expertise in mixology has also earned him a spot in the prestigious top 50 Bartender Powerlists by Caterer Middle East. His unique style and signature drinks have become the face of the Ritz Carlton Riyadh, where he aims to create impeccable masterpieces using both local and international ingredients.
Reflecting on his career, Macario emphasizes the importance of pursuing one’s passions and finding fulfillment in their chosen field.

“We need that for us to be challenged in everyday life,” he states.
“As for me, I don’t call it a struggle but
instead an opportunity to be more effective in my profession and to be a better version of myself.”
Macario’s journey has not been without personal struggles. Working away from home, he missed important celebrations and even experienced the heartbreaking loss of his 13-day-old baby. However, his positive outlook and unwavering belief in himself and a higher power have helped him overcome these trials.
“Believing in myself in a positive way helped me a lot, helped me to stand and continue that everything happened for a reason,” he shares.
Looking ahead, Macario envisions putting up his own bar and training center in the Philippines, where he can inspire and guide aspiring bartenders and mixologists.
“I want to be someone’s back when they feel discouraged because, trust me, I was alone when I was experiencing that and wished that someone would push me to achieve my goals,” he expresses.
To his fellow kabayans who may be struggling, Macario offers words of encouragement and advice: “Never stop! We need to showcase our Filipino blood where we stand and fight against whatever challenge that may come. His story is one of triumph over adversity and the unwavering belief that dreams can be achieved with hard work, faith, and an unwavering spirit.
Winston’s journey began with humble beginnings. Growing up in a financially disadvantaged family, he faced numerous obstacles on his path to success. Denied the opportunity to pursue higher education due to poverty, Winston’s dreams were not deterred. His talent for writing became his ticket to a brighter future. His achievements in essay writing contests caught the attention of influential figures, leading to a government scholarship recommendation from the late Hon. Raul S. Roco, former Philippine Senator and Secretary of Education. the open sky,” he told The Global Filipino Magazine.
Winston’s journey abroad commenced in 2006 when he was offered a position as a Project Site Secretary cum Document Controller for the New Doha International Airport project in Qatar. From there, his career flourished, leading him to work on several high-profile projects in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Notable projects include the Hudayriyat IslandHudayriyat Priority Development Area in Abu Dhabi, the Etihad Rail Stage 2 & 3 project in Dubai, and the Expo 2020 Urban Planning & Public Realm project in Dubai.

As a Document Controller, Winston plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing the document control management system cycle for various projects. His responsibilities include ensuring the accessibility, traceability, version control, and submission of documents through online software platforms such as Aconex System. “I started with a wage of 1,200 Qatari Riyals per month way back 2006, in Doha, State of Qatar. It requires a lot of sacrifices
and patience,” the OFW recalled.
However, his unwavering faith, persistence, and unwavering support from his family and loved ones helped him overcome these obstacles. Winston’s ability to adapt and learn from failures and problems has shaped him into the resilient individual he is today.
Winston’s accomplishments extend beyond his professional career. He encourages fellow Filipinos to remember their reasons for pursuing work abroad, reminding them that their sacrifices serve a greater purpose.
“If you will drift away due to untoward circumstance, pause for a while, recollect, and pray, and go back to your basic core and objectives what are the main reasons why you decided in the first place to work abroad. From there, you will be able to rebuild the kind of character and attitude needed to start over again and fulfil the ultimate desires of your hypothalamus,” he concluded.

