Planning a wedding?

The 12 essentials of a dream wedding

A

wedding is the event of a lifetime. This special day has to be perfect, hence the importance of taking care of even the smallest of organizational details.

You don’t want to forget anything, whether it’s a reservation, a fitting, or a trial run for your menu and hairstyle. Here’s a checklist of the 12 key elements you’ll need to take care of along the path to your dream wedding.

1. The ceremony, the officiant, and the reception Are you going to have a civil or religious wedding? Have you asked your best friend to unite you in wedlock? And will the reception be in the country or in a hotel banquet room? Make sure the location you choose can easily accommodate all your guests.

2. The meal and the wedding cake There are loads of things to think about when organizing the meal: the format; the menu; a children’s menu;

the bar; and the wedding cake. And don’t forget to ask about your guests’ food allergies.

3. The atmosphere What theme will you choose to set the tone for your wedding? Which DJ will get your guests out on the dance floor? Will you surprise everyone with a unique first dance?

4. Photographer How will you immortalize your wedding: photos, videos, or both?

Remember to plan for an indoor photo session in case Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate on your big day.

5. The invitations Don’t wait until the last minute to send out your invitations if you want all the important people in your life to be with you for this celebration.

Remember to indicate the theme and dress code. And do think about including self-addressed stamped envelopes for those essential RSVPs. 6. Wedding bands Your wedding bands are the

symbols of your love; choose them with care. Do you both want gold, silver, or with diamonds? Discreet or extravagant? With or without engraving?

7. Beauty appointments Hairstyle, manicure, waxing, and makeup: leave no­thing to chance if you want to be stunning on your big day. Make your appointments for just the right time; you don’t want your roots to be visible under your veil!

8. The dress, suit, and accessories The outfits of bride, groom, and wedding party should be coordinated. Will you be a vision in white or will you choose to add a colourful note? And will the perfect dress feature something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue?

9. Flowers and decorations Have you chosen a colour scheme for your flowers and decorative accessories? What are your favourite flowers? How will the tables be

dressed?

10. Transportation Will you arrive by boat, car, horsedrawn carriage, or maybe even by parachute? Whatever your choice, be sure to take your dress and the weather into consideration.

11. Guest favours A personalized trinket, a gourmet sample, or a home decor object: have you found the perfect wedding favour to thank your guests for joining you?

12. The honeymoon A truly idyllic honeymoon shouldn’t break your budget. Are you tempted by an exotic island or a vibrant city? Choose the destination and the timing carefully to stay in line with your means.

ets play important roles in their owners’ lives and are increasingly included in more activities, such as vacations, dining out and even weddings. The National Association of Professional Pet Sitters says more couples are customizing their wedding celebrations and bridal parties to include pets. Dogs and cats are turning up in wedding photos as well as trips down the aisle. Some pets even serve as ring bearers. Before giving your pet a job for the wedding, consider his personality and temperament. How does the pet react around crowds? A dog or cat accustomed to a quiet home may behave differently when placed in a room full of excited people. In addition, confirm that pets are allowed inside your ceremony space. Certain venues may not allow animals that are not service dogs. Make sure to inform guests that an animal will be present, so those with allergies can take precautions. If it isn’t practical to have animals in the ceremony, give them a primary spot in wedding or engagement photos.

Five tips for finding the perfect wedding dress

A

s the bride, you will be the focus of everyone’s attention on your big day, including all the guests as well as your beloved, of course. But in order to be the most beautiful woman in the room, the star of the celebrations must choose her dress carefully. Here are a few tips to help you.

1. Think before you shop.

It’s exhausting trying on dozens of dresses at random in the hopes of finding the perfect one. Be­fore going shopping, be sure to browse some magazines and search the Internet to narrow down the styles you prefer.

2. Shop well in advance.

Most people get married in the summer, so dressmakers’ agendas soon fill up and the prettiest dres­ses fly off the racks quickly. Make sure you plan enough time for the fittings.

3. Choose carefully who you shop with.

Don’t shop with a crowd of friends who will confuse you with all their

comments and diverging opinions.

Choose one or two people who know you well and who have good taste.

You’ll want them to be able to give you some honest feedback.

4. Choose a dress that you like.

Your dress should make you feel good and allow you to be yourself.

You also want to be comfortable walking up the aisle and dancing.

