ABOUT THIS ABOUT THIS BOOK BOOK We are extremely honored to partner with Connecticut State Library and bring Remix the Future By and For Youth to the community at Bridgeport Public Library. Remix the Future is a nation-wide design, publication, and community-building program for public and school libraries, where young people are called to respond to creative community challenges at self-directed activity tables (a.k.a. Remix Stations). The GIANT Room team “remixes” responses to the mission as stickers, keychain inserts, and lookbooks, giving libraries one-of-a-kind youth-centered publications to add to their collection. We implemented a Remix Station with Bridgeport Public Library with the mission: raise awareness for an environmental problem YOU care about. In this lookbook, each submission has its own spread featuring the designer’s name and age, their keychain insert design, what environmental problem the designer wants to raise awareness for, and what connects the designer to the cause. Using youth’s designs, writings, and input, we created AI-generated avatars of the ideas. With The GIANT Remix app, youth learn AI literacy fundamentals: AI can make mistakes, we can give feedback to AI, and a human idea is always behind an AI output. The avatars can be explored digitally by scanning the QR code on each spread. We want to thank the librarians and staff from Bridgeport Public Library for their partnership. Remix the Future is made possible through funding from the Young Futures' "Oops!...AI Did It Again" Challenge and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Connecticut State Library. Let’s explore the designs and their designers! Your creative collaborators, The GIANT Room

What environmental problem do you think is worth raising awareness for? Why? Trees because some people just throw papers away, and trees make paper.
Tell us about yourself. What is your own personal connection to this cause? Bethany Community School doesn't throw paper away. They use the paper, called scrap paper. And if they use all the paper, they recycle it! DESIGNER’S SIGNATURE:

What environmental problem do you think is worth raising awareness for? Why? One environmental problem is biodiversity loss. A lot of human actions have contributed to habitat destruction.
Tell us about yourself. What is your own personal connection to this cause? I am a senior in high school, currently 17. My favorite musical artist is Hillari. This cause is important to me because I've realized more and more nature is the main reason why the Earth is so beautiful. Having to slowly watch overconsumption and trading agriculture cause animal and plants to disappear is heartbreaking.

What environmental problem do you think is worth raising awareness for? Why? Global warming. I chose this because everyday when I go to school I can see the water lines and how much they’ve dropped (Bridgeport bridge). I think about how the weather/climate gets more serious during seasons. Ice bergs are melting and Arctic animals are dying, and it hurts my heart.
Tell us about yourself. What is your own personal connection to this cause? I deeply care about animals and their enviorment because they are slowly dying and without some certain animals some of the other dangerous animals can overpower harmless animals. Without animals the world wouldn’t be the same.

What environmental problem do you think is worth raising awareness for? Why? Gun violence, domestic violence, police brutality. Stop the violence in my city. More educational programs so kids can stay off the streets and be somebody in life. Also, bullying people needs to stop.
Tell us about yourself. What is your own personal connection to this cause? There is too much gun violence in my city. There is too much domestic violence, and police brutality is out of control. I am a mother of 4 beautiful kids, and I’m a friendly person, and I always help people out of the kindness of my heart. I'm sweet and lovable. I'm a very caring person.

What environmental problem do you think is worth raising awareness for? Why? Climate change due to all the pollution in our waters, the deaths of animals, AI, bad companies and more, proves that we need to take care of our planet better.
Tell us about yourself. What is your own personal connection to this cause? I am Samari Johnson. I'm 15 and from Connecticut, and I want to help keep this world healthy, for I find myself in nature, and I know others do, too. But the only way to keep nature and us around is by protecting it. What environmental problem do you think is worth raising awareness for? Why? Cats, because, some cats in New York live short lives; they get ran over by cars and human feet (sometimes), they eat bad food that isn't good for them, and also probably hungry predators eat them.
Tell us about yourself. What is your own personal connection to this cause? Before I moved to Bethany, I lived in Bridgeport. On the street I lived on, there were different cats. I don't know how or where they came from. They just came and went.
