The Academies: K-Prep 4 through 5th Grade 3D Printing - In this class we will explore 3D printing! Students will learn how to use Tinkercad to create and print small toys and games. They will draw a plan for their design, create the pieces in Tinkercad, and then print out their items on our very own TFA 3D printers. (If time allows we may design other pieces). They will come away with a fun and memorable piece that they designed! In this class, you will learn to recreate and reinterpret the techniques of a specific master, such as Vincent van Gogh's swirling, impasto textures or Salvador Dali's symbolic self-portraits. Through guided exercises and a supportive environment, you will develop a deeper understanding of art history and discover how to infuse your own work with the spirit of a famous artist, culminating in a finished piece that is both a tribute and a personal expression. The Academies: 6th-8th Grade 3D Printing - In this class we will explore 3D printing! Students will learn how to use Tinkercad to create and print Christmas ornaments and other Christmas themed items. They will draw a plan for their design, create the pieces in Tinkercad, and then print out their item on our very own TFA 3D printers. (If time allows we may design other pieces). They will come away with a fun and new Christmas object that they designed! In Archery, you will start shooting from 10 yards and learn the basics first: parts of the bow and arrow, steps of shooting, whistle commands, and safety regulations. After the basics are covered, arrow firing begins! All skill levels are welcome. A certified USA Archery instructor will be helping students each week. Instructor: Gregory Archery Wednesdays, 2:50-3:50 pm Cost: $250 Ballet and Modern Dance - Students will learn the foundational principles of body movement and form. These are important aspects of ballet performance because ballet puts great emphasis on the method and execution of movement. The techniques found in classical ballet are a framework for many other styles of dance, including jazz and contemporary ballet. Students will also focus on alignment, or keeping the head, shoulders, and hips vertically aligned.
Horton Technique Modern Dance has no style, per se. The technique emphasizes a whole body, anatomical approach to dance that includes flexibility, strength, coordination and body and spatial awareness to enable unrestricted, dramatic freedom of expression. No travel, no hassle—the matches are through Rookly’s online platform, featuring integrated video and a live leaderboard. Compete alongside 100-plus schools across the country, including Horace Mann, Riverdale, Seacrest Country Day, and many others. The matches are open to students in 1st through 8th grade. Younger students should have experience with playing chess. Students do not have to be a part of Chess Class to participate on the Chess Team. Rookly Chess League is moderated by Rookly Chess Company Mondays, 4:00-5:00 pm, *Students will log in virtually Cost: $40 per semester (Rookly Chess League starts February 2nd and runs through April 27th) GRWM and God - GRWM & God is a unique class that combines the everyday ritual of “getting ready” with intentional time spent with God. Each session begins with practical lifestyle activities—like making face masks, doing skin care, journaling, or learning hairstyles — and flows into guided devotion, prayer, and reflection.