Naturally, you’ll also want to choose a model that flatters your figure.

5. Bear in mind the general atmos­phere.

Your outfit should harmonize with the wedding theme and the reception hall. For instance, a formal sequined dress is not really appropriate for a country setting.

One last tip: Decide how much you want to spend on your dress before you begin your search. That way you won’t ruin your whole wedding budget by splurging on an expensive dress.

eddings are a chance for couples tying the knot to be the center of attention.

All eyes will be glued to the bride and groom on this special day, which makes it even more important for couples to look their collective best.

Brides might garner most of the attention on a couple’s wedding day, but dashing grooms also will get their share of attention. As a result, grooms must be just as diligent as their blushing brides with regard to grooming and appearance on their wedding days. To look pictureperfect, grooms may want to include these grooming tips in their wedding day preparation.

Hair Schedule a haircut with a professional stylist roughly a week before the wedding to get your hair shaped and trimmed. Although trendy hairstyles may show off creativity, keep in mind that photos last forever, and it’s often better to stick with a classic cut. A barber or stylist may suggest styles that best suit your face shape and hair texture. Above all, the haircut should be neat. Resist the urge to wash your hair every day before the wedding. Allow some natural oils to build up and make your hair shine in a healthy way.

Men who shave the day of their weddings may find their skin is sensitive and irritated, which can lead to redness. Unless your facial hair grows especially fast, shave the evening before. This is a good time to splurge on a professional shave with a straight razor at a barber shop.

What to include with wedding invitations

W

edding invitations once followed a relatively standard format that did not necessarily require much thought on the part of the groomsand brides-to-be. But many couples now take more creative approaches to their wedding invitations, using them to evoke a certain theme or to establish if the wedding will be formal or casual.

While wedding invitation designs might have become more flexible over the years, couples should still make sure to include certain information in their invitations to avoid being overwhelmed with questions from guests excited to attend the festivities.

Date and time: It may seem simple, but don’t forget to include the date and time of both the wedding and reception in the invitation. If there will be a considerable amount of time between the ceremony and the reception, you may want to include a handful of local dining suggestions so guests can grab a quick bite to eat before the cocktail hour.

Venue information: Guests will need to know where couples are tying the knot, so be sure to include the address of the ceremony site as well as a link to its website. The address will help guests find the venue, while the website can prove an invaluable source of information about the venue, which can save couples the trouble of answering questions about the ceremony site that can more easily and quickly be answered by visiting the website.

Reception hall information: Couples whose receptions will be in a different location than their ceremonies should include the same information about the reception hall that they did about the ceremony site. Reception hall information is often listed on reception cards, which can include information on the front and back to save paper and money on postage.

Hotel information: Many couples arrange special room rates with nearby hotels for their wedding guests. Include the names of these hotels, directions to the hotel from all directions, directions from the hotel to the ceremony and reception sites and the various rates for rooms (single room, double room, etc.). If possible, include a link to each hotel’s reservation form as well.

Reply cards: Reply cards are included so guests can easily reply to let couples know if they will or will not be attending. Couples with wedding websites can even include a link to their sites on the reply cards, letting guests know they can reply via the website if they so choose.

Reception menu: Many reception halls ask that couples give them a ballpark figure as to how many of their guests will prefer each type of entrée available at the reception. Include menu options within your invitation package, ideally on your reply card, so you can easily provide this information for your vendor.

Wedding website information: If you did not already include a link to your wedding website on your save-the-date cards, include that information within your invitation package. Wedding websites will answer many of your guests’ questions for you, so don’t forget to make this valuable tool a part of your wedding planning.

Compiling the guest list

D

rawing up a guest list for your wedding can be very stressful, especially when you start thinking about your extended family and your limited budget.

What’s the best way to tackle this difficult job? Two options are available to you.

First of all, you can list the names of all the people you would like to be present at your wedding, and adapt the reception or your budget accordingly. Obviously, the longer the list, the more costly it will be. Or, if you feel that the presence of all the people on your list is essential, there are ways of inviting everyone without breaking the bank.

You could opt for a more affordable menu or a no-frills reception or a cash bar, for instance.

