A Golden Thread: Crafting the Creative Economy from Scotland's Highlands, Islands & Lowlands is a Scotland-wide initiative supporting doctoral research and enterprise development rooted in Craft-led inquiry by encouraging connections across disciplines, materials, and communities of practice.
Six funded PhD places are available through this first call, commencing November 2026. We welcome proposals from those whose work engages with Craft in its many forms, from materials and making to ideas and innovation.
