blue-Gold Softball Game. • We are deeply grateful to the Estate of Sterling Pile for an extraordinary bequest honoring his legacy. The generosity of Sterling Pile III ’66 will leave a lasting impact at Green Vale and advance our mission for generations to come. Your support touches every student, every teacher, and every part of the Green Vale experience. Special Gift 1923 Legacy Society A Lasting Expression of Love for Green Vale We are deeply grateful to the Estate of Sterling Pile for an extraordinary bequest honoring his legacy. The generosity of Sterling Pile III ’66 will leave a lasting impact at Green Vale and advance our mission for generations to come. Sterling passed away on August 6, 2024, in California. A graduate of The Darrow School and Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, he built a distinguished career as an entrepreneur and investor. As co-founder of Outdoor Vision, he was a trailblazer in the outdoor advertising industry, helping revolutionize the field through campaigns, including Apple’s “Think Different” series, and innovative uses of urban spaces as marketing platforms. His adoption of computer imaging transformed large-scale wall advertising, earning him recognition as one of Los Angeles’ “Billboard Kings.” Remembered for his creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and remarkable ability to connect with others, Sterling leaves a legacy of innovation, generosity, and lasting impact. 20

Alumni Softball
On May 16, alumni of all ages and their families returned to campus to participate in the 4th Annual Blue-Gold Softball Game. Players and fans enjoyed an afternoon full of friendly rivalry, barbeque, GVS swag, and plenty of Blue-Gold spirit. One of our favorite traditions continued this year as Peter Pell ’56 once again took the mound to throw the ceremonial first pitch as the eldest player, helping make the day especially memorable. In an exciting matchup, Team Gold secured a 15-10 victory over Team Blue and claimed the Green Vale School Alumni Cup for the fourth consecutive year.

Special Gift Tuition Remission With deep gratitude to parents Courtney & Andrew Geisel and Bliss & Baldwin Smith ’84, Green Vale is honored to accept a $500,000 grant from the Paul & Maxine Frohring Foundation to support tuition remission for faculty children. This extraordinary investment directly impacts one of the School’s most meaningful commitments: ensuring that educators can share in the Green Vale experience not only as teachers, but as parents. Each year, Green Vale awards over $1 million to faculty families for tuition assistance. As demand has nearly doubled in the past six years, this gift will help meet the growing need—making it possible for more to apply and enroll their children in the community to which they give so much. Green Vale’s faculty is central to its mission, and this gesture reinforces that belief by helping to sustain a benefit that plays a key role in recruiting and retaining dedicated teachers. Class of 2026 It was a beautiful morning under the tent in Rogers Quad as we came together on June 9 to celebrate the Class of 2026. Surrounded by family, friends, faculty, trustees, and staff, graduates celebrated years of learning, friendship, and personal growth while looking ahead to the exciting opportunities that await them. Faculty speaker Julie Rooney, chosen by the graduating class, spoke about the lasting impact students can have through kindness, connection, and service to others. Drawing on Maya Angelou’s words, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel,” she celebrated the Class of 2026 for their compassion and sense of community. From welcoming students from the ELIJA School to supporting local organizations and community partners, Ms. Rooney highlighted the many ways the class has made others feel seen, valued, and included. She encouraged graduates to continue nurturing meaningful relationships, caring for themselves and others, and using their talents to make a positive difference in the world. Student speaker Charles Otto delivered a heartfelt address about the friendships, memories, and shared experiences that have defined the Class of 2026. Reflecting on everything from first-day jitters to Upper School traditions, Charles reminded his classmates that Green Vale had become far more than a school—it had become a second home. He thanked the teachers, administrators, staff, and families who supported the class throughout their journey and encouraged his fellow graduates to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead while cherishing the community they built together. The ceremony continued with the presentation of diplomas and the recognition of graduation and year-end award recipients, honoring students for their achievements in academics, athletics, citizenship, character, leadership, and the arts. Head of School Dr. Jesse Dougherty concluded the ceremony by reflecting on the Class’s remarkable journey, noting that Green Vale serves as a “foundational document” for students’ educational futures. Drawing inspiration from the nation’s founding ideals and the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke, he spoke about the themes that have defined the Class of 2026: growth, community, and the development of each student’s own “inner light.” He challenged graduates to continue expanding their circles of care and connection while remaining grounded in the values they developed at Green Vale.