You can also do the reverse. Choose the reception hall and determine your budget, then adjusting your guest list accordingly. You’d love to get married in a specific place that can only accommodate 80 people? Compile your list according to your priorities until you reach the maximum number of guests. Start with family and close friends, then add extended family and friends, and end with ac­ quaintances and collea­gues if there is room. Don’t forget the spouses (and the children, if invited) of all these people.

Whichever option you choose, keep in mind that it is your big day; don’t succumb to the pressure of inviting people you don’t really want to see. Instead, surround yourself with people who are important to you.

Responsibilities of bridal party members

B

eing asked to join a bridal party is both an honour and a responsibility. When asked to take on such significant and meaningful roles, men and women may recognize the honour but be unsure of what their responsibilities are as couples move forward with their wedding plans.

Bridal party roles can vary depending on certain circumstances, but many couples still want their bridesmaids and groomsmen to perform many of the more traditional tasks associated with their roles. The following are some of the tasks bridesmaids and groomsmen can expect to perform in the months leading up to the wedding and during the wedding itself.

Maid of Honour: The maid of honour serves as the bride-to-be’s right-hand woman as she plans her wedding and gets ready on her big day. Maids of honour typically go gown shopping with the bride and may even choose or offer suggestions about the color and style of the bridesmaids’ dresses.

Once a dress style and color has been chosen, the maid of honour will make sure everyone is fitted on time.

A maid of honour will also plan the bridal shower, sending invitations and arranging for lodging for out-of-town guests if necessary. Many brides want the details of their bridal showers to be a surprise, and maids of honour should honour those sentiments when possible. A maid of honour also plans the bachelorette party, though many brides do not mind being involved in the planning of such parties.

The maid of honour may be asked to help address save-the-date cards and envelopes as well.

Come the day of the wedding, the maid of honour will ensure the bride’s day is as stress-free as possible, helping to address any last-minute issues that may arise. Maids of honour may be asked to

serve as the legal witness to the wedding and sign the wedding license before the reception. At the reception, the maid of honour will toast the bride.

Best man: The best man is the maid of honour’s counterpart, helping to plan the bachelor party and toasting the groom at the reception. The best man also tends to hold the rings during the wedding ceremony, and during the day of the wedding, he will coordinate the groomsmen to make sure everyone is ready to go on time. The best man may arrange transportation for the groom and groomsmen on the day of the wedding and may also return the groom and groomsmen’s attire the following day if the newlyweds are departing on their honeymoon.

Bridesmaids/Groomsmen: The bridesmaids and groomsmen serve similar functions, acting as sources of support as couples plan their weddings.

Bridesmaids and groomsmen help to plan the bachelorette and bachelor parties and may also be asked their opinions as couples make decisions regarding their weddings. Bridesmaids and groomsmen must be prepared to take pictures once couples have officially tied the knot. They also must help the brides and grooms with any issues that may arise in the hours before couples become husband and wife.

Flower girl/Ring bearer: Flower girls and ring bearers are often young relatives of the couple, whether they are a young brother or sister or a niece or nephew. The responsibilities of the flower girl and ring bearer are typically limited to the ceremony, during which they will walk down the aisle, either together or individually, before the father of the bride escorts his daughter to the altar or stage.

and, along with his wife, may pay for the wedding, though many couples now finance their own nuptials. The father of the bride will dance with his daughter during the reception, and some fathers may even share a special toast for the newlyweds during the reception, though such a toast is not traditionally required.

Bridal parties play a big role on a couples’ wedding day, and those roles are both an honour and a responsibility.

Rehearsal dinner how-to

M

any couples find their wedding rehearsal dinners to be relaxing respites from the whirlwind of wedding planning. Such dinners enable the happy couple to slow down and enjoy themselves in a relatively casual gathering with their closest friends and family members.

Rehearsal dinners typically take place in the night or two before the wedding. The couple, members of their wedding party, the parents of the bride and groom and others involved in the wedding typically attend this dinner. The couple generally takes the time at the dinner to thank everyone for their contributions to the wedding and to offer some small gifts of appreciation. No rules govern rehearsal dinners, so couples have the freedom to plan the dinners as they see fit.

Rehearsal dinners often come immediately after the ceremony rehearsal, when the wedding party and the officiant go over the timing and details of the wedding. Make

arrangements with the ceremony site and officiant prior to making dinner reservations.

Parents of the groom traditionally host the rehearsal dinner, so they will be integral in planning the event. That means couples should keep an open and gracious mind.