A rising star taking Filipino football to new heights in Dubai
Football has long been overshadowed by basketball in the Philippines, but one young Filipino footballer is defying the odds and making his mark in the world of football.
Meet Shane Neil Clemente, a 5’4 full-back, whose journey from the Philippines to Dubai is an inspiring tale of determination, resilience, and unwavering passion for the beautiful game.
At just 21 years old, Shane’s story serves as a testament to the power of pursuing one’s dreams, even in the face of adversity. From a young age, Shane was captivated by the allure of football, attending matches as a fan and immersing himself in the vibrant atmosphere of local clubs like Kaya FC and the national team with Ultras Filipinas.
While basketball may reign supreme in his homeland, Shane’s unwavering passion for football fueled his desire to excel in the sport.
In a recent interview, Shane delved into his motivations for choosing football over basketball.
“What motivated me to pursue a career in football despite basketball being the dominant sport in the Philippines is the sheer passion I have for the game,” he shared with The Global Filipino Magazine.
“Since I was eight years old, I attended matches as a fan, chanting songs and dreaming of one day playing on that field. Football suits Filipinos well due to our natural height, as opposed to basketball, where height plays a significant role.”
Shane’s journey took a significant turn when he made the decision to move to Dubai, a move that was not without its challenges. Faced with rejections from clubs, limited opportunities, and being left out of his high school team, Shane’s determination remained unshaken.
He recalls the difficult trials he faced in the Philippines, traveling for hours only to be rejected by clubs. However, with the support of his older brother, Shane mustered the courage to explore new horizons and pursue his football aspirations abroad.
Upon arriving in Dubai, Shane faced the initial challenges of adapting to a new country and a different footballing landscape. The scorching heat and high humidity tested his physical and mental
resilience.
However, with his brother by his side, Shane embarked on a journey of exploration, immersing himself in the local culture and discovering the realities faced by overseas Filipino workers. This firsthand experience deepened his appreciation for the sacrifices made by the Filipino community in pursuit of a better life.
Transitioning to football in Dubai presented its own set of hurdles. Shane recognized that his fitness levels needed improvement, having been hampered by the pandemic’s restrictions on playing in the Philippines.
Moreover, adapting to playing with a diverse group of players from various nationalities challenged Shane to enhance his technical skills. Determined to overcome these obstacles, he sought personal training with Mr. Rey at Smart Football Fitness.
Through dedicated training, Shane transformed his physicality, knowledge, and technical abilities, enabling him to play a full 90 minutes with confidence.
Shane’s relentless pursuit of his footballing dreams paid off when he secured a spot in Al-Ittifaq FC Division II. Enduring trials and competitions, he showcased his talent, catching the attention of the club’s selectors. Currently in the preseason, Shane’s time with Al-Ittifaq FC has provided valuable opportunities for his development as a player, preparing him for the challenges of the upcoming 2023-2024 season.
Beyond his personal accomplishments, Shane’s presence in Dubai has had a profound impact on the Filipino community and the perception of football
as a sport.
Dubai, known for its fervent passion for football, has embraced Shane and his compatriots, recognizing the talent and potential they bring to the game. Shane actively engages with the Filipino football community in Dubai, playing with Pinoy FC-Dubai and inspiring young players to pursue their own footballing dreams.
His commitment to the sport and his accomplishments have fostered a growing interest in football among Filipinos, challenging the dominance of basketball in the country.
When asked about his goals and ambitions, both in Dubai and on a broader scale, Shane’s passion shines through. His immediate aspiration is to play in the top leagues in the UAE or Europe, with a burning desire to represent the Philippines on the international stage. Beyond personal achievements, Shane envisions himself as a source of inspiration for aspiring Filipino football players.
“My message to those aspiring football players in the Philippines is that you only live once and have a lot of opportunities to learn. Make some sacrifices and give yourself time to improve physically and mentally, develop mental resilience by staying focused, maintaining a positive attitude, and learning from mistakes,” he said.
“Believe in your abilities and stay motivated, even during difficult times. Last but not least is to enjoy every single moment of absolutely incredible highs and devastatingly difficult lows.”
He aims to spread the game within the country, motivating young talents to believe in their abilities, embrace the journey, and never give up on their dreams.
Looking to the future, Shane has exciting projects in the pipeline, awaiting official announcements once the necessary documentation is completed.
Additionally, his family has initiated grassroots initiatives, introducing futsal to schools in their hometown of Malabon, Philippines.
Through these efforts, they hope to create more opportunities for aspiring players and further promote football as an inclusive and accessible sport.
Filipina entrepreneur shares journey from corporate success to Shamanic coach
Myljoy Polestico, a Filipino entrepreneur, is a testament to the transformative power of embracing one’s heritage, integrating diverse cultures, and following one’s passion. With a remarkable career spanning over 15 years abroad, Myljoy has navigated through different countries and industries, ultimately finding her true calling as an international executive coach and the founder of Samariy, a unique coaching company that combines traditional coaching competencies, ontological methodologies, and shaman energy practices.
Born in Cebu City, Myljoy’s early years in the Philippines shaped her values and ignited her love for exploration and adventure. Moving between Cebu, Leyte, and Bohol, she experienced the contrasts of bustling city life and the tranquility of rural provinces, fostering a deep connection to nature and an appreciation for diverse ways of living.
“There was always so much movement, adventure and change in my life, which exposed me to different ways to live, the hustle of the city, the humbleness of the provinces, the connection and abundance to nature,” she told The Global Filipino Magazine.
Her parents’ relocation to Australia propelled her into a new chapter, where she discovered her affinity for connection
and technology.
From her first job as a telemarketer in Sydney, Myljoy realized the power of connecting with people and utilizing technology to reach individuals from all walks of life. This early experience set the foundations for her future career endeavors. Riding the wave of the dot-com boom in the early 2000s, she ventured into the tech industry, specializing in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Marketing Technology. Myljoy’s work in an Australian company called Hitwise, which was later acquired for a significant sum, fueled her passion for connection and technology.
Seeking further career growth, Myljoy made the bold decision to move to Singapore, a place she knew little about but felt an instant connection with. Over 13 years, she worked for both Fortune 100 companies and innovative startups, gaining invaluable experience in sales, marketing, and management. Her trajectory in the corporate world seemed promising, but she soon realized that something was missing internally.
A transformative moment came during a retreat in 2016, where Myljoy participated in an Ayahuasca ceremony. This profound experience led her to reassess her career path and rediscover her love for building businesses. After a year, she took the leap and founded her own Sales and Marketing company, simultaneously delving into the world of coaching. Through The Coach Partnership, Myljoy obtained her coaching certification and began her journey as a coach, embracing her newfound purpose.
However, embracing her coaching practice was not without its challenges. Myljoy initially faced shame and confusion as she transitioned away from the corporate world she had once admired. But her determination and passion pushed her forward, and she gradually built her coaching practice, working with executives and witnessing the invisible energy they created and attracted. This curiosity led her to explore Shaman energy practices and integrate them into her coaching methodology.
The pivotal moment arrived when Myljoy stumbled upon a book called “The Four Insights” by Alberto Villoldo, a modernday Shaman. Intrigued by the practices presented in the book, she embarked on a journey to Chile to attend The Four Winds Energy Medicine School by Alberto Villoldo. Despite facing visa
complications, Myljoy’s detour to Brazil became a serendipitous experience, where she reconnected with nature and immersed herself in Ayahuasca retreats. Eventually, she received her Chile visa and continued her education, learning Shaman energy practices and expanding her knowledge in Bahia, Brazil.
Returning to the Philippines due to her grandmother’s illness, Myljoy witnessed the power of energy practices for healing, clearing, and releasing, reigniting a sense of connection to her forgotten roots.
“Using energy practices for healing, clearing, and releasing has always been something I had in me, and seeing this made me feel I had reconnected to something I had forgotten a long time ago,” she added.
Today, as a digital nomad based in Singapore, Myljoy’s company, Samariy, combines her expertise in coaching, ontological methodologies, and shaman energy practices to empower her clients and help them create limitless lives.
She advises aspiring entrepreneurs to remain authentic, as originality lies within themselves. Her mantra, “Bring in the fun, wonder, and magic into the work,” resonates with her commitment to embracing challenges with laughter and using joy as a catalyst for growth.

