With the Wall Street server farms nestled in New Jersey, and me on the West Coast, the distance was a dealbreaker. Every mile counts in high-frequency trading, and I was too far out of the loop. 2. The Man Who Solved the Markets - This book introduced me to Jim Simmons, a legendary investor shrouded in obscurity. His background in code-breaking for the CIA during the Cold War translated incredibly into conquering Wall Street with astronomical returns of 60%+. His story is nothing short of remarkable. 3. New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems - Though as dry as a 7th-grade textbook, this book was a game-changer for me. It gave me the edge I was looking for. I learned to use key technical indicators to decipher market trends. I couldn't win with speed, but I could make smarter decisions by reading strength. The author's inventions like ADX, RSI, and Parabolic SAR, along with others like PPO and MACD, became my tools to challenge Wall Street. In the world of TA, these resources were my lighthouses.