Remember, the rehearsal dinner doesn’t have to be a lavish affair, and it can be customized to any budget or preference.

Some couples feel that hosting a rehearsal dinner in a casual

setting can make the dinner more comfortable for members of the wedding, who can use the dinner as an opportunity to mingle and get to know one another before the wedding. This will help to tame nerves and enable the wedding party to loosen up and enjoy themselves even more. Some people may be more inclined to socialize and have fun when they’re not worried about putting on airs.

Making it legal in British Columbia Are you eligible to marry in B.C.?

• You do not have to be a British Columbia resident to be married in the province. However, you are required to get a marriage license, which is valid for a term of three months and only valid in British Columbia.

• Anyone over 19 years of age is eligible to apply for a marriage license in B.C. Anyone under 19 years of age must first obtain the consent of both parents. No one under 16 years can be married without the consent of the Supreme or County Court.

If one or both individuals were divorced within the last 31 days, proof of divorce must be provided.

No license is issued until the courts finalize a divorce; normally 31 days after the Courts issue the divorce decree.

Arrange the Marriage Ceremony • In British Columbia, couples can choose a religious or civil ceremony, which must be witnessed by two people.

• To perform the religious ceremony, you can choose a religious

representative who must be registered with the Vital Statistics Agency, under the Marriage Act. • If you plan to have a civil ceremony, contact and book a marriage commissioner as soon as possible once you set your wedding date.

Register the Marriage • The marriage commissioner or religious representative who will perform the wedding ceremony will help complete the Marriage Registration Form. Within 48 hours of the wedding ceremony, the form will be sent to the Vital Statistics Agency, where the marriage will be registered and a legal record will be kept.

Proof of Marriage • At the time of the ceremony, your marriage commissioner or religious representative may provide a statement of marriage, which can be used temporarily as proof of marriage. However, it is not a legal document.

You will receive a legal Marriage Certificate from the Vital Statistics Agency after the registration of the

marriage.

Which name can I use?

• After marriage, you can continue using or choose to use your own surname at any time. You also gain the right to use your spouse’s surname. This does not

result in a legal change of name or any automatic change to your identification records.

If you choose to use hyphenated surnames, a legal Change of Name is required.

Factors to consider when hosting an outdoor wedding

M

any couples tie the knot outdoors, as nature can provide an idyllic backdrop on such a special day.

In many ways, planning outdoor weddings is similar to planning weddings that take place with a roof overhead and four walls surrounding couples and their guests. But there are some distinct features of both indoor and outdoor weddings, and couples planning the latter would be wise to consider the following factors before they commit to a location for their ceremony.

Laws Laws dictate what can and cannot be done in open spaces, and couples with outdoor locations in mind should confirm local laws and regulations before they commit to a location for their wedding. Research which permits you might need and if there are any rules or restrictions at each location you are considering. The cost of such permits may be negligible, but the rules may restrict what you can do in a given space and how long you can do it. Discuss these rules with each other to determine if the rules are something both of you can live with.

Location Proximity to your reception venue and the hotel where guests are staying is another factor to consider if you are planning on hosting an outdoor wedding. A remote location might provide stunning views and privacy, but guests might tire if the ceremony location is far from the hotel and/or reception venue. This should not be too big an issue if the ceremony and reception are held at the same locale, but

couples should still look for nearby lodging before booking remote outdoor locations.

Weather Weather is perhaps the biggest factor couples must consider when planning an outdoor wedding. Outdoor weddings are best held during those seasons when the threat of precipitation is insignificant and temperatures are mild, but it’s still necessary to have a backup plan just in case Mother Nature does not want to cooperate. If possible, find an outdoor location that provides access to an indoor ceremony facility in case of inclement weather. If that’s not possible, monitor the forecast as closely as possible and arrange for a tent to be erected should rain start to fall. (Note: The cost of such tents can be considerable, so build this contingency into your budget.) If the forecast is calling for chillier temperatures than you had hoped for, email out-of-town guests a few days in advance to remind them to dress warm.

Logistics No matter how beautiful a backdrop may be, photos of an outdoor ceremony can be compromised. Couples, along with their photographers, should visit the site in the weeks before their weddings to determine arrangements for the ceremony that will guarantee photos are not compromised by sunlight or shade. Facility managers can probably offer advice as to the best places to hold the ceremony and seat guests, but a runthrough at the location with your photographer in tow can help ensure your photos come out perfect.

