About Forth Valley Chorus
We are a 97-strong women’s barbershop (4-part a cappella) chorus and a member of Sweet Adelines International, an international network of female barbershop singers, founded in 1945 and comprising almost 21,000 members across 21 countries.
With eight national gold medals under our belt and a top-ten place in the 2019 Sweet Adelines International Competition in New Orleans, USA, we are more focused than ever and hungry to secure a further
top ten medal at the 2023 International in Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
It’s not all hard work though! Forth
Valley Chorus is, above all, a sisterhood, with members travelling to our weekly rehearsals from as far afield as Aberdeen and spanning a range of ages and backgrounds, all united by our love of singing, performing and learning, as well as by our love and support for each other. We are ordinary women, yet together we create something extraordinary.
A solicitor by day, the multi-talented David is an accomplished pianist, singer and educator and is now much in demand as a coach of other Sweet Adelines Choruses around the world.
Since he took over as director in 2005, David’s energy, enthusiasm, meticulous eye for detail, and passion for close harmony singing have helped drive an already successful Chorus to achieve our current position in the top ten Choruses worldwide. Many of our songs tonight have been arranged by David and our talented Assistant Director, Rosalind Johnson.

About David Sangster, Director
Go Forth are Helen (lead), Natalie (baritone) and sisters Cara (tenor) and Sian (bass).
The quartet found their sound as roommates, when competing with FVC in New Orleans in 2019. Returning home, they met regularly to sing, along with an obligatory cup of peppermint tea. Covid, and the birth of Cara’s son last year, meant that their audition to become an officially recognised quartet was delayed until this September. Go Forth are excited to share their sound with you and are delighted to make their stage debut in tonight’s show!
Go Forth
love entertaining and sharing the joy of a cappella singing at corporate and private events across Edinburgh, the Lothians and further afield. The group are delighted to be back performing again and you can see them at Brewhemia on the afternoon of Sunday 4th December 2022. Their repertoire covers everything from traditional barbershop and jazz to more modern pop numbers - Irving Berlin to Eurythmics and beyond! To book INCOGNITO to sing for your event please email: incognitoacappella@gmail.com
Incognito
The Moneypennies were formed in November 2015 after discovering a shared love of a cappella singing in four part harmony, plus a love of prosecco and fun time!
Bex, Ali, Hazel and Lynsey each value the support and friendship the quartet has given them just as much as the joy of singing together, and they spend much of their rehearsal time (sometimes even all of it…) chatting and laughing.
The Moneypennies
The Moneypennies are excited to be singing a mashup of two fantastic songs, arranged for us by the beloved assistant director of FVC, our very own Rosalind Johnson.
Diane, Kate, Phyllis and Norma have been singing together for 6 years as Word of Mouth. They love to perform and can be hired for events and after dinner entertainment. They sing a range of music from barbershop to show tunes, jazz and pop and particularly enjoy anything with a bit of swing!
Word of Mouth
The quartet recorded When Christmas Comes Around as a virtual performance during lockdown 2020 so they are excited to sing it for you in ‘real life’ tonight!
The girls - Kate, Rosalind and Carole-Anne - met each other as members of Forth Valley Chorus in 2012. Since their last appearance on Forth Valley’s “From Auld Reekie to the Big Easy” in 2019 they have continued to perform in and around Edinburgh at a variety of events. In August this year they had the joy of joining their friends, the Rolling Hills Chorus, at their first Fringe show in three years, “Back to the Fringe”. Black Velvet are very proud of their exciting and eclectic repertoire of original a cappella arrangements; all thanks to the musical talents of their lead arranger and group member Rosalind.
Velvet
The girls are excited to be celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2023 and would love for you to join and celebrate with them on Saturday 1st April at The Voodoo Rooms. Mark it in your diaries now!

Christmas Tree Fundraiser
Forth Valley Chorus is teaming up with Leadburn Community Woodland to sell environmentally-friendly, locally-grown Christmas trees cut from the woodland to raise funds for both charities.
Each tree sold through FVC will raise £10 for our International Fund.
Every Christmas, the Leadburn Community Woodland volunteers cut fresh Christmas trees from the woodland to sell for a very reasonable £20 - £25 for a typical 5 - 8ft tree to raise funds for several Scottish woodland charities. This year, to help with fundraising for the international competition in Kentucky, Leadburn will donate £10 to Forth Valley Chorus to anyone mentioning FVC when buying a tree. You can also bring this advert as a reminder!
The trees are self-seeded from when the land was run by the Forestry Commission, and grow naturally in the woodland. They are cut as Christmas trees to allow their eventual replacement with native Scots pines, as well as birch, rowan, oak, junipers and other trees. Leadburn is now a lovely open woodland with several miles of scenic walks.
There are Lodgepole Pines with upright branches and lovely soft needles, and Sitka Spruce with a more traditional Christmas tree shape available.
For sale
Saturdays & Sundays (10-3) in December & 27 November! at Leadburn Community Woodland, off the lay-by half a mile south of Leadburn Junction on the A703 road to Peebles More details at www.leadburnwood.com
