Fast & Easy Installation
1. Ready to mount on the door right out of the box. GCL packaging is designed so that operators can be lifted right out of the outer carton using the provided handles on the inner insert. This allows for easy and fast removal of the operator from the box.
2. Never lose time with mounting orientation again. Genie Commercial standard and heavy-duty operators allow for the ultimate out-of-the box installation flexibility. With a single change to the attachment point for the release cable, these operators can be mounted to meet job site needs. The covers are even designed to be flipped upside down easily and quickly.
3. Three phase power connections can be made and never have to be swapped for direction. GCL programming makes motor direction problems on three phase installs a thing of the past. Once wired, GCL operators have a single menu item at the beginning of set-up that sets the correct motor direction each time an operator is installed. Fast and easy.
4. TensiBelt ® primary drive reduction eliminates the need to adjust belt tension. GCL medium and standard-duty operators come with auto-adjusting belts. The days of lost time loosening motor bolts and tightening belts are over. The patented auto-tensioning belt system adjusts to the load carrying capacity required – and keeps that belt tension maintained for the life of the operator.
5. Voltage Selection – MultiVolt ® allows voltage selection at the job site. When wiring the operator just select the correct voltage: 120 or 115/208/230 V on single phase operators, 208/230/240 V for three phase operators. With the correct incoming voltage selected, the operator takes care of everything else, saving time and money.
6. Installation and lock-down holes are easily accessible with power tools. The mounting slots and lock-down holes on GCL operators sit further out from the side walls of the operator, allowing power tools to be used straight-on, eliminating the need to “angle” fasteners in and wasting time.
7. Photoeyes with built-in mounting flexibility. The standard photoeyes provided with GCL operators include brackets which allow for adjustment out to 8 inches off the wall for wide door track and thick sectional doors. The standard photoeye can also be mounted directly to the door track for a quick and clean-looking installation.
8. GCL trolley operators come with pre-assembled chain guide wear blocks and brackets. Simply bolt each side into a rail.
9. Common terminal strip for control wiring. All control wiring is completed through via the same style terminal strip in all GCL operators. This makes connections quick and familiar to installers. Each terminal is identified with easy-to-read text, not just a number which has to be looked up somewhere else.
10. Receivers are built-in on medium, standard, and heavy-duty GCL operators. On-Board Radio Receiver saves having to install an external receiver and related wiring when more than one transmitter is needed. Added bonus – the receivers will handle up to 50 transmitters! The built-in receivers come with a whip antenna which provides for long range performance at 315 MHz. The GCL internal receiver is compatible with single through four channel, and open/close/stop GCL transmitters.
Easy Set-Up
11. User Interface – LCD display with intuitive menu for quick setup. All GCL operators include a 16 digit LCD display which removes the guess work when setting-up the operator. Step through the set-up of the operator menu and see your changes as you make them. Never worry about counting blinks or waiting for beeps again. GCL operators with built-in LCD displays take the wait and guesswork out of setting up commercial operators.
12. Direction Setting – Adjust the direction of the motor during setup with the push of a button. When setting-up a new GCL operator the first menu item ensures that the motor direction is correct, and all limits and safety cut-outs are automatically adjusted as needed. Fast and easy.
13. EZ Limit ® – Electro-mechancial limits available for most GCL operators. Using the LCD, quickly and accurately set the up and down limits by moving the door to the desired limits and pressing a button. Setting limits has never been easier.
14. Learn transmitters and get unique ID numbers assigned. The internal GCL receiver is programmed using the LCD. Upon learning a new transmitter the operator will assign a unique ID. Every subsequent activation of the operator by that transmitter will display and log that transmitter ID. Transmitters can also be removed individually by scrolling down a list and selecting the transmitter by ID to remove.
15. On-board timed close functionality – standard and heavy-duty GCL operators include the ability to set a specific time delay prior to closing using most activation inputs. The LCD includes a menu where a user can set the time directly, in seconds and minutes, to get exactly the delay required for the job.
16. DC disc brake with progressive braking – GCL standard and heavy-duty operators include the ability to adjust the braking rate right from the LCD! By adjusting the braking rate, GCL operators can bring large, heavy doors to a nice smooth stop, reducing wear and tear on both the door and operator.
17. Plug and play compatibility with expansion modules. Modular expansion boards are available for auxiliary contact status and advanced timed close functionality. The LCD menu structure updates to include menus for any new boards plugged in.
Ease of Service
18. Diagnostics – GCL operators keep track of what it is doing, and what it has been asked to do at all times. The LCD readout displays the last ten operations and last ten error codes to reduce troubleshooting time.
19. Not sure which input opened or closed a door? GCL operators can answer that for you – all GCL operators keep track of each activation input separately, along with unique transmitter IDs, so there is no more need to guess what activated the door.
20. Get to the right service part, right now. GCL operators were designed to make servicing quick and easy. That means common tools for removing many parts, and well thought-out access to critical components.
21. Built-in cycle counter. The LCD on GCL includes a menu which will display the cycles for each and every cycle the operator has made.
22. Medium, standard, and heavy-duty trolley models have quiet trolley carriage with high strength wear pads which eliminate noise and need to grease trolley rails.