Wedding day transportation tips Couples must make many decisions when planning their weddings, including choosing transportation for guests to and from wedding ceremonies. Whereas couples once left guests’ transportation up to their guests, nowadays it is customary to provide rides for guests so they can easily get to and from their hotel and the ceremony and reception safe and sound.

Many factors must be considered when choosing transportation for wedding guests, and the following are a handful of tips to make the decision a little easier.

Speak with your hotel before booking transportation. While professional shuttle services are an option, couples whose guests will be staying in a specific hotel or hotels

should speak with management of their hotels to determine if the hotels offer shuttle services for guests. Many hotels provide airport shuttle service to guests, and couples might be able to use such services to get their guests to and from their weddings and receptions. Hotels may charge a fee to use their shuttles, but they may offer discounts to couples whose guests book an agreed upon number of rooms. An added benefit to using the hotel shuttle services is that bus drivers won’t get lost looking for the hotel.

Find an option that won’t bust your budget. Wedding budgets tend to be big, and couples planning their weddings soon realize that budgets can quickly be busted.

When choosing transportation for

your guests, do not feel pressured to book especially lavish buses. So long as the buses are safe and on time, guests won’t mind if they ride in a school bus or a fancy bus worthy of a touring rock band. If you are concerned about the appearance of a bus, ask if you can decorate the bus before the wedding to make it more inviting.

Comparison shop. Many companies cater to couples looking for transportation for their wedding guests, and couples should explore all of their options before committing to a particular company.

Receive formal estimates from several companies before making your final decision, and speak to companies about matching offers.

When comparing companies, try to consider both cost and quality.

While the lowest estimate might be the most budget-friendly, you should choose the company that you feel is most trustworthy and capable of fulfilling your contract.

Read the contract. Transportation contracts should be gone over with a fine-tooth comb before couples sign on the dotted line. Check for hidden fees, such as mileage or overage charges if the reception runs a little late, and ask how much flexibility you might have with regard to those fees. Make sure any agreements you reach with regard to fees are written into the contract before you sign it.

The sentiment behind the traditions

W

eddings are full of traditions, from the garter belt to the throwing of rice. The lore surrounding tradtions is interesting, as most of the traditions that we so fondly celebrate today use to have a specific belief or function behind it. Here are the stories behind five common wedding traditions: It’s a nice day for a white wedding: Brides wearing white is a relatively new tradition in the world of weddings. Before 1840, brides simply wore their best dress for the big day. However, after Queen Victoria wore a white wedding dress, a trend was started and that trend turned into a tradition. Now, 90 per cent of brides opt to wear white when walking down the aisle.

The fourth finger: There is a reason why the fourth finger on the left hand is designated as the ‘wedding finger’ and it’s not because it’s the best looking finger for a ring. Before the advent of modern science, it was widely believed that a vein ran directly from the fourth finger to the heart, and thus putting a ring on this finger strengthened the love between two people. The vein that runs from the hand to the heart was named vena amoris, which means ‘the vein of love’ in Latin.

Old, new, borrowed and blue: The tradition of the bride wearing something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue was originally taken from an old English rhyme, and each represents a specific sentiment: something old is to represent continuity, something new to bring optimism and joy for the future, something borrowed to feature happiness and shared memories and something blue symbolizes love, purity and fidelity.

The Honeymoon stage was always over: Honeymoons were not always the glorious holidays that they are celebrated as now. In ancient Norse times, newly weds often went in hiding, fearing abduction of the bride. A family member or loved one would bring the couple a cup of honey wine for 30 days, which is one moon cycle – a honey moon.

Look-alike brides: Apparently, brides use to be in a large amount of danger on their wedding days, as there are a number of traditions that centered around keeping brides safe (see honeymoon above). Another tradition that originated around a bride’s safety is the matching bridesmaid’s dresses. Bridesmaids were dressed to look alike the bride, hoping to confuse any guests will ill intentions. While this feat isn’t as abundant as it once was, matching bridesmaid dresses is one of the most wide-spread traditions in modern weddings.

he modern bridal shower may trace its origins to the 1890s. “The Old Farmer’s Almanac” says the first bridal shower hostess filled a paper parasol with small presents and turned it over the head of the bride-to-be. Soon the concept caught on, and many other women began “showering” future brides in such a manner. Naturally, as presents became larger and heavier, the tradition of literally showering the bride with gifts was modified — but the name has stuck.

