n the bustling world of entrepreneurship and education, Asmin T. Saidi stands out as a beacon of inspiration and ingenuity. At the age of 31, Asmin has already accomplished what many aspire to achieve in a lifetime. She is not just a public school teacher but also a successful entrepreneur, business coach, and the CEO and founder of AZGO Travel Solutions Corp. Her life’s mantra, “Think big, build simple, act now!” resonates through her remarkable journey, as she narrates in an exclusive interview with The Global Filipino Magazine. Asmin’s career began in 2017 as a public school teacher, a role she passionately continues today. However, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish a travel and tours business even before her teaching career took off.

Before becoming a public school teacher, Asmin was a private school teacher. She finds joy in both teaching and entrepreneurship. “My profession is to teach, but my passion is in business,” she says. Asmin believes in instilling financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills in her students, challenging the traditional mindset of seeking employment as the sole path to success. Every day, Asmin balances her roles in government and her business, sometimes facing challenges like booking errors or system problems. “I set a time management schedule, and thankfully, I manage it properly,” she reveals.

Looking ahead, Asmin plans to build more businesses and support aspiring entrepreneurs, especially the youth. “I want to help them develop a mindset for financial literacy and entrepreneurship early in their lives,” she explains. Her ultimate dream is to ensure that her family and community in Marawi City have stable incomes.

Her resilience was particularly tested during the pandemic when she battled severe anxiety and depression.

To those struggling, Asmin offers advice inspired by author Robert Kiyosaki: “Surround yourself with the right people as a key to financial success.”

“I clung to God/Allah,” Asmin recalls, attributing her recovery and the revival of her business to her faith.

She emphasizes the importance of being in the company of those who share positive mindsets and ambitions.

“I love traveling, and it was a natural choice for my business,” Asmin shares.

“We’re in the 21st century, and businesses are increasingly moving online,” Asmin notes, emphasizing the importance of adapting to modern trends.

Recognizing the potential to help others, especially in her Muslim/Maranao community, Asmin developed a B2B travel booking website. This platform enables aspiring entrepreneurs to start their travel agency business with an investment of just ₱2,500.

Her venture quickly grew, allowing her to acquire properties, vehicles, and her first house. By 2018, her business had expanded significantly, with hundreds of resellers booking through her.

This position wasn’t merely a job; it was an entry point into an elite world. Working alongside French and German colleagues, she honed her skills to the European standards of the boating industry.

Lauren’s decision to leave the Philippines was driven by a quest for better opportunities and a desire to broaden her horizons.

She expresses profound gratitude for the familial treatment she receives from her boss, underscoring a sense of belonging and appreciation in her work environment.

Lola’s expanded from local restaurants to national retail chains. Today, Lola’s Fine Hot Sauce is not just a product on the shelves; it’s a narrative of cultural harmony and entrepreneurial success. Available in over 14,000 locations, including over 3,600 Walgreens stores, Lola’s has become the first-ever national Asian-Filipino-owned hot sauce brand in the United States.

Reflecting on his journey, Dalauidao shared with The Global Filipino Magazine, “Making a difference in someone’s life has been a cornerstone of my career, beginning in the Philippines and now extending globally. I never anticipated the immense opportunities to pursue my passion for helping others, especially in a country that embraces diverse cultures, beliefs, and nationalities.” In his role with the Filipino Nurses Association UK (FNAUK), Dalauidao goes above and beyond his professional duties.

“My work with FNAUK, particularly in welcoming and supporting new Filipino nurses, is a labor of love. It’s about building a community for those far from home,” he stated. This initiative includes organizing events, providing resources, and offering personal and professional guidance.

Discussing the latest initiative he’s part of, the ‘Untold Stories’ project funded by the Mayor of London’s office, Dalauidao said, “This project is about giving voice to our experiences as Filipino nurses in the UK. It’s about sharing our journey and celebrating our contributions to this diverse society.”

Dalauidao’s advocacy extends to his workplace, where he serves as a support pillar for Filipino staff.

Dalauidao’s newest venture, the WeC.A.R.E charity, underscores his commitment to broader global community support, with projects already underway in Ghana and plans for expansion to the Philippines.

“Whether it’s addressing harassment, illness, or professional challenges, my aim is to be a reliable resource for my colleagues in need,” he explained. His fundraising efforts, notably for a colleague in critical condition, highlight his commitment to his community. As a member of the CNO-BAME-SAG, Dalauidao collaborates with nurse leaders to support and empower ethnic minority nurses. His dedication to nurturing future healthcare professionals is evident in his mentoring efforts, having guided numerous healthcare assistants in becoming registered nurses.

“My vision for WeC.A.R.E is to foster community development, support religious initiatives, and promote education. It’s about giving back in the most meaningful ways possible,” he said. His philosophy is deeply rooted in the belief of giving back, as he eloquently puts it, “My happiness doesn’t come from what I receive, but from what I am able to give to others. It’s about making a positive impact, one life at a time.”

Currently holding the position of a Trade Shopper Marketing Officer at Gulf Electronics Company, Jenelyn’s journey from a sales executive to a key figure in marketing is a story of relentless effort and unwavering determination. Her career in the UAE began in 2007 when she arrived in Abu Dhabi and took up a role as an admin assistant at Spinneys. Despite the daunting prospect of working abroad without a bachelor’s degree, Jenelyn was uplifted by the support of her cousin, who believed in her talents and skills.

Yet, her response was not of defeat but of resilience and professionalism, treating others with respect regardless of their behavior towards her. Education remained a beacon of hope for Jenelyn. After passing the UPCAT exam, she enrolled in the University of the Philippines Open University to pursue a Bachelor of Educational Studies. Juggling studies with a full-time job, she relied on her supportive friend, Joie, and her indomitable spirit to keep pushing forward. Her recent graduation is not just a personal achievement but a symbol of her commitment to lifelong learning and her dream of making a positive impact as a teacher. ‘Hold onto your dreams’ Jenelyn’s story is a powerful reminder to her fellow Filipinos and expatriates that struggling is part of the journey, but it’s the resilience and belief in oneself that pave the way to success. She advises, “Don’t lose hope. Struggling is just part of the process and it is everywhere.”

Her own experiences of overcoming discrimination, financial responsibilities, and educational pursuits are a testament to her advice. As she looks forward to pursuing further qualifications and her dream of teaching, Jenelyn embodies the very essence of ‘The Global Filipino’ - adaptable, resilient, and ever-forward-looking.

This belief fueled her ascent, leading her to become a product specialist promoting Philips kitchen appliances and personal care products. Her rise didn’t stop there; she transitioned to a Trade Shopper Marketing Officer, engaging with highlevel clients and learning strategies to enhance her work. Jenelyn reflects, “I enjoyed their company during the conference meetings and gained a lot of strategies and approach that I can use in my work.”