How an OFW in Abu Dhabi navigates his way from the aviation industry to medical coding
In a world of uncertainties brought upon by the pandemic, some stories stand out as shining examples of hope and determination. One such story is that of Emmanuel John Cadiz Abad, a 25-year-old fresh graduate, who, armed with multiple licenses, made a significant career shift from aviation to the medical field. In an exclusive interview with The Global Filipino Magazine, Emmanuel shared his remarkable journey and the invaluable lessons he learned along the way.
A native of the Philippines, Emmanuel’s journey began as a licensed Aircraft Mechanic and licensed Private Pilot. However, when the pandemic struck, the aviation industry was severely impacted, forcing him to temporarily set aside his dreams of becoming a commercial pilot. Determined not to be defeated, he saw the pandemic as an opportunity to explore alternative paths.
“I needed something to fall back on. Something to help my parents recuperate with,” Emmanuel shared.
“I decided to get into the Medical Field, seeking better opportunities and hoping to continue my dream as a Pilot later on in my life.”
With an unwavering mantra to “never stop trying again,” Emmanuel embarked on a new adventure in Abu Dhabi, following in the footsteps of his mother, who had been working there as a nurse for 15 years.
Emmanuel’s journey wasn’t without its share of challenges.
“At first, I struggled to accept that I needed to step away from my dream,” he admitted.
“Mostly, the fights and battles were with my past self. I needed to be better and convince myself to move on rather than dwelling on the things I might’ve or should’ve done.”
With determination and the support of his loved ones, Emmanuel overcame these internal struggles.
“I prayed and always believed that I am not alone. My God, my family, and my beloved were with me, and all I needed was to talk openly with them,” he shared.
Choosing a new career path, Emmanuel delved into medical coding, confident that the medical field would always be in demand.
“The pandemic allowed me to see things from a different perspective,” he explained.
“I know that there are better opportunities waiting for me in this field, and I will use those opportunities as steppingstones for a better future.”
Working overseas, Emmanuel found solace in the people, environment, better income, and safety offered by Abu Dhabi. He cherished the newfound experiences and growth he gained from living and working abroad.
For our kabayans struggling abroad, Emmanuel offered heartfelt advice: “You are not alone, and always remember that the greatest glory in life lies not in
never falling, but in rising every time we fall. Keep moving forward, and someday, you’ll be proud of yourself for breaking through those struggles.”
He also emphasized the importance of selflove, financial prudence, and surrounding oneself with trustworthy individuals.
“Love yourself properly, and it will help you love someone else better. Live within your income, avoid debts, and overcome the impulse to buy unnecessary things. Keep your circle small—quality over quantity.”
As for his future plans, Emmanuel aims to work as a Medical Coder, gain valuable experience, support his parents, save money, and eventually resume his flight training to fulfill his dream of becoming a pilot. He hopes that his parents will witness the realization of his aspirations, creating a legacy of success and gratitude.
Emmanuel concluded the interview by humbly acknowledging the support he received throughout his journey.
“I give all the glory and honor to God. I am here because I was not alone,” he said gratefully.
“To my parents, my instructors, and my friends—Kaya ko, Kaya mo, Kaya natin to.”

For his fellow kabayans struggling abroad, Richard has valuable advice to share.
“My advice to all Kabayans out there would be to practice patience. Being strong and choosing to be strong are different. Though we cannot always be strong, we can always choose to be. Richard’s optimism and belief in the power of hope and laughter serve as a reminder that life is full of surprises and possibilities.