Bridal showers are designed to equip couples with many of the necessities to start their new life together. This custom is believed to have evolved from an old dowry system, in which a bride was expected to bring valuables to the marriage. The dowry was originally intended as compensation for the burden of supporting a wife placed on the groom. second wedding is a chance to focus more on what you want as a couple instead of the wedding your parents may had hoped for you. Today there are no rules in second weddings; the happy couple can customize it as they see fit.

Chances are someone you know will make another trip down the aisle at one point in his or her life. Second weddings are a great way for couples to showcase their personalities and not be constrained by tradition.

Creating a wedding reception playlist

any elements combine to make traditional wedding receptions special.

But many veteran wedding guests would agree that the right playlist once guests hit the reception hall dance floor can turn an ordinary wedding reception into something far more memorable.

The majority of couples choose between a live band and a disc jockey to provide the music for their wedding receptions. Entertainment is often one of the more memorable aspects of a wedding reception, as the right band or disc jockey can help to establish a jovial mood that makes it easy for everyone to have a good time.

Couples can leave their wedding reception playlists to the professionals, but they should also know that they have a say in which songs are played.

In addition, couples can have a “no play” playlist that prohibits certain songs they dislike from being played. When mulling the musical choices for your wedding reception, consider the following advice.

Begin by making a list of your favourite songs.

Make this list during different days and at different times and moods so you get a good cross-section of your favourite tunes. But remember not every song is a good fit for a wedding reception. Melancholy songs or those that include suggestive lyrics are best left off the playlist.

Aim to get as many guests on the dance floor as possible. Well-known songs and upbeat dance music will inspire more guests to cut a rug than

Avoid songs that are difficult to dance to. Some songs just are not meant to be danced to. If your favourite songs fit that bill but you still want to hear them on your wedding, ask the DJ or band to play them during the cocktail hour or while everyone is eating dinner.

Give the music vendor some leeway. Disc jockeys and bands have no doubt performed at many a wedding before yours, and they may have a better feel for crowds than you do. Let them know they have some leeway to play songs that did not make it onto the playlist if guests seem to be avoiding the dance floor. That professional expertise is why you hired them, and it can make for a more memorable night for everyone.

Don’t stress out about the music. The playlist can set the tone for a positive reception, but don’t stress out if you’re struggling to come up with songs you want to hear. Your vendor is no doubt capable of creating a playlist that will ensure everyone has fun.

Hiring a band or disc jockey to perform at your wedding reception is a great way to make sure everyone enjoys a fun night. Adding your own favourite songs to the playlist can make the reception even more special.

Post-wedding day tasks to tackle

ouples who plan their own weddings might enjoy a satisfactory exhale once the knot has been tied and the last rug has been cut. Once guests head home and couples depart for their honeymoons, much of the work is done. But there are some lingering tasks for couples once they return from their first trip together as husband and wife.

• Thank-you notes: Thank-you notes are perhaps a couple’s biggest task upon returning from their honeymoons. Such notes should be sent to all guests who attended your wedding as well as those who could not attend but still gave gifts. Carve out some time in the weeks immediately following your honeymoon to write personalized thank-you notes, mailing them all at the same time so guests do not feel slighted if their note arrives weeks after another’s.

• Cake: If you were unable to do so before leaving on your honeymoon, return to your wedding reception venue to pick up any leftover cake.

Many venues will store leftover wedding cakes in their freezers for a reasonable amount of time until couples return from their honeymoons, but make it a point to pick up your cake as soon as possible. It’s customary to eat leftover cake, if you have any, on your first anniversary.

• Vendor reviews: Many vendors now rely on Internet reviews from past customers to help grow their businesses, and it’s a nice gesture for couples to offer their reviews once they have returned from their

honeymoons. Chances are you relied on such reviews when choosing vendors for your wedding, so return the favour by writing reviews and helping future couples find reliable vendors who can help make their weddings special.

• Dress: New brides who want to keep their dresses as keepsakes or preserve them as heirlooms should have their dresses cleaned and professionally preserved when they return from their honeymoon.
