A True Friend of Forman

Students help clear the Nature Walk trail on the Forman campus.
Not All Who Wander Are Lost
The quote directly above from J.R.R. Tolkien is the sensibility that guides the efforts of Health and English Teacher Beth Man P’15 as she oversees the regular work being done on Forman’s many on-campus walking and hiking trails. Each weekend, she works with many students on the trails and the students receive community service hours for adding to our campus resources.
“Our goals are to teach students about land stewardship, trail maintenance, and how to map and blaze new trails to connect to the miles of trails already existing,” says Mrs. Man. “I love to bring students on the trails. This fall, Ben Wills ’21, participated in trail work and said, ‘I never even knew these trails were here!’ And he’s a four-year senior.
Nature is how I recharge and reconnect, and sharing it with the students is one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had during my tenure. John and Julie Forman were nature advocates, spending summers at their cabin in Canada. I love knowing that this work is something they would have wanted for the School.”
