Jambo Cafe Voted “Best Soup in Santa Fe” At The Food Depot’s 28th Annual Souper Bowl

SANTA FE - Jambo Cafe, led by Chef Ahmed Obo, celebrated a flavorful victory at The Food Depot’s 2024 Souper Bowl. Chef Obo's Roast Beet and Ginger Coconut Bisque secured the top spot by earning the most votes at the event, claiming both the titles of Best Soup in Santa Fe and Best Vegetarian Soup

Best Savory: Flying Tortilla’s Savory Green Chile Clam Chowder by Chef Carlos Ruvalcaba

Best Seafood: Boxcar Santa Fe’s New England Shrimp Chowder with Green Chile Hush Puppie by Chef Francisco Delgado

The 2024 Souper Bowl, presented by Enterprise Bank & Trust, experienced a surge in attendees and restaurant participation. A total of twenty-four restaurants competed, welcoming six first-time contenders Approximately 1400 voting attendees cast their ballot for best overall soup and best soup in each category. Total event attendance at 1700 included The Food Depot staff, restaurant staff, and event volunteers.

“Souper Bowl is truly a community event,” shared Sherry Hooper, Executive Director for The Food Depot “While we gather to enjoy a wonderful meal, this event is only possible with the incredible support of our restaurants, sponsors, and community members Souper Bowl is both enjoyable today and has a lasting impact for our hunger-relief programming across Northern New Mexico.”

Revenue from the 2024 Souper Bowl will provide well over 400,000 meals to children, seniors, and families experiencing food insecurity in nine counties in Northern New Mexico
